I am so hyped to see Matsumoto get some love, some of his works have been adapted into amazing anime like ping pong or tekkonkinkreet but people outside the u.s don't know his manga that well, takemitsuzamurai is my favorite till now, you don't really see anything else like it.
Matsumoto is a genius to me. Tekkonkinkreet is my fave. Definitely some Schiele in his figure work. So emotional and raw while being so thoughtfully layed out and unique. CKayfabe is the best!
Love Matsumoto's works. Sunny being my favorite. An artist he mentioned as an influence was Miguelanxo Prado, one of the artists you reviewed in your Sandman Endless Dreams video.
So much in here that reminds me of Eduardo Risso - the way faces look at odd angles, the use of a selective clear dead that somehow describes a confident 3d form, but for contrast lighting. Gorgeous. Thanks for introducing me to this artist.
His series Tokyo These Days will be available very soon in english. Really can't wait! His figures can be very abstract and exaggerated, but then you notice so much life and humanity in the gestures and facial expressions. Truly magical.
After years away from reading comics, you guys have helped me reconnect and find some gems for my son and me. Never read manga until seeing your recommendations. Would love to see you guys review Peter Milligan's Enigma Jiro Taniguchi's Summit of the Gods. Summit was turned into a good anime, which is on netflix
Love your guys content Long time subscriber ! I wanted to bring up an Australian artist that made an impression on me Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse by Ben Templesmith it would be amazing to see it in your channel. ✌️
5:45 is a still from the 1958 polish film Ashes and Diamonds. Some great cinematography there
YES I've been waiting for this one! Matsumoto is so uniquely talented, and it's really exciting seeing his fan base grow more and more in the west.

Would love a video review of 'Blankets' and / or a shoot interview with Craig Thompson asking him stuff about it!
