    Subscribed! I own a few water parks in India, and even though a lot of stuff shown in this video isn't available here in India readily, the video helped a lot. We get a lot of people everyday in the pool and so we need to shock the pools everyday. We need the pool clear within 12-15 hours. It's a tough job to do.
    We manage to keep the water blue, but keeping it clear and non cloudy is the biggest problem.
    Have been trying to find an answer for that at our scale. We manage about 1 million gallons of water a day per water park.

    No need to shut down pump after vac. Simply open drain valve, close vac/skimmer valve. Remove vac hose, then reverse valves.

    When you first open your pool and your vacuuming the algae that pool shock hasn’t removed setting on the bottom of the pool , what setting should your filter head be set to? Thanks

    • @Poolelementary

      I like to vacuum to waste when removing the initial algae to get it out of the pool but you can use your filter position as well.

    • @Poolelementary

      As far as I understand the water goes from the vacuum to the filter and then from the filter to the pool again and then when we finished vacuuming we have to clean the filter letting out that water to the drainage. Is this correct? This is a really helpful video! Thanks

  • @sagadg1

    Any reason why not to vacuum to waste instead of using filter and backwashing? Im opening a pool using a vacuum for the first time and am thinking that's the best way right?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Vacuuming to Waste does use quite a bit of water but is one of the best ways to remove dead algae and the smallest debris from your pool. Running the vacuum through the filter will save you water but you will have to vacuum multiple times to get the filter to take it out.

    when your about to clean pool do you turn the pump off to shut off main drain or can it stay on while shuting off drain?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      As long as your sure you have a valve that only shuts off the drain your good to shut it with the pump running this should instantly double your suction on the skimmer.

  • @thomasr6707

  • @blackhouse7646

    Should the filter be cleaned before doing this?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This totally depends on how dirty the pool is but if your pressure is up 3-4 lbs from the clean filter pressure and your pool is pretty dirty then yes I would clean the filter before vacuuming so you have adequate suction to your vacuum. If your just doing some spot clean up like just the corners or some debris that settled just in the deep end or something your probably good to just vacuum and clean the filter afterwards. I never like my pressure on my filter to be over 8lbs from the starting pressure of a clean filter.

    Hey do you put your pump on waste or backwash?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can either vacuum to waste or on filter setting. Remember if you vacuum to waste your going to lose alot of water so I normally vacuum on filter then backwash when done if needed.

    I was told by my local pool supply co the skimmer plate is only intended to be used with a certain brand of filtration system. I need to vacuum heavy debris (pine needles) and originally thought this would be the solution so the skimmer basket would catch the debris. Is this wrong info?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Skimmer vacuum plates that fit over your skimmer basket is the solution. You don't want all those pine needles plugging up your lines. You should be able to find one that will fit your skimmer. If not they make leave style Vacuums that have a bag attached to the that you hook up to a garden hose and it pushes the debris up into the bag.

    • @donbrownist
      @donbrownist หลายเดือนก่อน

      Adam, look into leaf filters that install in-line just prior to the skimmer connectiom.

    Hey I have a question I thought you were supposed to keep the filter on backwash while vacuuming?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely do not vacuum while filter is on backwash. In backwash the water is running backwards through the filter and will plug your filters laterals which are the screens that keep the sand or glass in the filter

    At 3:34 you’re losing me about the pressure when exactly am I checking that gauge before I do anything or after I turn off the main drain or after backwashing. Sorry I’m such a rookie with a new home and in ground pool and know nothing about it. Maybe go into a bit more detail about the gauge and back washing before or after vacuuming. What do I do if it’s up over 10 so many questions. Thanks

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello Don, all you need to know is your clean filter starting pressure, which can be found by backwashing and cleaning the filter. Backwashing for a couple minutes should do the job. After that you will have your starting filter pressure and then just repeat the backwashing procedure everytime the pressure is up by 8-10 pounds.
