The turn starts off with a flurry of activity in the Political Phase, but bad weather puts a damper on things. The march towards a shooting war in Europe continues...
You said that Italy and Germany bid 2 but later during the actual picking of political option you said that both bid one, which was it? If both chnages it wont change the outcome, just the cost. Also wonder about the German activation. If they had done the +3 first, Finland get into light grey, if they then do the -2, wouldnt they than enter dark grey, or is the -1(for the cost of a move within the ideology towards a major) only applied to when its a posivite number that is used and not a minus(moving away) move?
Some very bad rolls for the Spanish Civil War, as well as the push from the Empire of the Sun Campaign. Would be great to have some better WiF turns on May/Jun. What would be the best option for Germany? West?
Yay! Once war breaks out, I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on whether the various powers seem to be underbuilt, compared to the 1939 WiF default setup forces.
Thank you! Very interesting series to watch! Maybe one day you could game master an online streamed random beginner player digital version of the digitial WiF game? ;-) I own it but never got far alone.
Very typical of RNG to influence so much of the action, but that's part of the fun. If I were to comment, from bitter experience, Italy should consider in the next few turns building a few CPs. If Germany is going west first consider not attacking the Netherlands before you get to Paris, with surprised units not having zoc, you should overrun Belgium quickly. Thanks for making these.
It's a valid question, but as the other post pointed out, there are modifiers that allow you to get to the higher results like 14+. The most common modifier will be the length of time the MP is at war with a Democrat. However, since this only gives a +1 per year, it will take awhile for that modifier to really boost the die rolls. The other modifier involves the number of Democrat MP's at war. So as the global conflict widens and draws in more MP's, the US Entry level is likely to go higher faster.
Actually, no. Unlike Treaties (which are political agreements between MP's), Minor Country Alliances only provide a casus bellum for the MP Ally of the Minor if someone else DoW's the Minor. In order to bring a Minor actively into a war, the Minor's political marker must be stacked with the allied MP currently at war. So unless the Democrats can shift Poland's marker into one of their hexes on the Status Display, Poland would sit out any potential war between, say, Germany and France and/or the CW. In WiF/DoD this presents Germany with a viable "West first" strategy, assuming the Democrats don't (or can't) successfully get Poland's marker into their hex. And that is not an easy (or cheap) task in DoD. Czechoslovakia is much more likely to join any war between France and Germany, but Germany has a couple of political options that remove the Czechs from the board peacefully (and are very difficult for the Democrats to stop if the Fascists are careful about how they do it). In order for Germany to go east, though, something will eventually have to be done about Poland. Germany does start with an alliance with Poland, which can make it a bit easier to bring the Poles into the Fascist ideology. But it won't be cheap and it will take as much of, or perhaps more given the French alliance with Poland, an effort as we've seen Germany expend on Sweden so far this game (and the Swedes still aren't in a position where the Germans can align them if they go to war).
The next episode has been filmed, and the one after that is about halfway filmed. I am trying to find time to edit the next episode (M/J'39) this week. If successful, I expect to be able to upload it by next weekend.

US entry, Shouldnt it be 2 dice? as the max is 14+?
nope bc you are getting certain modificators
@@czujnywilczek6832 ok, just wondering
@@kentnilsson465 you can see even on a chart moduficators +1 for each year fighting +1 for every occupied city etc.

Wouldnt an attack on France also open up for an attack from Poland since they are in an alliance, I assume it goes both ways?
