    I think it's only fair for them to live their lifestyle and express who they are. Just because they chose to forego the 21st century life doesn't mean they're myopic or oblivious as to the negative aspects of the era they're into, nor are they willing to give up on things that are essential these days like the Internet and modern utilities.
    The criticism thrown against Sarah and Gabe is way too savage and vitriolic if you ask me; it all goes to show how insensitive some have become these days.

    Always loved these bikes ! So interesting listening to you both. The Victorian Era is a passion of mine for some 30 years now. We purchased our late Victorian home last summer and I am working to take it back to its original state as much as I can a little at a time. I am striving to have that, stepped back in time feel. Complete with calendar from the year the home was built. I think what you both are doing is just great!

      Well it's seen in other Videos of them (they are very short) that he pushes the Bike to get it going and while it is going he steps on a little "step" and sits on top of it.
      It looks so easy when he does it. I imagine if I do that I would need a new set of Bones probably lol

    I could live in Victorian times. Just give me a studio, a buttload of quality paints and wood panels, canvases and good brushes, and I won't be bored and I could make a living. I would miss internet and fancy tech, but after a few years, I would adjust.

    Penny-Farthing vs modern bike, who goes faster?

    • @MrEmiosk
      @MrEmiosk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Modern holland styled bike? Equal but the penny is more comfortable and less strenuous to ride, it is what I have experienced. I do about 9-10 miles cruising (this includes two serious 5%inclines) in about 40-45minutes, just so you get what I consider normal speed.

    Well, corsets ARE negative for your health even if you don’t drop dead :)

    • @chio5709
      @chio5709 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mind to elaborate?

    • @MrEmiosk
      @MrEmiosk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chio5709 wearing one is like wearing shoes with ankle support. You weaken the muscles that handles the everyday balance and movement resulting in that you easily can injure yourself if you do not exercise without them. Wearing a corset too tight, especially if you are growing, can distort muscle and spine and rib placement. Again like another shoe to feet analogy, the foot can become quite squished looking and... well, broken if the shoe is not fitted to the foots size, look into the ideal ancient chinease womens foot size and be horrified at how the foot becomes.
      It is of course extremes and usually not the norm. It is when corsets are used to "enhance" the body to fit a certain slim hourglass figure that it becomes a real hazard.

    my only issue if you would call it that is that, to live that life and live it authentically, you do NOT need to wear a corset. you have your own God-given body shape for a reason, and they WERE an absurdity forced on women back in the day. i don't know why the couple is hung up on her wearing a corset. i mean, is there something he can wear to uncomfortably squeeze his %$&#@ all day?

      Corsets actually were excellent supports for back and spine.

    • @John081590
      @John081590 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      People nowadays get those impressions from an extreme form of corsetry called tight lacing, which is actually looked upon in ridicule even on those days. Otherwise, women just wore corsets moderately tightened to give the proper support.
