  • “Fifteen years ago, I gave a speech at a global gathering for young adults titled, ‘The Way Things Really Are.’ I talked about the blessings and challenges of digital devices in our lives. And a lot has changed in the digital world since then.
    “On Sunday, November 3, I will share a talk titled ‘The Way Things Really Are 2.0’ in another devotional.
    “I invite you to prepare for this meeting by reading my original message and preparing your heart and mind for the Holy Spirit to teach you how to discern truth from error.”

      I've tested AI and found an Insidious Bias that causes it to lose perspective easily & get trapped into illogical argument positions.
      When asked to explain it its error, it invariably blames its trainers.
      Always test the answers.

    I am an artist 👩‍🎨 and photographer. It was stressing me that my work could become irrelevant . Useless. Who would want or enjoy my art work if AI could produce art on a superior level ?
    The spirit whispered “ AI does not have God” ❤
    These talks have further brought me peace , 🕊️, purpose, insight , and enlightenment ! Thank you dear Bednars 🙏😇❣️🕊️

      There will always be demand for human art, you have no need to worry about that. AI Art is still too rigid and limited to be able to replace it in industry, and people will always see that time and quality as high value.
      I enjoy AI Art, but I'm not gonna stop commissioning people, or trying to learn to draw, because of it. If anything, it's been a source of inspiration. Like the camera, more forms of media doesn't eliminate the others, but frees them for better forms of art. AI and Humans have some overlap, but also cover separate parts of the image space that cannot overlap. Find that human side and go ham on that, and AI can never stop you.

    I hadn’t anticipated the kind of warnings about AI that Elder Bednar brought up. Truly, it’s good to have people looking ahead, and looking out for danger that you cannot see. I hope that AI doesn’t become another chain around peoples’ necks, when instead it could give us incredible tools to create and improve lives.

    Two guidelines to measure if we are using technology properly
    1. Does the use of various technology or media invite or impede the constant companionship of the holy Ghost in your life?
    2. Does the time you spend using various technology or media in large or restrict your capacity to live love and serve in meaningful ways?
    So grateful for inspired guidelines❤❤❤

The spiritual dangers of relying on AI are something I had not considered before. Humans are creators and need to use AI to support our creativeness-not replace it because it is easy.

I do not need to watch all of this video because this video was not made for me.. but I also realized that even a stone drunk man not ready to walk into the light still can receive inspiration and love filled messages from the light from those places he can not see, because the one's he sees he pushes away but the one's he can not see he can not push away... I hope this message reaches someone who needs it..,

    One thing that stuck out to me is that ai is a continued iteration of technology that is neither good nor evil. We have the duty and responsibility of learning, like all previous technologies, to use it for good and righteous purposes.

  • @Evreskorp
    @Evreskorp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    I think this is a really important message. Although AI is a powerful tool and is getting better every day, it is not 100% accurate and often is a little bit off in one way or another. Unless we develop the necessary knowledge and skills for the areas that we work in, we won't be able to catch it when it is off. But more than that, just as Elder Bednar has just said, this life is a time to learn and grow and prepare to meet God. If we use AI excessively, then it becomes a crutch for us and prevents us from making the necessary work and effort to develop and grow our talents and abilities that God has given us. AI is a powerful tool, but we have to be careful about how we use it. AI isn't going to magically solve any problems. People who have spent the necessary time and effort to learn will be able to use AI to help them to make a positive difference in the world.

    • @rmt3589
      @rmt3589 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It will and has solved problems though, like the crutches my brother uses after his knee surgery. The question becomes, are you using it to help you improve, like how these surgeries will give my brother proper kneecap placement? Or are you using them for sloth, so that you don't have to do the hard work yourself? My brother's condition is a good example, as the crutches are part of the struggle to heal. But like the medical form, the figurative form can easily be misused.
      Using Phind to find better resources for a church talk, or using Chat-GPT to do it for you. Having an AI Companion to help work through trauma, or to get out carnal desires that break chastity. An agent taking off the annoying parts of projects, or the important parts so the learning can be skipped.
      It's a lot like how the devil often reflects Christ. Temple covenants, or Mahan's secret. Asking a prophet for info from the Spirit, or asking a medium for info from the dead. Sacrificing your heart to Christ, or your brother's to vengeance.
      There is a good and bad form of all things, and it's up to us to do the good as often as we can, and to repent when we don't. This is the path to salvation. AI can assist with this, or hinder. Just as a brick can be used to build a temple or sink your crimes to the bottom of a river. A tool is a tool, how will we use it?

    • @rmt3589

      A big part of what he said is the kind of companion. AI can make good company, as long as you don't allow it to lead you to sin or displace real human interactions.
      I especially love that he used displace instead of replace. There are situations where you want a friend, but can't access one. It's a good use for AI, as long as you keep in mind the things from this talk, and don't let yourself be blinded by connection.

    So the main examples of what he is earning against include: AI companions that seem to fulfill emotional relationship needs, ceding our capabilities of creation and agency to AI, and using AI as a replacement for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Sounds like the theme of the warning is to take seriously the power of AI, and that the world students are growing up to be a part of is fraught with distractions.

    I don’t understand why he’d say it could be used to critique our thinking, when it never can think Celestial. And how can a mathematical equation decipher human interpretation of “tone” in a religious talk? The AI has no faith, no belief in our Savior… I am sure AI can be used as a tool, but he applies it in ways I find shocking.
