@GasolineDoll Thank you! To get it to curl like that you pinch the foam with your fingers as you curl it.Pinch and curl. Pinching it softens the foam so it is not as brittle. Once Curled it stays. Good luck and thanks for watching!
@stephiestella Hey np, The foam is DOW Blue Protection Board. They sell it at Lowes. Home Depot has similar stuff but theirs is pink Go the the section that has giant sheets of foam insulation. There usually have sheets that are 3/4" thick or 1" thick. Those sheets are like 4' x 8' easy to spot. This stuff here comes in a bundle folded up in an accordion style. It should be next to the bigger ones. It comes in a bundle that is 2'x4' and is folded up and is maybe 30 sheets or so. Hope this helps
OMG THE JACKAL IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!! You have helped my mother and I more than you will ever know!! We were going to do this for our haunted forest so I reaaaaally thank you!! Oh and a fantastic job!!
Don't know if you're still answering any questions on this, but I created this costume as well I used EVA crafting foam from Hobby Lobby and Googley Eyes which was perfect. I have 1 question how did you get the cage to stay straight or level on the head throughout the night? Any help would be great. Thank you, Kc
@HarliQuinnProduction The back story to the Jackal is pretty extensive and interesting but to sum it up quick he was bound in his straightjacket and the metal cage was put on his head to keep him from chewing through the jacket. There was a fire at the asylum he was at and the fire heated up the metal to the point where he could break the front off before he was burned alive.
@jbrussell8 not sure actual time. It room me 4 days working on it after work and painting. What took the longest was cutting out the parts and all 72 of the small rivets then forming them. Other than that it goes together fairly decent. I built it while watching tv so it could have went faster. To keep on I have it strapped to my Straight Jacket with straps. It does not turn with my head. Holler if you have any more questions!
@longlegs9195 Hey thanks for the nice comment. I'm really not sure about selling them. It is so easy to make though. The foam is very easy to work with and forgiving. It just takes some patience to cut out a lot of the same part. But once everything is cut out it goes together very fast. If you need more detailed info let me know I can help you out.
Hi thanks for watching. Glad you liked thew cage. I would make one but due to work I have no time at all to do so. You should give it a shot it is fairly easy. Just takes a few hours or so. If you have any questions feel free to holler.
Hi! Thanks for the tutorial. I made a mistake, I purchased foam board from Hobby Lobby, the one with the foam inside with paper on the outside and realized this isn't right. I was soooo happy to find the link for the CORRECT foam board. Looking forward to creating the cage :) I bought a culinary chef jacket from the thrift store, un-hemmed it, placed it in tea (after bringing tea bags to a boil) washed it several times for the worn and shredded look, rubbed coffee grounds throughout and used canvas belts with the double buckles for the straight jacket.Show more Show less
@IrishZombie77 well it is foam so you have to be careful. It can give and flex a little so not to bad. No major bending though. I think it would work out fine and should hold up. I use this stuff for many different things I make. So far no issues with anything breaking. Good luck and ty for the kind words!
@EmmaWoodall85 hey thanks for the great comment! Glad to help. If you have any questions feel free to message me. I'm going to be the same thing.this year. Check out my channel for other costumes.
@jbrussell8 Hey thanks! This is my costume this year. Just got done making the straight jacket for it yesterday. I need to work on attaching the cage to the jacket. Few adjustments and should be all set. Thanks for watching!
You did an incredible job... I wish I had seen this before I started mine for a recreation I'm doing for my effects class. I'm making mine out of aluminum. For reference, though, how did you get the foam to curve at the front?
it comes in a bundle for around $30 something bucks or so. If you could find single sheets maybe try that. I know Hobby Lobby sells single sheets but has a paper backing on it. That would work also and wouldn't have to buy the entire bundle. Only thing is it would be extremely smooth and would not look as worn. May have trouble bending or curling the parts on front. The thickness is 1/4''. Thanks for watching! If you have any more questions just holler. I answer everyone
@noodlemonkey6 They very easy to make. Just takes a little bit of time and patience. Mainly due to cutting out many of the same part. The construction goes together in few minutes. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck!
this particular one was made from things that was easy to buy. The blue foam you see in the video you can purchase at Lowe's. Home Depot seems the same foam but theirs is pink. It's a 1/4' thickness foam. Holler if you have more questions. I answer all of my viewers.
Ryaisha Jelks I would love to but I don't have much time anymore due to work. But I have a friend that may be able to help you out. We worked an few movies together and he is an amazing artist. He does great work. Check out his work. m.facebook.com/doomsdayfxstudios?refsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdoomsdayfxstudios
Eva Schofield oh wow I didn't know that. Dollar Tree Foam board would work also. It's a $1 a sheet with paper backing. The paper peaks right off. I used this the other day for another project.
@blazergamer99 haha not to old. The last one came out in 2001. It was okay movie, I just like the fact it gave me an excuse to make something else lol. I will be posting a video on my Pyramid Head sword next. Just need to edit it, Thanks for watching!
@CRiMSON83MiA Hey thanks for the comment! I have the rest complete. I made the jacket then just aded makeup and a wig. About it. Will post pictures or video here soon. This is my costume this year and so far really enjoying it.
....i love you! you just made my life 10 times easier. i have a question though, since ill be in a crowded place will the cage stand a bump or two? ive never used foam board before so im not sure how sturdy it is.
@KYnemesis Very cool! I would like to make a metal one also. It would last forever so that would be very nice. I bet it was a bit heavy to wear around after a while...lol
