  • In model year 1978, the 911 model range was reduced to two models. The 911 SC (Super Carrera) took the place of the 911 and Carrera models.
    As of model year 1984, the SC version was again replaced by the 911 Carrera.Surrounds/door handles
    Until model year 1978, the window surrounds and door handles of the 911 SC were chrome-plated, like those of the previous 911 models; as of model year 1979, they were anodized black - as in the Carrera models.Wheels
    The 911 SC was fitted with 15" cast aluminium wheels from ATS as standard.Exterior mirrors
    The exterior mirrors of the 911 SC were electrically adjustable and painted in the exterior color.Engines
    The 911 SC was powered by a 3.0-liter flat engine, the output of which was increased slightly over the years.- model year 1978-79 - 3.0 liters, 180 hp
    - model year 1980 - 3.0 liters, 188 hp
    - model year 1981-83 - 3.0 liters, 204 hpBody
    The 911 SC had the wider body of the 911 Carrera. Vehicles produced as of model year 1981 are recognizable from the side direction indicators behind the front wings.
    As of model year 1983, the 911 SC Cabriolet became the first fully open-top 911 with fabric hood and was available along with the Coupé version and the Targa "safety cabriolet".Headlamp rings
    The headlamp rings of the 911 SC were initially chrome-plated, as of model year 1979 they were painted in the exterior color.

    Although, I drive daily a BMW M4 with 6speed... I also own a sweet little 100% original all black 1985 3.2 coupe with factory rear tail.
    I ❤️ my 911 Carrera!

      I don't know why you would say although like it's a negative. The m4 with a manual is truly the last modern Sportscar. Great daily choice 👌

    WOW!! What a throwback hearing about the best Porsche video game! I also played « driving » almost every day and still miss it to this day… Got to find that somewhere! Thanks for the memories… and entertaining classic cars content. Cheers

    This is a really great video. It's very hard to to capture the actual experience of driving one of these via a video, but this comes as close as I've seen. The sight of just the road in your lap with just the wings visible is shown well here along with the glorius engine sounds well recorded. I can best describe the sound is great mix of induction, exhaust, and gear whine with the ever present fan spool-up thrown in. Lots of guys try to get this sound captured both inside and outside the car and they go by driving like grandpa short shifting the engine, so I'm glad you properly drive the car. Let her rip and the soundtrack ensues. A great example of epic driving enjoyment from some of the best 200 horses put to the pavement.

    They didn’t make the SC in 1989. The 911SC “Super Carrera” was manufactured from 1978 to 1983. Beginning in 1984 it was called a “Carrera”.

    Best car to ever come out of Germany? Hey, slow down Tiger, what about Hitler's Mercedes 770? 7.665 litre, straight-eight, overhead cam with aluminium pistons. Various supercharging options up to 400 bhp. Armour-plated. Four to five-ton. That was a driver's car too, anybody get in your way you drove over or through them! Joking aside, I kind of agree with you. I did some classic rallying in a 911 and just loved it. The roar of that engine bellowing through the bulkhead, the grip, the strength, it would take a four-wheel-drive to beat us. You're never alone with an air-cooled motor. I like to kid myself that my flat-twin Beemer (motorbike) is one third of the Porsche you're driving. Good film.

      @SirDrifto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If only I could test drive that Mercedes 770! 🤣 . And of course there's many amazing cars that cake out of Germany. I'm just a sucker for a classic 911.

    If it’s a 3.0 liter SC it’s not a 1989. Only made 1978-1983. 1984-1989 has to be a Carrera 3.2 liter.

    SC owner here. Yes it is a driver’s car. But it’s not perfect. It’s damn near impossible to heel-toe this car, unlike other European cars. All the pedals are misaligned with the driver’s body, offset to the right. Incredible car otherwise. Visceral, manly.

    Just prior to Joe Biden taking office, my wife and I were looking at Porsche Boxster's about a decade plus old. You could get one a decent shape with a reasonable amount of miles on it for about seven or eight grand. A couple of years later the price had gone up about 40%. It was unreal. Even my 2019 Chevy Silverado which I bought with 5,000 miles on it for 42k went all the way up to 52k 2 years after my purchase. I see now finally used cars are coming back down.
    A Porsche 911 was always my fantasy car, but if you get one too old, you are giving up some performance. If you get a newer one, you're going to break the bank or at least mine.

    • @SirDrifto
      @SirDrifto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great points! Boxters are fantastic cars. I've been told the market will soften this coming year. One can always hope! Don't give up getting a Porsche. And agreed on the newer the more performance aswell.

    Sooooo overvalued its not a funny. These were high cost maintenance cheap cars 10 yrs ago for good reasons. Like $6500. I’ll take the GTI. Got a 92 GTI 16v that I adore. Since 98! Love this. Cannot afford the 911, but if I win powerball?

    • @SirDrifto
      @SirDrifto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that definitely is a negative about this series of cars.
