@Medraut but this was posted October 2010, Lis Sladen was diagnosed until Feb 2011 and died in April 2011. She nor anyone else would have known in this interview. She probably had the cancer at that point but not have known which is equally sad.
It's a shame that Elisabeth died. I wish that time travel was real so that I could go back in time and save her. Even though Elisabeth Sladen has died, her character, Sarah Jane Smith, will always be alive in our hearts. R.I.P Elisabeth Sladen.
Stephen O'Donnell You could save her from cancer if you can warn her to get early treatment then she might still be with us. It's awful that this disease took her life. It's not fair because cancer takes the lives of too many good people. We've lost so many wonderful faces like Elisabeth and it's so unfair.
I remember watching one of the last episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures back in 2011 when I was 10. I had no idea she'd died and then the memorial title came up. It took me a few seconds to process what was on the screen and I broke down. She was a great actress. Still miss her sorely.
Words can not comprehend how much this lovely lady affected my childhood . I remember distinctly when she walked off the tardis in 1976 and I was crushed . When liz returned it was like she had never left . Pure gold . Always a special place in my heart for Sarah Jane smith and the 4th Doctor
Such a beautiful lady! Both inside and out. I loved her when i was a little kid in the 70's, and that love for her only increased as the years passed by. I bought her autobiography this week (having only just learned of its existence), and started reading it earlier today. Already 90-odd pages in. It's very difficult to put down. I am thoroughly enjoying it, and would highly recommend it! I was so gutted when she died as, like most people, i hadn't realised that she was unwell. As my admiration for Lis started at such a young age for me, she will forever hold a special place in my heart. Gone, but NEVER forgotten, and she will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all those who ever encountered her wonderful acting skills. RIP Lissie, and thank you... \m/
I read it after her sad death too... So hard to equate that she is no longer with us, when her voice from the pages still sing with so much vibrancy and a zest for life.
I can’t believe that it’s been 12 years since Elisabeth Sladen passed away. 😢😢😢😢. Because I watched the Sarah Jane Adventures when when I was 17 and I was 21 whenever she passed away.😢😢😢😢😢😢.
Truly sad, her passing... It just occurred to me, given the date of this interview, that she must have been ill at this point (whether aware of it of not), as this is just approximately 6 months before she died... Still one of the most attractive (and ageless) women ever to be on television. A part of my childhood vanished when she died... :(
I really wish I could have snuck in here and told her she was very ill. She might have still been with us otherwise, to inspire hundreds more children, to see her daughter get married and to be the fantastic grandma we all know she would be, miss you Lis xxx
Me too! *sigh* If only time travel was possible in real life, I would definitely jump in the machine and take the chance to prevent Lis' from an early death. Ugh! She did not deserve to go like this at all! Nobody deserves to! She will never be forgotten though and she'll be remembered for generations! I just wish she got the chance to live a longer life, like you said so she could inspire even more numbers than before. Her show was growing from strength to strength and it's a shame she never got the chance to continue the show, let alone complete the fifth series. Everything was left incomplete Lis' daughter said that her mum was absolutely devastated when she realised that she wouldn't be able to complete The Sarah Jane Adventures. She really cared about it very much, and she felt like she was letting people down! But it wasn't her fault, nobody is to blame. Things were just very unfortunate! I HATE CANCER! She also never got to know how great she really was as an actress! :( I miss her so much that it hurts! I was a big fan of her work and I really wanted to meet her one day, and now I'll never get the chance to. Rest well Elisabeth! We shall meet with you again one day, when our time comes. May you rest in internal peace! :'(
ZD Cosner I have to agree. If we all jumped in at that moment, we could have prevented it, but I guess what happened can't be changed. Its not fair! Elisabeth did not deserve to die that way. She seemed to care about the Sarah Jane Adventures so much, and she obviously wanted to continue with it. If she did, I'm sure that a lot of us would have got to meet her and she would have inspired many more people. When our time comes, we will meet her. R.I.P Elisabeth Sladen and goodnight Sarah Jane Smith.
