Speaking of Disney, I am very surprised that most people do not get this mad at Amphibia for not taking out Marcy Wu's life after King Andrias stabbed her. True Colors began with Sprig Plantar warning us about _intense final scenes_ because the intense final scene in question was King Andrias stabbing Marcy with his fiery sword. Plenty of kids and even adults who watched it were scared and saddened that one of the three Calamity Box girls who was central to the main plot, was killed off on the Season 2 cliffhanger ending. The next episode, Anne Boonchuy is just as worried as all of us about Marcy's death, and denies that she is actually dead. Six episodes later in Olivia and Yunan, Marcy is alive again in the rejuvenation chamber because King Andrias has other evil plans by connecting her mind to The Core. I guess the only reason why almost nobody is upset about Marcy's sudden un-death is because Season 3 of Amphibia found a more meaningful role for her to justify keeping Marcy alive, than what Ahsoka did with Sabine Wren.
At the end of Season 3 of Amphibia, all three Calamity Box girls cry, reunite and reconcile for the third time in All In (the first time was in The Third Temple, the second time was in Battle of the Bands). In The Hardest Thing, they fight The Core as a team until Anne alone sacrifices her life to take out The Core. Literally 5 minutes later into that episode, the Calamity Guardian allows Anne to continue living a full life so she can keep improving herself until she is truly worthy of becoming the new Guardian of the Calamity Crystals, and ascending to that higher plane of existence at the end of her life. Anne, Marcy and Sasha say goodbye to all of their friends from Amphibia, and use the last of the Calamity Crystals' power to portal home to their families. Are you happy that Amphibia ended this way, with Anne and her friends permanently parting ways with Amphibia to continue living in their home world, or did you prefer for Amphibia to have a darker ending where Marcy and Sasha just had to live the rest of their lives with Anne already dead?

I love how drinker points how lethal lightsabers are and used to be in star wars. Whenever we had a good lightsaber duel back in the day we knew stuff was about to go down and we were either going to see beloved characters live or die or be seriously wounded and now its just a minor injury, which doesnt help us to be invested and devalues the suspense when theres lightsabers every other scene

In fairness, Luke losing his hand wasn't really a serious wound. He had a new hand and was good as new faster than Sabine recovered in episode 2.
The difference is that Lucas generally made sure if a character was going to survive a fight, they'd sustain plausibly survivable wounds that still demonstrated how dangerous lightsabers were. Maul would be the exception but only because Lucas brought him back to life after the fact. He'd never have written for a character get rammed through with a lightsaber only to walk it off, since that would cheapen lightsabers as a weapon. Having them cut someone's hand off in a flash, while not fatal and easily repairable in the SW universe, highlighted the dangers of the weapon.

Pointless lore dump: Witches in Star Wars are originally from the 2nd Ewoks movie, so 1985. The Witches of Dathomir were introduced in the 1994 book The Courtship of Princess Leia, which also introduced the Nightsisters (the Sith to the Witches' Jedi). The original witch from the Ewok movie was retconned to be a Nightsister, soon after.
The Clone Wars majorly changed the way the Dathomir Witches worked, ignoring the fact that non-Nightsister witches existed, changing Maul and Ventress' homeworlds to Dathomir, and making Dathomiri into half-Human half-Zabraks. This is, of course, the version of the witches that was imported into Disney canon.

The first thing was the massive jump in the way technology was used in special effects it looked like nothing anyone had ever seen before
The second was the interaction between that particular set of characters.
Everything else was just a rehash from a dozen other sources. It was never meant to be all that unique or original, more an homage to something that used to be done in a more modern setting.
For me I'm going to enjoy it for what it is, it's not like there's anyway I can make it something else so why not enjoy it as it is and be grateful there's something better to watch than the average crap served up repetitively.

@@neotoad456 LOL I'm 24 first off, secondly you must not know what the word overrealiance means, I can easily concede a *proper* and smart use of CGI and even green screens (to a degree), House Of The Dragon or especially Lord of The Rings are perfect examples. Even still, most modern movies will never come close; Apocalypse Now didn't have a single use of CGI or special effects, even the napalm strike they used a legit payload and had one single take, the choppers and APC's and boats and explosions and fire, for f*cks sake they actually had dead bodies from a morgue in a scene (though obviously I don't expect that from any movie lol), and virtually no war movie will ever come close to the sheer authenticity and immersion of that film and a few others in that league. Now admittedly and IMO that's a special film so I'll use the example of the original Star Wars, no other entry has ever felt as authentic and 'real' as the original trilogy, and it's because of the real props and stop motion and miniatures, the set models and detail, or take Alien and Aliens 1986-they feel incredibly authentic and it's easy to get immersed, everything looks and 'feels' real and modern entries to the franchise feel laughably fake and soulless.

I have a list of predictions on what's going to occur in Ahsoka:
-Ahsoka is going to get as much screentime as Obi-wan Kenobi did in Kenobi aka not enough to justify the show being named after her
-New characters Shin Hati and Baylan are going to hog the limelight instead of the Ghost team
-Admiral Thrawn is going to nerfed so hard
-Ezra is going to either barely appear or not appear at all
-There's going to be a segment of the story which doesn't fit into the main story but is included in order to promote another Star Wars tv series

    • @BottomShelfGames

Of course Thrawn is going to be nerfed. He went from what should have been a movie plotline to a show. Some might argue that a show can develop a longer more detailed story but from what we've seen already and from past works in show settings they don't use the medium very well.

@@BottomShelfGamesYeah, this is a really big misconception people have. Shows have the POTENTIAL to tell great story arcs that movies just can't do, but thus far for Star Wars (and other franchises for that matter) that is almost entirely theoretical. In reality, we end up with things that cost as much as movies with about a movie's worth of good content, worse production value, and a season worth of uninteresting filler to stretch what they have into show length. Disney is simply not capable of exploiting the long form and they have proven that repeatedly.

