Despite this it also manages to be quite accessible because enough of the humor doesn't require explanation that a new viewer can enjoy it, heck more than a few of the inside references are obscure enough that even regular H*R fans don't catch all of them.
Mr floofers was inspired by Halloween pictures of a dog dressed as homeStar runner. Strong bad responded that they should take that lampshade off Mr flupers, but at least it stops them licking where the sun don't shine and HomeStar responds "not necessarily"

In one of the high #100 range Strong Bad emails, I once realized my eyes were closed because I was trying to listen, the pace was too fast and the depth too great. I've seen this overdevelopment happen elsewhere, outside of Homestar Runner. So I do miss the stuff like Bubs saying "no no no you gotta get those rings INSIDE the bottle", or Strong Mad yelling out "THIS IS A LOTUS FLOWER! THIS IS A PRAYING MANTIS!" for his crumpled paper ball "origami", or Strong Bad and The Cheat duping Homestar into eating the pinecone (pimecone) he tried to feed them, only to walk away unharmed and none the wiser. That stuff near put me on the floor laughing, and I didn't need to think or know anything to understand it.

It's quite magical how HSR has been around for 20 years, yet remains so timeless that you could tell someone that a cartoon from today was made 7 years agro and they would believe it.
I loved all the callbacks in this one. Alao amused that it seems there are only 2 things which are more powerful than the Jibblies painting; Mr Proofer's Curse and homsar.
I was worried that they weren't going to do a Halloween cartoon this year as they kept quiet about it on their Twitter account and know that they are trying to beat the Flash clock on finishing the Stinkoman game. Also, regarding 6:08: knowing the the Brother Chap reside in Atlanta, I sort of wonder if they got the idea for this bit after visiting "The Center for Puppetry Arts" with their family (and maybe Puppet Homestar).
I can't believe The Cheat dressed up as Ponyo this year, it's like they knew I was planning on watching Ponyo in the future! Also it made me audibly squeal from sheer surprise

In a tradition befitting of Halloween, Homestar Runner rises from the dead every year.
I was worried that they weren't going to do a Halloween cartoon this year as they kept quiet about it on their Twitter account and know that they are trying to beat the Flash clock on finishing the Stinkoman game. Also, regarding 6:08: knowing the the Brother Chap reside in Atlanta, I sort of wonder if they got the idea for this bit after visiting "The Center for Puppetry Arts" with their family (and maybe Puppet Homestar).
I can't believe The Cheat dressed up as Ponyo this year, it's like they knew I was planning on watching Ponyo in the future! Also it made me audibly squeal from sheer surprise
