I remember watching Dan figure out how to capture the 1MC to a reel-to-reel tape drive in our shop, there was a little red record in the Cruisebook for that cruise, mine has long since vanished. Does that ever bring back the memories...
@@mrsollie Great times, I knew a half dozen of the guys in Mardet, the weapons elevator was right next to my shop and the Marines would provide security on the elevator.
I only do paint on the ships at Newport News shipbuilding. The bells sound the same, some of the machinery sound the same on the Nimitz classes as well. The drills are the same too.

Brings back so many good memories. I joined at 18 and was active USN 1978-85 and retired USNR in 2005. Now 60, wish I could hit the replay button.
This was a record that came with our Med Cruise. I still have the record and the cruise book. SN to BM2 Mize
JFK 1974 thru 1977. Couldn’t wait to get on the boat and couldn’t wait to get off. Have thought about it and have missed it ever since.
