In Japanese folklore, tsukumogami are tools that gain souls after 100 years of use. I see no reason why the idea couldn't be applied to ghost stories. Once it has a soul, it would want to keep being useful, maybe even to have talented writers "grow" the story by adding new chapters and such. And if someone doesn't tell the story right or is interrupted, the story spirit gets angry. I can totally see this being a Mushi in the manga Mushishi, if it isn't already.
Mr. Poofers was walking through Old Man Rootbeer's farm. All of a sudden, he fell down dead tired. He was very sleepy from the long day of eating pinecones. After he woke up from his nap, Old Man Rootbeer killed him with a joke that he found very hilarious. Together, they enjoyed a nice day in the forest. Until he ate too many pine cones and choked up, thinking about how Old Man Rootbeer is so kind letting him eat all those pinecones.

I have to say, ever since H*R officially migrated to TH-cam, I've been enjoying the comments just as much as the toons themselves. Being part of the H*R fandom is like performing with a huge improv troupe that has a million inside jokes. As soon as something new is introduced, everybody jumps on board no matter how bizarre it is, and even if it isn't funny, it becomes an anti-joke which somehow makes it funny (eg Tape Leg). And this is also probably the most drama-free fandom in the history of the Internet. I don't think in 15 years I've ever seen a comment section on a H*R video, or on SB's Twitter, or on the wiki forum, where anybody was fighting or harassing anybody else, and not a lot of fandoms can say that. In short, you guys are rad. I'm all the way here for our new fluffy overlord.

You know as silly as Mr. Poofers is, the concept behind his stories is intriguing. The idea of a story that you are unable to make something bad happen to, is both creepy and genius. It brings new ideas to the concept of a "cursed story" Usually in these types of "cursed stories" the abomination (or something among those lines) targets those that dare tell its story. But hear the opposite happens. You literally can't say anything bad or can't bring harm to Mr. Poofers. That's a genius idea!!!

Vaguely reminds me of going on Team Fortress 2 in maybe 2018 or 2019, and there was a guy who literally sounded like a dead ringer for the interviewer Nardwuar. I still don't know if it was really Nardwuar or not, but he had all of the voice inflections on point. Whoever it was, was trying to be encouraging to someone on the other team who (I guess) had really bad self esteem. So he was trying to get the guy on the other team a girlfriend, IIRC.

The little touches in this are amazing. When homestar finishes the first story, TBC stuck in a light background sound effect to emphasize the silence in the room.

Ha - Lorenzo Music was Tummi Gummi, and he also did the voice of Bill Murray's character on the Ghostbusters cartoon, and Murray inadvertently got him fired from Ghostbusters, because Murray said Music made him sound too much like Garfield The Cat (also voiced by Music). Incidentally, Murray would voice Garfield The Cat later on after Music had passed away. What a tangled web we weave.

In Japanese folklore, tsukumogami are tools that gain souls after 100 years of use. I see no reason why the idea couldn't be applied to ghost stories. Once it has a soul, it would want to keep being useful, maybe even to have talented writers "grow" the story by adding new chapters and such. And if someone doesn't tell the story right or is interrupted, the story spirit gets angry. I can totally see this being a Mushi in the manga Mushishi, if it isn't already.

I have to say, ever since H*R officially migrated to TH-cam, I've been enjoying the comments just as much as the toons themselves. Being part of the H*R fandom is like performing with a huge improv troupe that has a million inside jokes. As soon as something new is introduced, everybody jumps on board no matter how bizarre it is, and even if it isn't funny, it becomes an anti-joke which somehow makes it funny (eg Tape Leg). And this is also probably the most drama-free fandom in the history of the Internet. I don't think in 15 years I've ever seen a comment section on a H*R video, or on SB's Twitter, or on the wiki forum, where anybody was fighting or harassing anybody else, and not a lot of fandoms can say that.
In short, you guys are rad. I'm all the way here for our new fluffy overlord.

Vaguely reminds me of going on Team Fortress 2 in maybe 2018 or 2019, and there was a guy who literally sounded like a dead ringer for the interviewer Nardwuar. I still don't know if it was really Nardwuar or not, but he had all of the voice inflections on point. Whoever it was, was trying to be encouraging to someone on the other team who (I guess) had really bad self esteem. So he was trying to get the guy on the other team a girlfriend, IIRC.
