So if i cut the led light and place it maybe 3 feet away does it still work? Or would you need another cable to the other peice?

If you cut it and end up with 2 pieces, you have to make sure the cable isn't too long for the power supply if you're going to use and extension to connect the two pieces. Otherwise, you need a new power supply and rgb controller to connect the new strip as it's own individual setup.

you worry for nothing then, that thing in the wood feet is a wifi controller not power supply... power supply is most likely a phone charger...