Elisabeth Sladen was diagnosed with cancer in February 2011, only four months after she appeared on _The Wright Stuff_ and kept illness a secret from her fans. She didn't want her young fans, especially, to get upset, knowing she was seriously ill. A beautiful lady who worked despite her poor health. She could have had undetected cancer for a long period of time and feeling unwell or it could have appeared quickly and aggressively. Sadly, Elisabeth Clara Heath-Sladen passed away in April 2011, only two months after diagnosis.
It's hard to believe I was only 13 when Sarah Jane made her first appearance in Dr Who and that there are a whole new generation of children who follow her adventures on DVD. She was surely the best Dr Who companion of all.
She is by far far away, in a Galaxy a long time ago DEFINITELY the best Doctor Who companion ever... What a Stunna and watching her here makes me feel sooooooo sad 😭🤧☹️🥴😍
So sad, what an utterly beautiful lady, i dont see her looking ill here bless her she looks amazing, RIP beautiful lady, feel so sad everytime i see her now xx
Oh my god I've started watching the Sarah Jane adventures again because I loved it when I was a kid and I realized she died 8 years ago and I still can't believe that so many amazing people are dying because of cancer... It really breaks my heart
I loved the Sarah Jane adventures so much as a kid and now at 20 years old I realised that there was a 5th season that I wasn't aware of until yesterday. The 5th season nevef aired in Hungary and tho I've rewatced the show multiple times om the internet I've never knew there was 5 seasons
@TheDraykez It seems so, and it was only revealed by her daughter this week that she was diagnosed in Feb 11, so the series had been well and truly put on hold, one can only assume for budgetary reasons??...(previously I thought production of the 2nd half of Series 5 was halted because of her illness but this big gap is also a factor)
Hang on... she said she had already filmed half of Series 5 and this clip was uploaded on 26/09/10. She passed away 19/04/11, so the BBC did not film any more of The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 5 for 5 and a half months?! What the?!
I miss her 😭 Such a beautiful soul she Daniel Anthony Anjali Mohindr Tommy Knight made my childhood Is there any way I can contact Daniel Anjali or Tom noone of them have Ig so I can't DM or I may be wrong
I was wondering which cancer she had....she was so vibrant and wonderful, so to be cut down in such a short time is horrible. Just goes to show you ened to look after yourself and watch out for any signs of health problems and get them looked at ASAP.
Between 2002 and 2006 she recorded some drama's for Big Finish, the Sarah Jane Smith audiobooks - some of which included her daughter as the character "Natalie Redfern". There's 9 in total: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elisabeth_Sladen#Radio_and_CD_audio_drama
I think she'd probably had a facelift by this time, but my God, what a facelift - she looks about 30. She was actually 64 here. No 64 year old EVER looked this good
No, she just had good genes and looked after herself - same as what most people try to do, but she got there....why do people assume that surgery was involved, just because they look good.
"And we've filmed half of series 5"
I may have let out a little tear then. It breaks my heart knowing how ill she was here....
PompeiiProductions I was just thinking the same thing. she would have known she had the disease that that time. she just never said anything.
+Medraut she did not know at this point. They didn't find out about her cancer until 2 months before she died
yea i know.
@Medraut but this was posted October 2010, Lis Sladen was diagnosed until Feb 2011 and died in April 2011. She nor anyone else would have known in this interview. She probably had the cancer at that point but not have known which is equally sad.
Maybe, because cancer is a lot treatable when it's diagnosed earlier, if she was diagnosed by then(October 2010) maybe S5 would have been complete.
It's scary when you think that she was sitting there so healthy and happy, but 6 months later...
RIP Elisabeth Sladen, you marvelous, marvelous woman.
Apparently she was told that she had the cancer for at least 2 years before diagnosis
Poor liz
I know she been gone for a wile now but I miss her so much rest in peace Elizabeth sladen 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
My heart is broken
I cried when the stunning Liz Sladen died .
Such a beautiful talented friendly intelligent classy lady. She is part of my childhood
Did you know her personally?
A wonderful actress and a thoroughly decent person. She was the best companion on Doctor Who in my opinion God bless you Sarah Jane ❤ 😊
Such a lovely, charming, charismatic woman. I will never forget meeting her.
It's a shame that Elisabeth died. I wish that time travel was real so that I could go back in time and save her. Even though Elisabeth Sladen has died, her character, Sarah Jane Smith, will always be alive in our hearts. R.I.P Elisabeth Sladen.

