One tip. Take a lighter to the tip ends of your ropes to keep them from fraying. Looks like they were fraying in the video. Your mount gave me some ideas for my squid pole. 73

Cool, I just built pretty much the exact same antenna last month, complete with the PVC pipe which also acts as a case. The vertical part is a 6m tall fishing pole which I picked up for $30. Extremely cheap and effective POTA setup!

I love using these. Saves me from getting my rope stuck in a tree. Good luck. Thanks for watching. 73s

QRL = "The frequency is in use."
QRL? = "Is the frequency in use?"
Also, if you are surrounded by hills, a vertical is the wrong way to go. Glad it worked out for ya.

The vertical worked much better than a random wire. The vertical seemed to radiate up and out of the valley. Thanks for watching . 73s

For some reason I thought that was a model rocket and you were gonna send the antenna to the sky😂

Congratulations on the activation. Looks like the SWR (on 15) was pretty low before tuning. How was it on 20 M?

It was also great on 20 and tuned on 40. Overall it really worked well. Thanks for watching. 73s

I have almost the same gear except my squid pole is too short at 7m, I attached a rope to the end of the wire so it’s a sort of inverted L. A fellow club member said the rope pulling the wire slightly to one side will prevent the pole from collapsing (I didn’t think of that).
I tuned to 180m, 20m, 10m and 6m. I couldn’t get 80m and 40m. I need to fiddle with the wire length by folding it and perhaps add a choke.
    I have ordered a 10m pole.
I like your short guy ropes.
    How many watts?
What is that ring around your pole that the guy ropes are attached to? Is it a cable tie?
How did you support the pole whilst you attached the guy ropes, I’d need a third hand, perhaps you leaned it against your shoulder whilst you attached the guy ropes? Perhaps I can practise in my back yard first.

I used a hose clamp with the rings. It is easy to set it up. Just tighten the first two ropes set it where you want it and it will stay than tighten the final rope. Practice is a good idea. My radio runs 20 watts. Thanks for watching. 73s
