@Medraut but this was posted October 2010, Lis Sladen was diagnosed until Feb 2011 and died in April 2011. She nor anyone else would have known in this interview. She probably had the cancer at that point but not have known which is equally sad.

It's not fair because cancer takes the lives of too many good people. We've lost so many wonderful faces like Elisabeth and it's so unfair.
Words can not comprehend how much this lovely lady affected my childhood . I remember distinctly when she walked off the tardis in 1976 and I was crushed . When liz returned it was like she had never left . Pure gold . Always a special place in my heart for Sarah Jane smith and the 4th Doctor
I remember watching one of the last episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures back in 2011 when I was 10. I had no idea she'd died and then the memorial title came up. It took me a few seconds to process what was on the screen and I broke down. She was a great actress. Still miss her sorely.
Truly sad, her passing... It just occurred to me, given the date of this interview, that she must have been ill at this point (whether aware of it of not), as this is just approximately 6 months before she died... Still one of the most attractive (and ageless) women ever to be on television. A part of my childhood vanished when she died... :(
Such a beautiful lady! Both inside and out. I loved her when i was a little kid in the 70's, and that love for her only increased as the years passed by. I bought her autobiography this week (having only just learned of its existence), and started reading it earlier today. Already 90-odd pages in. It's very difficult to put down. I am thoroughly enjoying it, and would highly recommend it! I was so gutted when she died as, like most people, i hadn't realised that she was unwell. As my admiration for Lis started at such a young age for me, she will forever hold a special place in my heart. Gone, but NEVER forgotten, and she will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all those who ever encountered her wonderful acting skills. RIP Lissie, and thank you... \m/

She didn't want her young fans, especially, to get upset, knowing she was seriously ill. A beautiful lady who worked despite her poor health. She could have had undetected cancer for a long period of time and feeling unwell or it could have appeared quickly and aggressively. Sadly, Elisabeth Clara Heath-Sladen passed away in April 2011, only two months after diagnosis.
I really wish I could have snuck in here and told her she was very ill. She might have still been with us otherwise, to inspire hundreds more children, to see her daughter get married and to be the fantastic grandma we all know she would be, miss you Lis xxx

She did not deserve to go like this at all! Nobody deserves to! She will never be forgotten though and she'll be remembered for generations! Her show was growing from strength to strength and it's a shame she never got the chance to continue the show, let alone complete the fifth series. Everything was left incomplete Lis' daughter said that her mum was absolutely devastated when she realised that she wouldn't be able to complete The Sarah Jane Adventures. She really cared about it very much, and she felt like she was letting people down! But it wasn't her fault, nobody is to blame. Things were just very unfortunate! I HATE CANCER! She also never got to know how great she really was as an actress! :( I miss her so much that it hurts! I was a big fan of her work and I really wanted to meet her one day, and now I'll never get the chance to. Rest well Elisabeth! We shall meet with you again one day, when our time comes. Oh my god I've started watching the Sarah Jane adventures again because I loved it when I was a kid and I realized she died 8 years ago and I still can't believe that so many amazing people are dying because of cancer... It really breaks my heart
I loved the Sarah Jane adventures so much as a kid and now at 20 years old I realised that there was a 5th season that I wasn't aware of until yesterday. The 5th season nevef aired in Hungary and tho I've rewatced the show multiple times om the internet I've never knew there was 5 seasons
@TheDraykez It seems so, and it was only revealed by her daughter this week that she was diagnosed in Feb 11, so the series had been well and truly put on hold, one can only assume for budgetary reasons??...(previously I thought production of the 2nd half of Series 5 was halted because of her illness but this big gap is also a factor)

I was wondering which cancer she had....she was so vibrant and wonderful, so to be cut down in such a short time is horrible. Just goes to show you ened to look after yourself and watch out for any signs of health problems and get them looked at ASAP.

I think she'd probably had a facelift by this time, but my God, what a facelift - she looks about 30. She was actually 64 here. No 64 year old EVER looked this good
No, she just had good genes and looked after herself - same as what most people try to do, but she got there....why do people assume that surgery was involved, just because they look good.
It's scary when you think that she was sitting there so healthy and happy, but 6 months later...

Maybe, because cancer is a lot treatable when it's diagnosed earlier, if she was diagnosed by then(October 2010) maybe S5 would have been complete.

No, not necessarily. She died from pancreatic cancer, which usually doesn't cause enough symptoms to be able to be diagnosed until it's too late.
