They are efficient in dying.
Stormtroopers were some of the most elite units in the galaxy. Your average trooper could wreck 100 rebels. One could probably kill a shuttle of rebels with no weapons. And almost every trooper was a clone.
@@John316_Acts2 Not really stormtroopers aren't really that "elite" an average trooper could wreck maybe 5 and I don't think stormtroopers get good hand to hand combat training and sure there were clone stormtroopers but that was in the early days

Excellent work as usual, so as far as a onscreen death thats a ratio of 25 to 1 in favor of the Rebels. That's some plot armor.
But then again the rebels had way less soldiers and personnel compared to the galactic empire. The survival rate percentage would be more accurate in calculating the strength of the plot armor

While the death count on stormtroopers is pretty high, we do have to consider than in a decent number of instances, getting shot with a blaster is not instant death, and many stormtroopers may survive these injuries thanks to their armor as long as the setting they're in doesn't prevent getting help (if a stormtrooper survives a blaster wound but is on a ship that blows up, they're still dead). This explanation kinda feels necessary when the capability of blaster bolts is different between series. In the Clone Wars, Rogue One and the Sequel Trilogy, there is a sense that it takes a lot of fire to fully kill someone in armor, and non main characters have a chance at getting back up from blaster wounds. In the Original Trilogy (and the Prequels I guess, they lack much non large scale blaster fighting), blasters were quite powerful but inaccurate, so people go down in one shot, but aim is pretty poor. In Rebels, The Mandalorian and some other media, the good side has ridiculously good aim and downs their opponents in one hit, but for reasons of child friendlyness or production costs, none of these blaster bolts carry much weight/power and main characters shrug them off while troopers go limp. The only way to balance out these different types of blaster damage, it makes the most sense to explain that a lot of the troopers survive (at least in the Rebel Era, we can lore explain away Clone Wars as the blasters being more powerful but less accurate and slower.) Anyhow, that's the end of my rant about how they ruined blaster combat in star wars by trying to make all the MCs John Wick (except those movies actually have weight to fighting).

Man stormtroopers were originally supposed to be like the "marines", especially compared to other parts of the imperial military such as the army troopers (who were also supposed to be more common than the average stormtrooper), and look how that now turned out and at this point all that is now just EU and in cannon they're just a joke.......

Expendible in the sense that the Empire were more willing to sacrifice Stormtroopers than the Republic, clones, even tho Clones were made just for war and didnt have families, while the Stormtroopers did

4million on screen deaths is still less than the soldier death count alone of WW1, so all things considered not the worst outcome... But once you amplify that by what's logically a galaxy wide scale, suddenly 4million becomes several billion.

Something that I thought was neat is that, in rebels after a firefight, some stormtroopers are animated to be clearly breathing. Guess the armor does work sometimes

People used to watch Star Wars for the story and lightsabers but now people watch them for the hallway scenes
