Hmm
It should even be "ikinagagalak". Lol. But no one really uses that phrase, not even the most native Tagalog speakers. It's a direct translation from English and also an unnecessary phrase for us.

Love and support from the philippines!💗
Guys as someone whos filipino but was never taught i just hope you remeber what it was like learning english. cuz in america youll rarely hear someone say "hello, nice to meet you. Whats you name? my name is ____" because of all the slang we use, it would be more like "hey im ___ whats your name?" but someone who is just learning the language wouldnt know that. You have to learn how to speak formally before you learn slang
as a filipino, we usually dont talk like this. this is way too formal, but it does teach you the formal way to speak. In here, we usually use slang words to communicate and almost all our sentences contains english.
Yeah if I was the one who are learning this one, I would sound like an ancient tribe.
sana ol
True, buti nlng ung mga celebrity foreigner dto katulad nlng nina dasuri Choi marunong sila mag salita ng slang words, mas naiintindihan ngayon
True, we mostly mix english and tagalog.
Well para sa mga taong nag aaral ng Filipino, talagang ang formal way muna ang aaralin nila kase ung casual mapag aaralan lng nila pag araw araw nila ginagamit ang Filipino.
I'm just grateful that the words are not written in a hard way like Thai, Chinese, Japanese

I'm a native bisaya speaker. Filipino and English are my second languages as i learned both languages together. I appreciate this channel for teaching Filipino. Tho they said it's too formal, it proves that the language is fluid. If a person (specially a foreigner) would speak formal Filipino to me, I'll really find it amazing.
Exactly!!! also Filipino is based on Tagalog. i hope you don't mix Bisaya and English, and, Filipino and English.
not having exact translation is not an excuse there are literally thousands of Filipino and Bisaya words.

Too formal is the way to go, as a native kapampangan speaker our languages are slowly dying and replaced by English and the Philippines is not even an English country.

Oh! My former law classmate is half Greek half Pinay.
To those who are saying that the lesson is wrong just because they teach what we call “malalim na salita”. Remember, those who watch this are foreigners who want to learn our language. It is just right to learn the formal way of speaking. Yes, here in the philippines we don’t use those kind of sentences because we are all filipinos. If we talk to each other we just add “po” “opo” to be respectful. But when we talk to foreigners we must be more formal to have our nation more respect. Hindi yung pag sumagot ka sa kanila ang sagot mo e sagot pang kalye. Remember they are not natives. Just like in korea. They have honorifics, formal and informal ways of speaking. Those who are learning are encouraged to learn the formal way before the informal because it is more polite using formal in talking. Same with tagalog. It is just right to learn the more polite way of speaking tagalog than what we usually use in daily speaking.
Yeah I'm kinda disappointed by some Filipinos in the comment section, because little did they know they're discouraging Foreigners to learn the language

Any recommendation will be welcome
Basic Tagalog: (Daily conversation)
Kumusta ka? = How are you?
Ano ang pangalan mo? = What is your name?
Ang pangalan ko ay... (Ako si...) = My name is...
Ako ay mabuti. = I am fine.
Maraming salamat = Thank you so much
You are welcome = Walang anuman
Ano ang ginagawa mo? = What are you doing?
I am (doing).. = Ako ay... (present tense)
Kumakain = eating
Naliligo = bathing/showering
Natutulog = sleeping
Naglalaro = playing
Nanonood = watching
And you can also ask for a help to your filipino friends there. 👌

This video kinda represents a formal way of introducing yourself. So if you wanna be "informal" and just straight-up wanna have a simple, friendly conversation with one, use these as an example:
"Hi, ako si ______, ikaw?"
Translation:
"Hi, my name is ______, you?"
For elderly people:
"Hi po, ako si _______, ano pong pangalan nyo?"
Translation:
"Hi, my name's ______, whats your name?" its the same, but with manners, since "po" is an extention used in Filipino sentences as a way to showcase your manners. While "opo" basically means "oo" which means "yes" in English, is another way to be a mannered person in Philippines. You could use this on elder people. There's much more to add, but it's my pleasure to give these tips to my fellow learners.

It's a symptom of their colonial mentality qnd inferiority complex to their own race. First generations Filipino migrants in USA really believed that by not speaking the language they will be as white as possible or an image of their colonial masters. Lol.

No. It's very easy. I tried japanese it's 20x harder.
Idk but as an Indonesian, some of the words are kinda like in the Javanese language (especially the numbers) with an East Indonesian accent.
It makes it easier to learn but also hard at the same time because in Javanese most of the A are pronounced as O.
But besides that, Filipino is really easy to learn for Indonesians.
Mahal kita Pilipinas, at salamat sa iyong tulong
To be honest as a Filipino it's hard for me to learn filipino language since my mother tongue is bisaya and mostly of people here in Philippines don't used filipino instead they used tagalog, because tagalog is a mix of different languages like English, Spanish, Chinese, and etc. languages. Almost 90 - 95 percent of Filipinos can't speak straight or fluent in filipino language without mixing it to english.

I like this style of learning. I am coming to live in the Philippines again in a couple of years. This time I am determined to learn before I get there, so that I can at least hold a basic
conversation.
This is a very formal way to learn Filipino, but hey! It's all good. We usually tend to speak in slang language and "Taglish" which is a mix of Tagalog and English.
In Manila
Tagalog is way beautiful, flexible, and complex.
Tagalog is spoken by the Tagalog ethno-linguistic group, with 28 mil. speakers.
Filipino has 45 mil. speakers
These two languages are beautiful, but there's just a stumbling block, and that's colonial mentality, lack of education, and no value for own history, culture, and identity, basically Tagalog and Filipino is either evolving disgustingly or on its way to extinction.
im half filipino yet my mother didnt speak tagalog to me growing up! i want to connect with my relatives here in the states and in the philippines more as it feels awkward to sit in silence at get togethers since i do not know the language, and it makes me feel kinda bad ::( i will try my best! hoping to visit the philippines again after many years once it is safe enough with this pandemic and all
My mom is spanish and Filipina when i was younger she would get mad at me and talk shit in Spanish and Filipino at the same time like come on woman
You can easily learn Tagalog or bisaya if you are native Spanish speakers because we have many Spanish words here too.
I can't help but to laugh
Not really. Spanish loan words sure does help but it's not as easy as you think.

"Its not can you do English?" but it can be but its actually "Are you good at English?" Marunong means Good or Better like in "Marunong ka mag english"
Heres some tips!
You can use english in filipino sentences and most filipinos will understand here is an example: "Hello po"
You can actually use po even tho your not talking to a elderly but when your talking to an elderly you must say po.
We have the iconic english alphabet so no need to worry about characters
To learn filipino easier watch and write the filipino word and put the english word next to it
Never in my life have I used "ikinagagalak" to greet someone. haha. this is way too formal. lol.
Most Filipinos speak english and filipino/tagalog interchangeably.
It's more natural to say "Kamusta. Ako si Erica. It's nice to meet you."
Haha.
makes sense all the filipinos i know mix english
Our language is evolving that's why
