he music of Armenia, with its long history of folk songs, has a fascinating uniqueness and distinctive flavor. This appealing setting uses five traditional Armenian melodies in a rhapsodic approach for band. Johnnie Vinson skillfully combines bold statements and driving rhythmic figures, contrasted with beautiful yet simple melodies, in a work that provides both excitement and variety.

At First there was peace. Every morning the percussionists would wake up the bass, the bass would wake up the brass, the brass would wake up everyone else. After a morning anthem everyone would play their instruments in harmony, until Tuba and Baritone and tuba got into a fight, they felt too much like each other and useless with the other. After a while Bass was in a heated civil war. Brass decided to join Tuba, Trombone, and Baritone Sax, who had left the other baritones for he felt like their values were not worth his time. While all of this happened Clarinets, Piccolo, flute, and the other saxophones watched from a distance. They didn't want to join the war but the flutes secretly funded Trumpets as they relied on each other in many songs. After a long time Piccolo joined the fight against Tuba, Trombone, Trumpet, and most of Brass. After a long while of fighting Tuba seemed like it was going to win the war, they had stronger, louder, and more capable instruments but then percussion joined the war. Bass drum, Snare Drum, Timpani, and Gong all joined against Tuba, for tuba was more powerful and overpowered the weaker instruments. Percussion's goal was to stop the war instead of fighting it. This dream didn't come true for a long while. Months later the band was in shambles, the only instruments that weren't in the war were most of the woodwinds, a few percussion, and the director himself. The Director was not able to keep the whole band together but tried his hardest. Finally a hope shined through, woodwinds and the rest of percussion joined with the Director to stop the war, but they couldn't do it alone, for the weak instruments were alone, only the weakest of percussion such as xylophone hadn't fought and the woodwinds could barely do anything, that's when they went to orchestra. They rallied the strings, they got hold of the pianos, and the oboes. They finally had their chance. The Orchestra and the remainders of the band instruments all attacked under the lead of the Director. They played their hardest and fought almost mercilessly but in the end they finally beat out the other band instruments. They were finally reunited. After they all had come back together the Tuba and Baritone were separated by a wall of Trombones and low horns. In the end the Civil War was gruesome and caused high tensions even to this day but after a long and brutal battle the Director and his team worked together and brought everyone back into a strong and harmonious band.
