The fact that Netflix has released this teaser is encouraging. Means we may see S2 drop early 2025. Which I'm eager to see. S1 is/was fantastic; such a faithful adaptation. Which is why I'm so eager for S2. Book 2 of Sandman is even better than book 1 and I'm hoping the adaptation will be equally as good!
🎶Oh mister Sandman give me a dream make it the greatest thing I’ve ever seen, please don’t get cancelled, Netflix don’t fuck this up, oh please please please mister Sandman give me a dream🎶
Thrilled to see Constantine back - wishing they could tie in DBD since they cancelled it, but I suspect the overlap of scripts and filming didn’t match up. We’d need a S3 to see that, and yes, I do believe the allegations are likely to cancel it first.
First off, I've loved The Sandman for decades now, have cycled through the entire comic series (and a number of the off-shoots) multiple times, and I absolutely LOVE what they're doing with the show thus far. Second, I appreciate your content and videos regarding the show, and the genuine yet tempered enthusiasm you bring to the content without the painfully obvious, often embarrassing self-conscious effort that so many TH-cam presenters put forth toward coming off as a performer or a source of entertainment themselves. My third point has to do with the current controversy surrounding Neil Gaiman, and this business of postponing or shutting down productions. I obviously don't know anything about the man or his true character beyond the work he's created and the countless hours I've spent listening to him during public readings, talks and interviews. Nor do I know anything whatsoever of his accusers or their characters or experiences. Such allegations of course need to be addressed with the utmost care, sensitivity and pursuit of truth, of justice. If he is guilty, there absolutely must be accountability. And if, at the other extreme, these accusations are not truthful (I myself have been the victim of appalling, deceitful and repulsive false accusations, so I'm painfully aware of the existence and potential unjust harm of such), the offending parties must likewise be compelled to do what they can toward compensating for the unwarranted damage they have already begun to inflict upon not only Neil himself, but the countless others who are being adversely affected by these response to these allegations. For it is not only Neil who is being prematurely punished before being PROVEN guilty, but ALL of those involved in the various projects which bear his name at present - from the studios and the producers to the actors to the many, many hard working hands employed in bringing this sort of art to life. I believe this sort of knee-jerk reaction to such matters is, at best, a misguided and inappropriate (potentially premature) response born of genuine moral outrage (but, again, before the truth of wrongdoing has even been fully tried or proven). At worst, it's nothing more than a public performance for the sake of optics, of appearances - pride and ego and moral superiority disguised as virtue. Either way, it's affecting the lives and livelihoods of a hell of a lot of innocent bystanders in the process. Neil has, of his own volition, offered to step away from at least one production (Good Omens) and would likely follow suit with the others as well. If his guilt is sufficiently proven, and if the court wishes to punish the crime and compensate the victims, his PERSONAL profits from these multiple productions could be awarded to those who have suffered. But why punish EVERYONE involved in these productions by shutting them down entirely, putting so many out of work? What real purpose is this serving? Sorry. Rant over. I just don’t get it.
@Polymorphia1965 agree with you. Completely. I'm remembering how quickly Disney fired Johnny Depp. And he was totally innocent! He is still trying to rebuild his career. If Gaiman
Court of public opinion isn’t legal. He’s already admitted to sexual acts but claims it was consented to. I believe women. Multiple women do not make these claims for funsies or just because it’s some big conspiracy by a group of women to take down a famous man. His work is full of rape and many people close to Neil have spoken out about his behavior towards younger women. His abandonment of his family and ignoring covid during the pandemic also doesn’t paint him favorably. Good writers can absolutely do terrible things.
I hope they don't cancel before the story ends because I've really been looking forward to Delirium. I think Audrey Plaza or Margot Robie would be perfect, but I just hope they cast someone who can convincingly pull off her "delirium".
"In May 2024, it was announced that Adrian Lester, Esmé Creed-Miles, and Barry Sloane will respectively play the roles of Destiny, Delirium, and Destruction in the show's second season." According to Wikipedia.
Can't believe the person who wrote the Coraline book allegedly did such things. SMH. But they should not cancel the show just because of his scandal . Just don't let him be a part of the show in any way and keep going.
