  • This is a picture clip reenactment of Adam 12, LOG 105, Series 3, Episode 8. It commemorates the life and death of a slain L.A.P.D. officer. It is Officer Pete Malloy's first partner named Officer Tom Porter. It's not just a recounting of his achievements as a policeman, but a look at his life &and family, and the meaning of his loss to his friends and to the community. The song i chose in the background is "He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother by The Hollies. The song was released in 1969 but became a hit in 1970.

    Still one of the most powerful episodes from Adam 12 .from childhood into adulthood. I'm still moved by this episode. God bless all of the Police officers we've lost in the line of duty. I salute you 🙌🙏

    As a member of the NYPD back on the 60’s and 70’s I had occasion
    to attend many, many police funerals during that time. As I stood
    outside the churches as the caskets were being brought out along with
    ….thousands of my brother officers…I would ask myself…..why them,
    and not me. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one….who felt like that.
    God bless and watch over them all…….R.I.P.

      You were NYPD back in the day! Cool! Yes...i can see you and the other officers saying that to themselves...a solemn thought for sure! Yes..GOD's angels guard them in the line of duty.

      @@GK-rw2op I think I remember noticing that at the end too it must have been something they spun beforehand as they explained it’s semi-documentary purpose. It was heart rending and I remember being confused by its usage after I looked it up I suppose you could explain the idea of language rent for sound and context to explain it to a grammar school teacher.

    Not much has changed. The ending narration is still true. No one puts lays a plague, builds a statue, or marches in protest over the murder of a police officer, just criminals dying comminting crimes.
    I suspect this was probably the pilot episode because not only was the opening and ending credits different there is a plot error in the episode. Pete' Malloy's narration has him and Jim Reed both single with Tom Porter as the only married officer. In fact Jim Reed was married and his wife was pregnant in the first episode of the series.

    • @henryathurmanjr

      Sad but true. This episode was from Series 3, Episode 8…but it makes the most sense being the pilot.

      Actually it could have been the pilot episode. Remember episode 1 where we meet Malloy and Reed, Malloy was working his last shift, as his partner had been killed in the line of duty. It would actually make more sense for it to have been Tom Porter killed than another officer. But the flashbacks with Reed in them make it problematic at best.

    • @flashkellam7395
      @flashkellam7395 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hate the police? Quite the contrary. The use of the word “pig” (as a pejorative for the police) in the title is an example of the literary device of irony. Its purpose is to remind the enemies of Western Civilization (the leftists) that the police officer who dies in the line of duty does so in an effort to protect the citizenry from the criminal element. A fact unappreciated by the useless members of our society (the leftists).
      God bless all our first responders.

      @@henryathurmanjr That title was used because it was making reference to how many people felt about the police in the 1970's and the lack of respect many people had for them yet they were human beings with family and friends. The narrative towards the end of the show in the funeral scene really explains it all..... "And strangely enough, in view of current custom, no one will raise a placard to denounce his senseless murder. No one will raise indignant cries of protest at the shedding of his blood. No one will march in anger because of his death.".....In my opinion the title is perfect for the story being told.
