I thought it was weird i got a headshot on something with less than 100%!
Bad advice always charge your shot, trying to go for a 50% charge shot on a tracer kill with it only being a kill if it's a headshot is going to get you killed

Widow main here, these tips are great. Just to add a bit, remember to change ur positioning often. This makes it harder for the enemy team(and possible enemy snipers) to deal with you and can give you better shots. And speaking of shots, don't always wait for the perfect shot. Take the shot. Don't hope for them to slow, stop, etc. TAKE. THE. SHOT. It's okay to miss, it's okay to land body shots. Sometimes you will get a lucky hit to kill, sometimes you will get a body shot and force them back or be able to kill with another shot, sometimes just the shot will just intimidate them to back off from somewhere. Take the shots, don't be scared of missing. Good widows miss too. Trust me, the more you go for it and stop worrying about missing, the less stress you will feel, and the better you will play because of it. Happy sniping

@@tomahawktravis you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Much worse than a realistic ~50%. Besides, widow can brutally injure someone even if she doesn't one-shot them. Enough to make them reposition from their team, beg for a heal, and overall make them a free kill for your team. Hell, the giveaway of there even being a Widowmaker in the area is enough to send an intellectual scrambling

I think the best tip for Widowmaker is to always be changing your position. This may sound trivial but players often find themselves just sitting there and shooting. Moving around can surprise opponents and let you land shots more easily since they aren't trying to dodge.
yea very true. very quickly they'll learn where you are and cover around that, or a reaper/genji will easily flank while you're tunnel visioning.

Yeah dive the widow while you are defending, see how well your team does without a tank for 4 seconds
@@Daeyae what are you ranked bronze???? Everyone does this and if you’re telling me you need the tank glued to your ass to succeed then you’re dumb. He’s a dive character meaning he’ll comeback quickly so idk what your point is.
I would have suggested that her auto rifle should be used more. Most new widows only try to get the headshot on close or diving targets rather than understanding the gun coupled with the poison is a fine way to kill someone. It doesn't all have to be headset sniper stuff

Update: it's now crucial to go for the 100% charge shot as that increases your one shot potential now that they changed her range.
Every shot is a hard shot in a game where everyone is moving at mach 10 speeds.

When sniping on any game, don't focus on bringing your crosshair to the enemy let the enemy come to your crosshair, place it ahead where you predict them to go and shoot when they line themselves up its much more consistent
This is an incredible guide! Just for anyone who sees this in the present, the third one is a tad iffy now since everyones health is increased, projectiles are larger, and damage increase
When it was 6v6. I felt like its easier to carry the team with widow. Now that its 5v5 i need to be helping the tank disperse the damage hence need to use different heroes that are a bit more open.
Honestly I haven’t played since release but if I get back on I’m glad to have these tips on hand thanks!

Im a bit late to the video here, but as a Hanzo main, the first tip also heavily applies to him as well. Also, in general, a shot is easier when youre on even ground with your target, as they can only really move left or right, but when you're above or below, back a forth movement is identical to up and down.
yk i always wondered why it seemed like i was sitting too long as widow trying to charge a shot, never really thought there was a better way, so this helps a bunch

Another thing to add to the Widow 1v1 is that if they wait for it to be 100% then they are in a slow movement speed for longer than you giving you even easier time to headshot
The charged shots part is probably the most important one.
Wow that last tip if super helpful. I love widows design but I'm terrible at snipers. This is a nice tip to remember 🎉
One tip for the grapple is that you can both combone the trick shot of it while repositioning. If theirs a high ground your going to then use the jump at the end to slingshot yourself and go for an air pick then land on the highground that you planned to land on anyway. Your not always gonna hit them but on the times you do it could start the team fight in your favor and get you to a better position all in one.
I would say I’m above average on widow (and sometimes on cr*ck or something) and the two things I would recommend on window are: be unpredictable, it’s easier to hit headshots when they don’t know where you are, and you do have a team even a bodyshot can secure a kill for your teammates (or yourself)

another thing i want to add, for the 63%, the arrows at the bottom of her sight are 33% each and make a sound effect, if you wait for the first 2 to activate thats 66% and will one shot a 200hp target

I’ve played widows for years, if you don’t know you grapple the ground and jump to get a bunny hop. You can use this technique as another sort of movement in a 1v1 against squishy heroes like another widow.
Now you do need 70%+ for everyone
The 63% thing is something I didn't know the few times I swap widow, that will be a game changer.
Another tip i feel thats often overlooked, is you don't ALWAYS have to go for headshots... She does significant damage, and hitting a lower damage body shot is better than missing a headshot... And this really goes for all heros

@@wooper2094 practice with AI ? quick play not ranked make a aim trainer or join one and practice so many other ways , yet i think there are better dps to be that benefit a team better some pros play widdow and it works but first get good in other game modes not hop into rank and expect to cod snipe same with hanzo benefit the team on rank not your dreams and hopes of being good at the characters 🙃

Always throw a poison mine in front of you while in a surprise 1v1 with someone, very often it'll kill them off evne if they kill you beforehand.
If you're posted up somewhere, ALWAYS put a poison mine behind you far enough away that it gives you time to flee if you hear it detonate and close enough for you to know where they're coming from.
Besides the grapple talk, I did not know about these other aspects.
As a Widow main, this information is actually really helpful for newer widow players, I cannot count the times I’ve seen people use her grapple to reach easy to get to places, or try a grapple shot and miss entirely.
I rarely played Widowmaker back in the 1st overwatch and this sounds like a really good guide. thank you👍
To hit more shots I’d recommend not tracking the enemy with your crosshair but rather predicting and aim in advance where the enemy will go. They way if they are too fast you can still hit them with the right assumptions and the speed of your reaction

Nobody’s gonna remember that percentage, they are just gonna do the full charge like a normal person
A good tip I have for widow is that sometimes playing high ground is worse than being on the same level as your team/the enemy team. Landing a shot is much easier when you only have to worry about horizontal movement on the enemy. When you’re on high ground enemies move vertically and horizontally from your point of view, so its much harder to land shots on them. It’s also much easier for your team to heal you and enemies might also not be able to dive you when you’re close to the team. You don’t have to always be alone when playing widow
I go for the trickshots because in the end you are playing to have fun
Number 4 they only focus on head shots. Do some body damage to help ur team in there fights to give them the advantage.

Another one. Try moving. Plinking someone in the head only works once. Reposition every few shots, kills or not, to not get your sniper perch bombed

I found that waiting for 100% can be a waste of time. I find if I don’t let it charge all the way and just start shooting I can land more damage than if I waited each time. Getting them low enough for the team to push.

Another bad habit I see from enemy widows is peaking the same spot a lot.
I’m a Mei player, and it is my absolute favorite thing to watch a widow either just stand still for multiple seconds or watch them peak the same corner a lot. My play style is very jumpy, so I’m not an easy target for a bad widow. Do not keep peaking the same spot if you see someone fire at you. Move or wait a moment. I kill you in two hits, and if I already have one on you, I’m looking for that elim.

My dumbass forgets she has a non-scope gun attack so I get found and start freaking out like "I am about as defenseless as a Mercy Main who is unaware she has a gun"

Another way to think of this is 150hp one arrow charge 200hp 2 arrows and 300hp 3 charges