Star wars first premiered when I was a 13 year old kid growing up on a small farm. My dad was very selective in which animal bred with his livestock. Only the strongest and most beautiful creatures were allowed near his precious animals. One day, a scrawny little misfit from the herd jumped atop one of his best cows. Dad started whipping the hell out of that animal. I quickly realized why and joined in.
Years later, now, in the present, seeing all this Star Wars content being thrown at us, I kinda feel like my dad back in the day. I see my beloved Star Wars, the film that enthralled me and transported a young, bored cowkid from the mundane, dullness of life, like Luke Skywalker himself is being humped to death by unimaginative hacks with no understanding of Lucas' original vision.
I've given up on the latter Star Wars anything, preferring instead to watch the original big three in their original theatrical versions.

You’re telling me that Sabine is sneaking away to put on a private message that Ezra made for her, that Ezra recorded unbeknownst to all of us specifically for Sabine and he friendzones her? Like what? I think it's so ridiculous. It kind of reminds me of how Rachel Zegler has been saying stuff recently like “You know it's not going to be a love story” or “You know she’s not going to be saved by the prince” It’s that same kind of vibe, like they're intentionally avoiding a love story. Love doesn't undermine characters or the story they're part of, and I really dislike that this seems to be the prevailing sentiment lately. I understand Dave wanted to show that men and women can be friends without being romantic (which I think he already showed beautifully in Rebels and it's shown in various other Star Wars media) Yet, there's a need for understanding that at times, it's entirely acceptable for a woman to feel a sense of longing for a man and embark on a journey driven by love. It's a natural progression for the story and characters, and it just feels so unnatural after seeing Sabine's emotional display and attachment towards Ezra these past two episodes as well as Ezra’s obvious feelings for her in Rebels, to randomly insert “wEll aCtuALLy it’S SiBlinG lOve”.

Anyone hit with that would keel over and split themselves in half on the still ignited lightsaber. Only if the perpetrator immediately turns the saber off would you have a chance of surviving such a wound.

The Clone Wars was one of the best pieces of media in the star wars franchise, created by Dave Filoni almost 20 years ago. The shows writing was soo good with a cast of characters that were literally the same person, they still all maintained a level of uniqueness between each other, they acted with emotion and intelligence. The arcs of the show never lasted more than a few episodes but still were all unique with different villain's of different motivations, on different planets, and with different strengths and weaknesses. Granted the show was made for teens but it still felt more mature and emotional than the modern Star Wars does.

This made me miss my childhood watching soap operas with my grandmother on summer vacation. At least the stories were cohesive if not always coherent and each episode generally made sense within itself even if it might be retconned without any comment whatsoever the next week as someone was suddenly whisked off to recover from substance abuse or something like that. At least they had the excuse of being a daily program made every weekday almost without exclusion instead of half a dozen episodes done over the space of a year or so giving the writers every chance to make them coherent, cohesive, and complete. Ahsoka seems to be failing at all three of those tasks. And Drinker, you mad studly hero, you give these so-called writers too much credit with "room temperature IQ" because it seems more like "freezer temperature IQ".
Why can't Disney-Lucasfilm be relegated to the junk heap of history along with the crypt-keeper scarecrow running it into the ground? Just happy I have hard copies of the true originals that made my childhood awesome.

Lightsabers should never have killed someone with a thrust through the gut in the first place...because it's nonsensical. Lightsabers cauterize the wounds they make, meaning a thrust through the abdomen is going to create a clean wound that passes straight through. That wound will be cauterized, so exsanguination isn't a threat. The other reason that gut wounds have historically been as dangerous / deadly as they were is because such a wound was almost guaranteed to become septic due to the contents of the victim's stomach and intestines leaking into their abdomen. But even with modern medicine, sepsis can be treated. It can still be fatal, but not nearly at the rates it was even 80 years ago. So, if you were to stab someone in the gut with a light saber, unless you thrust upward and destroyed their heart, they would almost certainly survive in the Star Wars universe...particularly with a ready supply of bacta. Of all the lightsaber gut wounds in the series, the only one that should really be annoying is the one that killed Qui-Gon. Because it was ridiculous.

    • @frocat5163
      @frocat5163 ปีที่แล้ว

Well, if lightsabers are plasma, then the blades should be more than 11000°. Somehow they still don't burn the wielder's hand, though.
I can agree that we're unlikely to get anything good out of this (or any future) Disney shows, because they're being created, written and produced by complete hacks. But lightsabers have rarely been portrayed reasonably or accurately, with essentially every appearance / use of one requiring behind the scenes retcons to make them viable within the story. Yes, a 5000° lightsaber blade thrust through someone's abdomen would almost certainly vaporize a significant amount of their abdomen and kill them almost instantly. But if the blade is that hot, it would also burn off the weilder's arms and potentially ignite anything flammable within a few feet of the blade. If we're not going to complain about someone being able to use one, it's disingenuous to gripe that being wounded with one should be portrayed more realistically.

Tells you a lot about how every "star wars" lore expert has a take on the lore itself. SW universe is a mess of lore takeaways. Take for example lightsaber? It's supposed to be signature weapon of force wielders with one obvious exception in movie cannon that I can think off general grievous, but now, doesn't matter anyone can wield saber stick, they just need more time to hone the skill. - > I wonder where that came from.
Basically Novels and comics clash so much, a lot of what fans want to consider cannon is not a cannon and game media has different takes it's just everyone their own interpretation of what Star Wars universe is and isn't, since it became Decentralized (with Disney having now the biggest share there)
