- Neighbors living in the Crowne Hill community were disturbed to find a hidden camera in the front yard of one of their homes last week, an issue they believe is part of a much bigger scheme. Joy Benedict reports.
Looks more like they're recording the schedules of the people that live in the area. See when residents leave their homes, so they can break in to their houses.
Exactly, my thoughts
Nice homes but do you think the hope diamond is in one? No all that trouble for some TV's and stereos?
Most likely.
Maybe they're surveiling the homes for burglary?
This!
@@tomtu550 yes!
duh these fools are clueless
Most likely as these devices are disposable so they don't care either way. It's the best way to see who lives there and their schedule.
Definitely using this to get a schedule of people leaving homes. Most likely a robbery crew trying a new twist to the observe and rob game.
They should have left it but obstructed the view just to see if someone were to go back fix it.
They use a mask to deploy the camera.
It's a live feed camera, so they will know immediately if someone found it as it's transmitting in real time.
Good idea!
I’m sick of sharing this world with scammers
They used this for casing homes to see when people leave and come home.
How isn't that consider trespassing and invasion of privacy?
They should have waited for the suspect to return for the camera.
well they could have just left it the guy said it was transmitting the video so technically there was no need to return
@TNT_FPV the battery don't last forever.
The police can instantly figure it out by the transmission... they could do that crap back in the 60s....it takes like 2 seconds
This the second story in one month of hidden cameras being placed in peoples yard. SMH
It was chino hills first now temecula
It seems much more likely that it’s high tech casing for burglary. Check your property and your ring cameras, especially if there are active burglary crews around.
The crime should be a big Federal and Homeland security issue with lenighty fines a lengthy jail time!!!
This is the second instance of this in like 2 weeks
Didn’t anyone with their home security cameras get the license plate of the vehicles used by these creeps? They need to be exposed and have 24/7 surveillance on them.
Any fingerprinting done of the devices??
Bug it back
Why don't they leave the camera and watch who comes back when you obstruct the view with a trashcan or a car in the way and wait for them to return to fix or move it follow street cameras follow these people they came from somewhere
Armed neighborhood patrols. Show of force
its burglary crews, they use this as a way to see when you leave and come home so they can rob houses. its common these days.
Is it a trend? I just heard another one hidden as a rock
Just place a tracking device on it and wait….
Filming in public is 100% legal. Theft of property is not. Admittedly this was on his property which is a bit weird. The trick is when you see a camera don't go grab it, feed it incorrect information.
People should start installing ring cameras to catch anybody doing weird things in their neighborhood, this is the best way to catch someone. These thugs were probably planning to do home invasion robberies in this community so they wanted to see what time they leave to work, how many people living in their home, etc
I AGREE !!! STAY ALERT !!!‼️
We're on camera everywhere we go
This is the second video of hidden cameras in neighborhoods like this. The first was put there by someone on a kids scooter.
her delivery is overly dramatic
We got High tech criminals before GTA 6
I wouldn’t be surprised if GTA 6 has a mission where you have to strategically place cameras inside yards before dogs can chase after you.
Is this a second hidden camera? I seen a report a few days ago about the same type of thing
Get back to us when there is an answer
Free camera!

Come on police... This is happening all over the world. You know exactly what this is, lol. Either they're playing dumb on purpose or they actually are dumb. Was the scooter not a dead giveaway?
This is a "porch-pirate". They often use scooters and bikes because they're quiet and can be taken right up to the porch, never leaving the thieves' possession. Park a van around the corner, so plates aren't seen by doorbell cameras, and use a scooter to go door to door because it's faster than on foot, and these guys cover huge ranges, 40-50 miles a day. They're not specifically looking at that house, they're watching the street for delivery vans. Then they know when to go down each street. "When" they strike is important, for a porch pirate, it's all about the "When". Too early and they get nothing, too late and all the good stuff is gone. They need real-time recon.
They used to just follow the vans, but now many of the vans in problem areas actually have rear cameras that can spot when there's a vehicle following for a long time. They're not ubiquitous yet by any means, but they are becoming annoyingly common for thieves, lol. Those follower cameras have led to quite a few arrests and convictions in the last couple of years.
Also a couple years ago, you knew for example that UPS would show up to a given neighborhood at 9AM, FedEx at 2PM, Amazon at 8PM, etc, with predictable routes and schedules. That made it easy for Porch Pirates, so most companies opted for some randomization in their routes in non-commercial, problem areas.
Thieves responded by ordering small $1 items to random addresses in a targeted neighborhood so they'd get tracking details and they'd be notified when it and presumably everything else in the area arrived. So services stopped real-time tracking for small ticket items. You can still track your new TV, but a 6-pack for hair ties just gets there when it gets there, lol.
So next the thieves opted to use public (usually DOT) traffic cam feeds. This was useful, as a still image can be AI-processed every few seconds to detect specific vehicles and send an SMS alert, so the thief is cruising the neighborhood and gets an alert for the big brown van on Maple Ave in real time, and that whole setup to monitor an entire city costs under $500 using the public cameras. Municipalities responded in a variety of ways, usually with a delay and some sort of time-out on the public camera feeds, forcing you to log in to see them, or enter a captcha every 15-30 minutes. That's still easily worked around, but requires a slightly more tech-savvy thief.
