The Ring is a evil, powerful object that has a will of its own. When it has sapped its wielder of his/her decency, goodness, and self-awareness, when it has served its true master, Sauran, in whatever what the current wearer/vessel can, it abandons him/her by changing size, or by luring the object of his/her death. The game was pretty fast and loose with the lore, but it was still an enjoyable game. It never claims to be canon, but Shelob appearing as a scantily clad woman was bizarre lol. I found that part to be the strangest choice.
No he doesn’t, all he knows is that it fell into a river, which is what the orc that attacked him would’ve known anyway. The currents could’ve taken the ring anywhere along its long stretch, and mordor hasn’t invented scuba diving equipment either.
Can't bring back a corpse man. Not even a minor angel like Sauron could do that. Only Eru Illuvatar possessed such knowledge of what happened to a man's soul.
He didn’t know! it fell in a river and got carried off by Gollum who could have gone literally anywhere in middle earth in the intervening centuries. Also… how much of his personality and memories do you think survived him becoming a Nazgûl? He was dead at the time he became one. Not like the other eight who were gradually corrupted.
This was a very decent none canon. Loved both games with a passion and for what they were. So hard watching Rings of Power and seeing Celebrimbor not looking like the game version 😆
After watching so many hours of Critical Role, the moment I heard Laura Bailey's voice in this I was suddenly that one meme of Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at a tv screen in recognition hahahah
See the problem I have is the reason the ring left him is he didn't use it cause he knew wasn't strong enough to control it. He was on his way to Riverdell to give the ring to elrond so it could be destroyed, that's why it left him.
Dude was a certifiable badass. It's why in the books Aragorn is proud of his ancestor not ashamed of his blood. I get why the movies boiled it down though, I'm just assuming these games bias towards the movie plotlines more than anything.
For something that is sadly non cannon I really think it could work in a way, only recently been playing Shadow of War but I love the story and the humanizing of Uruk Hai is technically not too far off the Tolkien path by itself ( and no not just because I like Ratbag and Ranger) as I believe he did say in his writings that nothing was beyond redemption but I could be wrong.
The ring was lost in the river, likely Orc patrols search for it when they fished out Isuildur’s corpse It was found by chance but Smealgol and his friend Deagol years later when they went fishing
"Isildur, i release you!" you can't release a Nazgul until the One Ring is destroyed, don't he know that? Celebrimbor has the excuse of being mad because of what he endured in life and death but the other elf has no excuse for believing that that mad plan would ever work. A Maia enslaved by a elf? lol Since when Shelob care about anything but her next meal?
“A Maia enslaves by an elf?” Part might need to be rethinked. It’s implied heavy in the books that powerful elves like Galadriel could defeat/enslave a ring less Sauron if she had the one ring. Along with Glorfindel and a few others. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I mostly agree with you.
Celembribor was from Faenors line, that was an elf that waged war against Morgoth, the master of Sauron, even if he ultimately lose, he was still very powerful.
@@matejkopa97 that still doesn't make him powerful enough to dominate a minor god. Feanor never faced Morgoth in combat and was he three time more powerful than he was, It still wouldn't have been enough.
@Dank Waifu well you unknowingly implied that because rop did not sign a contract to be a faithful adaptation, neither sow did. They both delivered utter nonesense to the tolkiens universe but had their consistency if you dont mind the tolkiens universe. Thats why some people enjoy story of rop and thats why you enjoy sow. Ok, this is shocking!!! Celebrimbor wanted to corrupt Sauron and his armies to bring Mordor back into the light. If this happened in the main timeline in LOTR, Celebrimbor would've become a far more dangerous threat which will lead to him facing against Isildur's heir, Aragorn who wields the sword of elendil.