It's not fair because cancer takes the lives of too many good people. We've lost so many wonderful faces like Elisabeth and it's so unfair.
Jayden Yugi Sadie says in her autobiography the cancer had been developing since 2008 :(
No, not necessarily. She died from pancreatic cancer, which usually doesn't cause enough symptoms to be able to be diagnosed until it's too late.
Time travel is real but we cant
But it's doesn't mean Sarah Jane has died, just the actress. Elizabeth will always be part of our childhoods:)
She just exudes class and grace. The world is a little colder and less bright now that she had gone.
Aww she has that Sarah Jane voice in her its like she's still in character, omg I love her so much.
I can't believe that she has gone. Goodbye Elisabeth Sladen. Goodbye Sarah Jane Smith. You will be for forever in our hearts [*]

me too, but she would have just called us mad and kicked us off! if only we had a TARDIS to prove we saw the future.
She probably knew already?
She looked amazing ,how on earth did she die so quickly so sad
Cancer is a bastard 😢😢

I loved Liz..still can't believe she left us too soon RIP tcx
Hard to believe she had passed away 6 months after this.

Her voice was part of her screen allure ...as much as the rich deep English tones of Tom Baker made him special too
Series 5 would have been shown around September 2011, so they wouldn't have re-commenced filming till around March, by which time she was too ill
So sad, what an utterly beautiful lady, i dont see her looking ill here bless her she looks amazing, RIP beautiful lady, feel so sad everytime i see her now xx
A truly glorious woman. May the most beautiful lights in the heavens shine upon her forever.
I miss her so much :'( she was such an inspartion for me and such a beautiful person both inside and out....
So glad to watch this. It's been blocked here for ages. RIP Elisabeth Sladen, My Hero, My Sarah Jane Smith x
I choose to believe that Elisabeth Sladen is enjoying another even more wonderous show.
What a woman !
Oh my god I've started watching the Sarah Jane adventures again because I loved it when I was a kid and I realized she died 8 years ago and I still can't believe that so many amazing people are dying because of cancer... It really breaks my heart
As Sladen aged she got better looking, as the rest of us age we just get old.
RIP Sarah Jane :(
It's ironic that she mentions series 5 as they were half way through that when she died.
RIP Lis, the whoniverse will feel strange without you.
RIP Elisabeth Sladen you were an amazing actress!
Shes so warm, still can't believe she's gone 13 years later
The most painful thing is knowing how ill she was at that point in time, whether she knew about it or not. xxx
She's so beautiful
I loved her such a warm person on and off screen too (clearly) xx
What a remarkable actress! So beautiful and innocent…..😢😭
she was SO beautiful, i hope i age half as well as her
I loved the Sarah Jane adventures so much as a kid and now at 20 years old I realised that there was a 5th season that I wasn't aware of until yesterday. The 5th season nevef aired in Hungary and tho I've rewatced the show multiple times om the internet I've never knew there was 5 seasons

Hang on... she said she had already filmed half of Series 5 and this clip was uploaded on 26/09/10. She passed away 19/04/11, so the BBC did not film any more of The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 5 for 5 and a half months?! What the?!
TheDraykez she was probably too ill to carry on
She was diagnosed in February 2011, around the time they were due to recommence. Her illness came very suddenly
Oooh! I didn't know there was a series 5 of SJA!!

"A tear Sarah Jane"
She was 63 here. Can you believe it?!
Really?
This is so hard to watch; she is almost unbearably lovely. Such a terrible, terrrible thing to happen. :'(
I miss her 😭
Such a beautiful soul she Daniel Anthony Anjali Mohindr Tommy Knight made my childhood
Is there any way I can contact Daniel Anjali or Tom noone of them have Ig so I can't DM or I may be wrong
They say that Donna Noble was the most important woman in creation, Rose clearly never met Sarah.
she did though in school reunion
She says they've filmed half of series 5 so she would have known at this point she didn't have long left with us....... :-(
Mark Richards she didn’t know until 2 months before she died
R. I.P
She died a year later unbelievable
Rab carn she died about 6 months later
So sad to think that she was sat there with terminal pancreatic cancer without knowing it 😭😭
I was wondering which cancer she had....she was so vibrant and wonderful, so to be cut down in such a short time is horrible. Just goes to show you ened to look after yourself and watch out for any signs of health problems and get them looked at ASAP.
Good bye Elizabeth. You were the best. Sarah Jane was cool

What I think that’s weird is that my name is SLADEN like what!
@TheDunHorse
She was gorgeous @ 65! :-(
But they could animated untold story and the cd adventures
Between 2002 and 2006 she recorded some drama's for Big Finish, the Sarah Jane Smith audiobooks - some of which included her daughter as the character "Natalie Redfern". There's 9 in total:

If she still alive would she make more series
Jesus, she literally didn't age.
Soz, I really didn't get it, lad... :-)
No need to add anything else. How can you imagine you'll have cancer and die in a six months' time???
2:13
Hay what about Davis tenant and mattshith
Lewis Kent David tennant and Matt smith