So then thieves place their own cameras in targeted areas so they retain control of the feed. It costs a little more, but they break even in a day or so, the cost of doing "business". And the cameras and battery packs are cheap (under $15 on Temu and Wish), the only real expense is the wireless communications, usually these are planted outside houses with unprotected wifi. Then wireless communication is just a $5 wifi addon to the camera. All-in $25-$50 per camera with a little DIY assembly, and ~$500 on the back-end for the computer the cameras transmit to, which detects vehicles and relays messages to the people on the ground. Sometimes they will use cellular connections tied to prepaid accounts (paid in cash) as well. It's still much cheaper and more efficient than using a human "spotter".
This is not new. This is not a mystery. This is not obscure information known only to insiders, lol. The police know exactly what this is, so why don't the home owners? It seems like something you could tell them to both put their minds at ease and help them to take necessary precautions. This is just someone trying to steel your delivered socks, USB charging cables and whatever other crap you order online, and they are still easily thwarted if you pay attention. And now you know where they're operating. You DO NOT put this on the news, just set a bait package and wait down the street and arrest him. It's easy. All this report and the police's silence to the homeowner did was tip your hand to the bad guys. Report on it AFTER the arrest, not before, lol.
Thank you! Why are we so dim witted now?
Gotta be careful of dog-walkers, too. Especially during the spring and summer. They walk around with their dogs, pretending to bend down and pick up poop with their poop-bags, when really they are planting cameras along the outskirts of your yard next to trees and bushes. Just gotta be careful. If you see someone taking a long time picking up poop near your yard, better walk out there and check on them.
There checking when home owners are gone for a home invasion
Do a neighborhood watch.
Lame. How about dont vote Democrat.
Interesting? What type work dose the father do?
Get the placed camera and put a tracker in it.
YOU ALL SHOULD GET A LICENSE TO CARRY!! THESE GANGS WANT TO ROB WEALTHY HOME OWNERS
Track down who did it.
Trespassing in the case where they put it in there yard.
Gota watch each other's back ..and confront these people and let them know their also being watched
Here we go again..
These cameras are used for casing houses
Check cameras on the side streets or entrance to the subdivision , someone must have them on other cameras
I’m sure someone with a computer science degree can figure it out
Somebody's watching me
how many cars have airtags on them also, it all boils down to beneficiaries. who benefits from your death? spouse, family, club, employer?
This is the second one found . It’s a new thing , casing homes to rob .
Evil stuff happening..
get info and identify people no matter how "little" the charge
shady stuff, not blatantly illegal, erodes our sense of SECURITY. That may pale against ending world hunger, but my GOSH! Who can live like that?
I’m with everyone else; it’s most likely burglary crews or people looking to steal packages. Probably even squatters. I seriously doubt these are potential kidnappers.
So weird
Could it be police or government surveillance?
If police are going to surveil you, you won’t know it. It is not done this way. These are criminals. Now I know why families in Ukraine and Russia as well as some other countries, especially in South America have 6’ high solid walls around their homes with solid gates. Some even have stone walls with broken glass embedded in concrete on top to deter climbing over. Do we really want to live this way? The GQP has destroyed the public education system and civility in all branches of government. Apathy is the tool of fascism and anarchy is the political tool of fools. Respect, Co-operation, civility, consideration, are the cornerstones of Democracy. Let’s insist on returning to Democracy in November. Band to together and vote the criminals out of government at EVERY level by doing your OWN RESEARCH. Just because someone labels himself a patriot doesn’t mean he is one. Be especially careful to look into judges because we are paying them to be impartial and to apply the law with honesty and wisdom.
Gotta put up fences
Most fences in the front yard can only be so high, we have a picket fence around our front yard and a tall fence around our backyard..
There’s nothing that can be done about it
Perhaps community stalking....until lately i would not have believed it
They are casing these houses!
online shopping packages might get exploited🛍
Legally little can be done 🙃
😂 she says the name of the community 😂😂
I thought this was the Chino Hills case! Surely they are connected.
Another one?!
Now criminals is getting hightech wow theres another 1 found in other place.
Another cámera another community this is not the only camera. Take care of your kids and your family. That’s scary
wtf
Yeah kidnapping is my best guess too.
A Police State?
So, they watched them mow the lawn? Some kinks I just don't understand....
First chino now temecula
INTERNATIONAL GANGS ARE RESPONSIBLE
2nd video I've seen this week
Maybe rope program tactics
Damn another news story about these hidden cameras in neighborhoods tf
home invasion or robbery for sure someone they know possibly
Nope , it’s a new thing , just getting caught onto , it is a casing job , either like they said for kidnapping or burglary.
Probably the HOA...
Lol
Covid masks this late lol
Oh they are so trying to rob you
HOA
What about the cameras in the phones that spy on you😊😊
Who cares?
It’s just our FBI, making sure we are following the laws.
Invasion of privacy? Trespassing? Intentions to commit a crime? Really?Californacation
"covid masks" 🙄
“ they have a target I believe it’s children “ 😂 it’s probably his camera
The most likely possibility, that even the majority of people in the comments have suggested, is that the camera would be used to case houses for burglary. That seems most plausible. But this guy decided to push the idea it's somehow for kidnapping. That is really strange. He seems very fixated on kids. 🤔
Is there a crime here, if so what is the crime? If nobody is doing anything wrong why is the paranoia so strong? If you're doing something wrong now might be a good time to stop doing it
CHINA ⛩️🇨🇳 🫢🤣!
There no action that can be taken Supreme court found you have the right to record in public.
The should have moved it and put it somewhere like in front of the police department
Probably to rob someones house really yo see when the homeowners leave and to track there day to day doings
I course don’t give his name 0:40 !!!nobody wanted to get in trouble!!!!but why I wonder !!!!🔴🫢🤫 0:40
HOA
