  • fix your parking sensor problem. If one or more of your parking sensors start beeping even if there is no object close by, you might want to take a look at the parking sensors. These parking sensors are brand new and the front left parking sensors beeped while I was driving. I removed all the paint from the surface and the edges of the center part. This solved the issue. I will now paint them myself with touch up paint, will do that in an upcoming video. Do you also have a problem like this with your parking sensors?

¡Gracias!

I'm looking at my GM service manual right now and it says "Do not refinish previously painted sensors. Excess paint build-up will cause the sensor to
be inoperative." and "Ensure the paint does not exceed 6 mils". So, there, you have it.

Thank you! I am going to try this! All my sensors are replaced along with the wiring harness and I’m still getting those annoying beeps!

Very annoying indeed! Make sure the surface of the center piece is even, not too much paint if it has, and make sure the center piece is free moving, no dirt in the gap with the outer shell, let me know how it goes

I will try that, but mine is not working at all. Maybe it's the modules. I have a 2014 Town and Country van. It's starting to give me electrical problems. plus the cadlic converter say it's needs to be replaced. I think it might be the air sensor before the C C. I tried that and the sensors seem to be solid, can get at any cracks. But I sprayed them anyways.

Did you try removing the license plate holder, these sensors can detect close objects or mounted parts or even from Grill itself. If removing licenses plate or even bracket resolves it , then it’s just bad calibration from manufacturer for that car

Oh man! Thank you! I have the same issue after bumper and all this stuff painted. Looks like too thick paint layer there.

Yes, if they are uneven painted and maybe a drop of hardened clearcoat, try to level that out with fine sandpaper, and make sure, the center is not stuck to the outer ring with paint.

Thanks for sharing. So, the solution was clean inside the ring... Right? Doesn't matter the whole paint.
Or you can protect the ring inside adding some little paper before painting?

The inner cylinder must be free to vibrate, I would almost put a grease in between the space.

You are lucky that your systems alerts about a failure! These cheaper systems don't tell you. It just beeps continuously. Happy for you!

Can you just cover the gaps in between while you paint it?

I had a small plastic thing hanging on my towing hook (don’t know the english word) and it caused false alarm when backing up.

Interesting, the plastic protective cap caused interference?!

Guys this is totally incorrect , I believed what this nice gentleman believes at first but it turns out its just a con (or even a misconception) by main dealers to convince you to pay the extortionate prices ie BMW £179 each (comes painted ) ...
Not only have I replaced and painted my sensor
I have spray painted it with an undercoat, top coat and gloss and after testing it works perfectly , the reason they fail is because of the piezo material wearing out over time, inside is just a vibrating plate held within a spongey rubber filling , I replaced mine with one from Ebay ,afterall these things are so mass produced they cost no more than say £10 or $15 dollars each.

Thanks for your comment. Mine were also sprayed at a dealer, but the one misbehaving was the one where the paint was very heavy and with a clear coat drop on the bottom (let's call it out of balance vibration) once I sanded that flat, that problem disappeared. However, they are very keen to go off when a fly was on it, or if the inside is connected with the outside ring through dirt. It must vibrate freely. It's a bad design.

@@dimitrilikissas hi Dimitri , if that was the case then why didn't you complain to the dealers ?
I have taken apart and examined a sensor and noticed that the front is solid plastic there's no play on it so any amount of paint won't affect the vibration
as that comes from within a rubber filling inside. (I spray painted it myself)