He already offered to leave the whole production of Good Omens 3 if that means they can continue working. Maybe he'll do the same for Sandman. It would be the only right thing to do since there are so many more people than only him that are involved in these projects who would suffer the consequences of his personal wrongdoings.
Sandman is such a big deal to me since I’ve read the books I really hope they don’t cancel it because of the stuff with Neil, guilty or not it dosent have to end because of him
I was so excited to see that brief glimpse of Shivering Jemmy, because there's a scene with her that's gonna blow people's minds! I also hope that this season includes Breschau of Livonia and his spine chilling speech.
I want to thank your commenters for mentioning Dead Boy Detectives. I had no idea this series existed, and I've spent the last week enjoying it immensely. Too bad it's not going to go forward. :(
i'm only familiar with the stories from the audiobook series, so most of season 2 will be all new for me - i was very excited for season 1, but it was just ok or pretty good - but calliope was damn great
I didn't know about the Netflix trailer and really appreciate your review. I'm a huge fan of this series, created 35+ years ago, but read the trades in 2012 only. I understand you having to say not wanting to give behind the scenes spoilers, but it's still funny hearing since source material is readily available to all fans, new and old. I'm looking forward to S2 after watching repeatedly episodes I liked from S1. 2025 seems like a "Dream"
Thank you for watching! Haha yeah I only say that because some fans don't/wont read the source material at all and will just stick to watching the live action netflix series unfold. So, with how accurate the show is I didn't want to give away those bigger plot points e.g. Lucifer and Dream in Hell, etc. :)
All the markers are there to tell us they are following the graphics storyline (squeeee) 🙂 My only regret is that they will not be able to follow the 'Lucifer' spin-off graphics (which isn't just a spin-off but continues several of the plot threads from Sandman and is intertwined with Sandman).
Nope - that's gone for good I believe. Especially when you consider what I said at the end of the video e.g. Good Omens being suspended etc, and possibly the future of The Sandman. I can't imagine they'd go back on their cancellation of Dead Boy Detectives.
My feeling is the DBDs won't even get cameos during Season of Mists, despite debuting there in the comics. That issue, with art by Matt Wagner, always felt quite standalone, and Morpheus isn't in it. (Although Death is)
I'm curious about why they changed Death's appearance from how she's portrayed in the source material. It's not in any way a deal breaker for me, as the actress is great, but it's inconsistent with the source. I've been a fan of those comics (sand man and death the high cost of living)
For that Batman Spin-off potential, A Harvey Dent/Two-Face Legal Drama 🎭 But with a Twist being Harvey Dent is Haunted by his Demonic Side 👹 Where he sees it through his Delusional States (Or Nightmares), And commits Criminal Violences without Harvey Dent fully Aware of what’s Going On, Then Becomes the True Villain Two-Face in the Batman Movies 🎥 🦇
I loved the first season, but about puked on the all the woke ideology in the mid to late episodes. I can’t imagine true fans of the comic books liked that. I hope this season goes lighter on that and sticks to the excellent story and characters.
Hopefully it’s a successful season and that’s enough to tip any scale from the fallout from Gaiman’s current cancellation. Really don’t care what he might have got up to in his personal life and hopefully it blows over. Just want a good Sandman adaptation so fingers crossed the puritan non-fans don’t have their way.
Plenty of long time fans are really disappointed that a beloved author and man who openly supported MeToo and supporting victims of sexual violence when it turns out he was a sex pest going back decades targeting younger alt/goth women.
It was kinda woke, in terms of some casting choices, but thankfully it didn't really hurt the story. Cringey woke is bad, and the Vortex almost gave me that vibe but it was contained. Didn't care too much about Joanna Constantine. I loved the Lucifer cast, Desire just fits, and I didn't mind Death being black. The Endless are kind of concept beings.
The Sandman is the most unique show I've ever seen.

I hope to see Delirum. I love her so.

Its going to be very good. The brother Destruction has probably been captured the same as Dream was.
I’m not a fan of Desire’s new look, it’s giving Dr Fankenfurter. Desire’s look in Season one was beyond sexy!
