    hating a book so much and then reading 1 star reviews on GR or watching rant videos on YT is my greatest joy in life

    Omg I never remember a thing about books when I finish them too 😭 Even my favorite books I forget the plot so easily. It was such an accomplishment when I reread my favorite nostalgic trilogy for the third time and now the first book is completely in my brain. Going to have to re read the second and third a couple more times for those to stick 💀😂

      god same, i love the farseer trilogy, but if someone asked me what happens in it, i couldn't tell you a single thing LOL. i need to reread!

    My first book was published through a small press and it had the absolute most hideous cover I had ever seen. I knew no one would want to buy it, because I wouldn't have bought such an ugly cover. Ebook or no. As soon as I got the rights back I got a new cover. Like number one priority. Bad covers ruin books 😂

    Reading negative reviews on Goodreads is so cathartic!!! And honestly, they're really useful even when I'm not 100% sure how I feel about a book. If I find myself agreeing with the negative reviewers, it's a good sign I didn't like the book as much as I first thought.

    • @christeascozycorner
      @christeascozycorner  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FACTS!!! like when i finish a book and something about it just doesn't sit quite well with me, but then some reviews were able to put in words exactly what i didn't like

    I agree with not wanting to read reviews about books you love. I fear that the reviews would point out negative aspects of the book I hadn't even thought about and it would make me like the book less.

  • @ppphanon

    I'm stubborn about DNF-ing. I would always push myself to finish a book even when I'm not enjoying it. Such a waste of tiiiime, I need to get better at it.
    The buying the whole series, ugh, it's also difficult not to do that when I see the whole set cause books that I like aren't as easily accessible here in the Philippines. So I always feel like I have to grab the chance or else, what if like the series and it takes me ages to find the next book?

    • @christeascozycorner
      @christeascozycorner  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i totally understand, i didn't start dnf-ing until very recently too. SUNK COST FALLACY and all that
      and yes exactly!!! plus sometimes books go out of print, so i feel like i have to get it now before they sell out, ugh it's a whole thing. and that must be even more difficult in the phillipines

    I feel you with procrastinating on books you know you're going to love. Because I hold the book in a very high regard, I feel the need to read it when I'm "ready"--when I know I can give my full investment in the story, which just means the book will not be read for a long time (but I'll get there eventually lol)

    the name thing is so real. there are a couple of books I’ve dropped as soon as I realized the love interest has the same name as my best friend. I feel physically ill and I just can’t do it 😅 ahhh I do the same thing with reviews! sometimes I feel like I can’t properly put my thoughts of dislike into words and the negative reviews really help. and with negative reviews of books I love, I just have to skip ahead too. ✨protecting my peace✨ but also it depends on the person who’s talking about it, because I don’t mind hearing someone talk about why a book didn’t work for them, but not why a book shouldn’t work for anybody, and it’s the worst, and people who enjoy it are stupid and horrible etc etc. once it becomes less about the book and more about the people who dared to enjoy it, I just can’t listen 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @christeascozycorner
      @christeascozycorner  ปีที่แล้ว

      loool right, it just feels so wrong 😂💀
      TRUE, there are some people who i can still listen to them talk about it because they do make valid points and do it respectfully. i try to do this too but sometimes the passion becomes too much LOL

    yes omg i also procrastinate on reading books i think i'll love! like i've been wanting to read jade city for over a year and i'm 99% sure i'll love it but it's such a huge commitment and i just don't want it to be over when i actually read it yk? and like what if i don't end up liking it? i just don't want it to be a disappointment bc i have high hopes for it and i don't wanna ruin the vision of it that i have?? ik it sounds so stupid and i actually hate this trait bc i know i'm missing out on amazing books just to fill my time with mediocre or average ones 😩

And I will DNF a book so quick, like I’ve done it after just a couple pages before. A character can have one thought that makes me go “oh! YES! I will absolutely LOVE a book but in order to write a GR review a mere two days later I have to go back and look up the character names. How can I be so swept up into a story and yet have no memory for major aspects of it?!? This is yet another great video!