I do love the story and feel it is very well-written (well, except for Eltariel's betrayal out of nowhere) even though it does play loose with a lot of the lore, mainly timelines, which are extremely compressed. I realised that as soon as Gollum turned up in Shadow of Mordor, since Gondor abandoned the Black Gate about 1,600 years before LOTR (if I recall correctly), long before Smeagol was even born. The fall of Minas Ithil was a thousand years before LOTR, and the Gollum we see is the post-losing this "precious". But eh, though a bit of a Tolkien purist, I actually liked his story arc and took it for what it was. Heck, I even liked Shelob as the hot, Gothic witch, since I interpreted it as her spiritual, rather than physical form. Though Tolkien created the entirety of Middle Earth, he always viewed himself as but one teller of a greater mythology and actually encouraged other interpretations. Though that version of Shelob was certainly not what he had in mind, for some reason I think he would have at least been intrigued enough to appreciate the idea and her added backstory.
While I like these games Isildur in the books would never have fallen to Sauron. In lore he takes the ring more out of pride with the intent to use it for good, and his rule while he's in Gondor is considered to be benevolent if anything. When he inherits Arnor he's come to the realization that he's unable to control the One Ring, and so he decides to make a pitstop in Rivendell to speak with Elrond with the intent to give the Ring over to the Elves. He describes using the ring as "bringing him great pain" and if anything is eager to be rid of it. When they are attacked on the road he outright refuses to use the ring even at the urging of his sons, he only relents when his last living Son begs him to use it to escape. The Ring betrays Isildur over the fact that it really CAN'T control him (at least not as well as it might otherwise) and so it leaves him. When it does right before his death Isildur finds great relief it it being gone, not sadness or some desire to get it back. He's of course killed shortly after this happens. Assuming he WAS dragged before Sauron the Dark Lord would find it impossible to control him, as his will was profound. This isn't to say he was impervious to the Ring's evil, just that he was resilient to it.
we can't know that. simlarilon doesn't go into psychology of isildur in that detail; the narrative you present is derived from unfinished tales, which were written post tolkien's death, and might be considered as canon as this game
What was talion thinking though. He didnt had the means to destroy sauron, and if sauron wins against celebrimbor, mordor definetly goes on a rampage. And if celebrimbor wins there is a chance mordor doesnt go on a rampage
Actually he has the means to stop him temporarily and that's what the endgame was about. Him slowly losing his soul, but still fighting will his dominated orcs to prevent "the winner" (whether it was sauron or celebrimbor) to go after Middle Earth. As long as the forces in Mordor were divided, they were not able to fight against Middle Earth. And as for Celebrimbor: as soon as he said that all Middle-Earth needs order, you already know he WOULD go on a rampage. Not to mention Shelob already saw that.
Celebrimbor is corrupted, he thinks like Sauron in a different direction He would see Mordor under his control with Free Will stripped and dominated by himself Once he’s done with Mordor, whose to say he wouldn’t conquer the other races too? Sauron wanted to bring world peace by dominating free will, Celebrimbor became like him and is seeking the same It’s why Talion wouldn’t go through with it, to not trade one Dark Lord for another
at this point in time sauron wasnt able to came back to middle earth it took him a long time to regain enough power so he wasnt able to turn isildur...who was dead a empty shell without soul wich was needed for turning into a nazghul
amazon butchered any chance for a real rendition anymore, these games were all we got and people complained early in the first ones release but that was long before any of this franchise reaping now it seems good compared to what we could get

This would not work in Tolkien’s mythology. Even the highest of mortal men could not bind it.
@@RockOnBrotha89 I actually referred to Sauron immobilizing Isildur and killing him.
Sauron was trying to burn Isildir to ash (as a Maiar spirit he can do that) and it was arrogance that caused him to use his ring hand.

Is it possible? Seriously asking.

Clever idea, turning Isildur into a Nazgul... except for the glaring plothole of Isildur knowing where the Ring was!
No he doesn’t, all he knows is that it fell into a river, which is what the orc that attacked him would’ve known anyway. The currents could’ve taken the ring anywhere along its long stretch, and mordor hasn’t invented scuba diving equipment either.

100 times much better than the woke of power.
I agree. It was a wonderful story, and stuck to the lore of Tolkien, yet with a very interesting twist.

I'm sure after rings of power, we will love this game because it has much more to do with Tolkien than the TV show
Who cares the game is great
While I like these games Isildur in the books would never have fallen to Sauron.
Still better than Rings of Power
Eltariel takes the ring without question. Shes no better than the kings of men who became ringnwraiths (who also took the rings without question).
