With the year nearly over, I think it would be nice to see a "bridge review" review. Yes, a look back at all the bridge reviews from over the year. Maybe a count down from best to worst.
Hmm... the planes approaching the Archiport seem to be using the "oscillation overthruster" which was perfected by the engineer/rockstar/neurosurgeon/test pilot Buckaroo Banzai.
RCE great video , but the commercial In the pit is actually industry and I think you should cover the top of the pit above the dark side with bridges and that will make the planes more fun to watch
I've just found your videos today after redeveloping my Cities Skylines obsession, watching your realistic build of Engitopia really made me want to build my own realistic city. I'm obsessed, thank you so much for your content!
for some reason the landfills & windmills reminds me of the time when my granddad (who was always super serious) took my brother & me on a road trip through Georgia where he grew up, and as we were going over a bridge, he slowed down to well below the speed limit and rolled down the windows to make us smell the paper factory. He thought our reaction was hilarious. For those who don't know: paper mills STINK!
When you separated the two halves you should have made an access road to engitopia so THEY can come in and work and do the landfill work. The architects then cannot escape and they can only work at the landfill.
Nice planes. I noticed they have Trans-Dimensional Phase-Gates Built in to allow them to travel through different dimensional planes in order to pass through solid objects. Truly a marvel of engineering.
Skylines and timber born and hydroneer are the reasons why I still follow this channel. Games that you have freedom to screw around always turn out good content
The airport reminds me of that military thing where the c-130s had to dive almost vertically and land because there were anti-air guns cutting off the airport. Grim Reapers here on youtube did a reenactment in DCS.
4:00 I actually looked over at my stove because I thought I had left my teapot boiling. Well played. Edit: As a motorcycle rider, I would love it if every city had a roadway like the one at 5:24. It might be an engineer's nightmare, but the CORNERING would be so fun.
I think your poocano is just filling with water because you built the Eden Project in the Pit. I'm pretty sure the Eden Project disables pollution generation
Seems like "The Pit" is a good opportunity to test the limits of those cable cars from the Mass Transit DLC. Have the airport and/or a bus stop, etc up on the ring with some cable cars to shuttle people up and down. 🙂
matt, u need to put crematoriums adn cemetary's literally EVERYWHERE to clean up the detah problem. THen more people will move in and make more poo for the poocano
It seems like RCE cares more about the architects over the engineers. He claims he is building prison cities for the architects to remove their diseases from the engineering lands, but he provides well supported cities (if a little bit smelly) that have full range of fire, police, ambulance and rubbish services. They have fully thought out districts and well designed and innovative bridge designs to quickly travel from suburbs to workplaces. Meanwhile in the engineering lands there is mass famine, disease, floods, traffic problems, and rampant crime and death. Instead of solving these problems for the engineers he forgets about them to build new, respectable districts for the architects to live in. In conclusions. Real Civil Engineer is an architect lover and should embrace his secret passion as a Real Design Architect (RDA).
Are you secretly an architect and built the city to PROTECT the architects? Also I have definitely definitely seen worse places... I have been to Chatham... urgh
Check if you have something called the Eden Project placed down. If you do it is what is stopping the poo outlets from making pollution. If you want them to make poo again you would have to remove the building.
To be fair, having a 2nd roof over my roof would REALLY cut down on my electricity bills in the summer. keeping your house cool when it's 115-120+ degrees outside is expensive.
We have to give credit where credit is due. The fact that they did the impossible and it didn't collapse, means these architects were working with some genius *engineers* when making that cantilevered roof.
RCE is one of the few people I have ever seen that does not know the difference between commercial and industrial. He keeps calling the industrial areas commercial.
12:15 of course the lamp posts are upright. As any good architecture knows, light always falls down thanks to gravity. It's not like they could have the post built perpendicular to the roads, if they did the light would just fall out of the lamp, completely missing the road.
As an engineer, the easiest solution to getting your architects in would be a 6 lane tunnel in and a one lane tunnel out with cars restricted. You don't want them to even remember the beautiful views on their way up. Could you hollow out a mound so that there would be no sky?
Yo this reminds me of the city of La Paz in Bolivia, it is not this dramatic but it is in a pit. And a very dense city. Also great video civil engineering!
I need more Engitopia, I’ve been here since here since the 696,969 sub special (nice) and loved you ever since, but there has been a lack of Engitopia ever since…., we need more of this! Please RCE
I wonder if this city would be fixable if you apply some reason and add like some death care and get rid of some of the sewage pumps so poocano doesn't overflow. Maybe check if people are still getting sick from water or if there's something else causing issues like noise.
I feel like a tunnel would have been more fitting. A dark never ending tunnel. It will be like going to hell and your mood will drop into a sufficient sad state before entering architown. Also would keep the tears of reality away.
Lol, this video recalled me that some engineers would be building a bridge over the faculty of architecture of the university of Porto. Future architects will be learning under the shade of it. 😅
Not sure if you read comments RCE, but thank you for posting daily. Had a crappy day at work, just to find out that my flight to see my wife for the Christmas was canceled. This video has given me a few minutes of entertainment so please keep it going!
The cantilever roof was indeed excessive, but it could serve a couple of purposes. I doubt rainfall has anything to do with it, but it seems to be used for a low energy way to cool buildings in desert climates. For one thing it would be a great way to reduce heating of the roof and walls caused by the sun. It also looks like it could lift up cool air and even drive localized advection to cool the surrounding area which would otherwise just stagnate and accumulate heat on the surface. The leaf-like form is clearly an architect's fault though, don't get me wrong.
"All they can do is look up and wonder what life is like outside the walls" made me think of Attack on Titan. "On that day, mankind received a grim reminder. We lived in fear of the Engineers and were disgraced to live in these cages we called walls."
Day 106:Dear Matt, I have a very good video idea Gather all your editors and make them all have a fight on like a PvP game (e.g. Minecraft,Rust,Ect,ect...) And see who is the best editor and is worthy of the rank of a classified engineering. From me.
What about making a bus line going to The Pit and banning it from using the shortcut (the buses will use any shortest possible route, no matter how long it is), then putting dozens of buses on it, sit down and watch the line do its magic.
I hope in a video soon you actually try to make it somewhat functional because honestly that city could be insane especially if you actually got into industry and that.

The architect colony is peaceful and prosperous while the engineer town is falling apart and everyone is dying. That's shockingly accurate.
