    I believe Steve was a little hard on this Mother yes she shouldn't have left that hair straightener unattended if the son was crawling around but Steve was very one-sided. My heart goes out to the mother and baby and I hope they learn from this mistake.

      Agree completely. Being a single mom is difficult and sorry, but Mr "my nephew this, my nephew that" if he cared so much, he'd be helping out. Steve had 0 clue what it's like to be a single parent and it's a non stop job. Your life becomes secondary but even so, everyone needs a break and mistakes and accidents do happen. She probably distanced herself from family for a reason. I did. I knew she was telling the truth. I don’t think people understand how hard it is to be a mother. I have a 7 month old that likes to do this bouncing thing when she’s on her stomach. If she bounces too hard, she hits her chin on the ground. I’m so worried she’s gonna hurt herself. I’ll have to take her to the hospital, and the hospital staff accuses me on abusing her. The thought of having my child taken from me is a phobia for me. I almost died trying to get pregnant and my baby girl is my rainbow baby. She’s my everything💕 it’s scary that it could be taken away so easily because someone THINKS you’re doing something.

      Okay, but again, a one in a million shot at the iron landing that way. So they ignore the next time and the kid dies because it's really being abused? Hospitals and family think for the best of the child, especially in a situation where it literally would never happen again on accident or to anyone else on accident. It wasn't like they accused her of sexual assault or punching the baby in the face, ect. This WAS a reason to highly queation it. It's exciting she was innocent, but let's not downplay the real reality of how this exact play out looked.

    The Brother with his "super cool" bowl cut running his mouth and Steve standing there smirking, blasting dumb questions, and talking down to her turned my stomach. Typical men who flap their jaws and don't know a thing about actually raising a kid because if he did he wouldn't have asked half those questions. She proved herself sure, but she had to be traumatized from being treated so terribly. She don't have to see Steve again but I would NEVER speak to my brother again after that ambush, which I suspect the show instigated him into because she didn't know he thought that and he clearly wasn't real swift. Kids have accidents but I guarantee you that Steve himself wasn't the super parent he demands that everyone else be. A freak accident is the roof falling in and injuring the child. Negligence is knowing you have a hot iron plugged in and leaving it turned on and plugged in where a baby can easily gain access to it. The mother did not mean to harm the child. But she needs to learn from her actions or else they will keep happening.

Do you know how hard it is to be a single mother? I don’t. But I can’t imagine it’s easy. And for her to still take the time to get ready is amazing considering most women sink into a horrible depression. Yes she should have paid more attention and yes she shouldn’t have allowed the baby to be in a position where he can pull down hot irons on himself but this happened within a second. She turned and witnessed it and probably ran as fast as she could. No one is perfect and no one ever will be. @Dan Verarde I wasn't saying she had to be a robot nor do I think any little failure makes someone neglectful, I *know* her and she was notoriously bad for not paying attention since my brother was more well behaved than her previous daughter; she was an alcoholic and wasn't neglectful enough for us to raise a court case after my dad's death she pickled her brain with alcohol for like 4 months straight and left my 7 year old brother to get himself ready for school, walk 4 blocks to school and he of course had no lunch, we got a call and that's when everyone else started to realize it isn't just minor things. I was being genuine; injuries happen, I'm accident prone and I have gotten hurt often despite my mother's best efforts. I am sorry if I made you think I believed parents had to be perfect to be good enough, my brothers mother isn't the worst mother in world but she isn't a great mother either. You can think I'm being too hard on her based off of a rough description of if you want but believe me(or dont), my calling her neglectful isn't like a incident here or there. Have a nice rest of the day, truly

    • @jayhunter0626
      @jayhunter0626 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mindymaria that's true, I don't think it's all or nothing to make a good parent, I am genuinely reminding parents because some don't know or forget that kids will 1000% pull on cables if left to their devices. Mistakes are necessary and bound to happen, parents are humans and humans screw up, like a lot; I gave a single example of my brothers mother who did a lot of other things for me to feel so negatively about her but my main anger is her not being a good parent. I lived part time with them and it was NOT a healthy household, regardless of length of time there I witnessed and experienced some messed up behaviour from her and I used to hold a lot of dislike for her daughter but I realized as I grew that a lot of it stemmed from her mother. Hope you have an amazing rest of the day! I genuinely mean it, I hope your day is well

And yes, she may not have asked him for help, but if everyone loves that boy as much as they all say, YOU OFFER to help and watch the boy you love so much. I immediately could tell that she didn’t do this on purpose. But you can also tell that she was overwhelmed just by being accused, especially all on national tv.
    Not once did I feel like she was blaming her brother like Steve said, and he was quite out of line for that. She said I asked for help. And apparently mothers aren’t allowed to do that nowadays. She Steve wouldn’t know that because he has a 2 parent household. A accident could’ve happened while she was shitting, or taking a shower. Just as easy as when she was getting dressed and when everyone in your house chooses not to help you then yes you are overwhelmed and tired and may skip up more times than she’ll chose to admit.

      @@MajorJim69 I made my comment before watching, but it still feels off. She wasn't paying close enough attention, she didn't secure child care, just because people heard what she said doesn't mean they agreed to watch baby. Accidents happen all the time, I get that. And I never said she did anything on purpose, but she was slightly negligent. Not saying she was purposely negligent but still she didn't make sure someone would be responsible for watching baby.

      @@leahsantini No one said she wasn’t neglectful. However, she asked presumably a family member or friend to watch the baby. She can’t help that they didn’t watch him. But yes, she should’ve watched her surroundings.

    A straightener needs to be plugged into the wall, on the end, and when it falls will end up straight down when there’s no more cord slack, crazyyy

    When My son was about 8 mos old and still crawling, I plugged an iron in and set it up on the floor. I didn't want to put it on the ironing board because I thought he could pull on the cord and it would fall on him. I didn't realize the iron was already on high setting and my son crawled over to it and got a small burn on his hand between his index and middle fingers. It was almost 2nd degree but it only took 30 seconds for him to crawl from one end of the living room to where the iron was in the other end of the living room for him to touch it and get burned. 🥺 Babies/toddlers crawling can move fast as hell and before you know it, kids can get hurt. I 100% believe this was not the mom's fault. I felt horrible when that happened to my baby boy!! I kept it wrapped up with gauze and burn ointment and even cut a little thumb hole in one of his socks to cover it further. He still has a small scar but I'm so glad I acted quickly and got him first aid care as quickly as I did.

    AS a single mother myself, I understand not always having your eye one your child 24/7, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. But in my opinion, I 'd make sure someone was watching my son before I even left a room with him unattended, I'd leave if I had verbal confirmation from someone to watch my son.. I can get up one moment to get him a pull up and he'll be climbing the couch and almost fall off, he'll try to pull my tv off my tv stand ( not every time he's near it, thankfully) Children are very unpredictable. I understand where Steve was coming from with his police background of so many years, but I also understand Amanda's side too. I cannot tell people how many times my son gets himself hurt, cries about it, then he's back to playing 2 minutes later. Of course I don't have a curling rod or flat iron going for him to grab, but I have made some mistakes as a mother myself and sympathize with Amanda and her situation.

    I’m sorry, but Steve annoyed the hell outta me. It was as if he wanted her to fail. Young women, older women, whether they’re single or not, gets overwhelmed. Motherhood isn’t easy, PERIOD. He could’ve shown way more compassion for her.

    Whoever she asked to watch the child so she could get ready is the one that really fell short and failed both the mom and the child.
