    Macro Formats:
    2:00 | Cross Hotbar Toggle
    /crosshotbardisplay
    /crosshotbar change #
    /hotbar display #
    Replace the # with the respective values in your own HUD setup and add more lines as necessary.
    2:29 | Cross Hotbar Off
    /crosshotbardisplay off
    /crosshotbar change 1
    /hotbar display # off
    You don't need to keybind this one (and you technically don't need it in the first place), rather it's just a convenient way to reset all the hotbars you're toggling so they all start at the same state when pressing the toggle. Useful for the first setup or if you ever run into an instance where the toggle macro somehow gets interrupted. Again, add more lines as necessary so it matches the prior Toggle macro.
    2:38 | Cross Hotbar Selection
    /crosshotbar change #
    Change the # to whatever cross hotbar you want to open.
    also voice reveal lol

    You actually have 256 unused slots. There is an option for allowing you to make the hotbars weapon drawn and weapon sheathed specific. So you can have a set of cross hotbars for combat and a set of cross hotbars for weapon sheathed, and technically if you make none of the cross hotbars shared then you have 256 cross hotbar sets per class/job. Technically you have 256 slots x 31 so 8,215 slots.
    Edit: I share all the sheathed so my combat classes have all my emotes on tab.
    Hot bar 10 verticle with cross hotbar both bottom right. unsheathed is utility like journal etc sheathed are emotes... slot 1 & 2 Dances , 3 & 4 gold emotes 5 & 6 blue emotes, 7 & 8 Gray emotes
    etc I only need signs and markers for when i'm running content so those are on weapon drawn cross hotbars.

      @Emarrel  ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I've tried it out this way before but I mostly didn't like the feeling of having an additional condition to open up whichever menu I actually wanted since sometimes you just wanna run around or idle with your weapon unsheathed.
      You're totally right though, but I wanted to make something that was as simple as possible to implement and utilize.

    This looks great for those who can't quite get the "clunky" method to work. It takes up a bit more screen real-estate than I would like though. Being able to adjust it easily is definitely more convenient than the method using unused jobs/classes.

    you can also set the crosshotbar to display a second crosshotbar (the "wxhb") alongside the main cross bar. Lets you display crosshotbar 1 and 2 smultaneously, giving a total of 32 hot bar slots visible at once without having to change the crosshotbar. So... more minions and mounts. The opposite is true if you're a dedicated controller user who just so happens to play via PC. I'm using my controller 99% of the time for everything, but I also took a couple of those kb/m user hotbars, made them shared, shrunk them down and stuck them in the corner and loaded them with emotes and silly crap for quick access. That way, I can target someone and just reach up and click an emote with my mouse real quick and not have to either type it or go the LOONG way of navigating to the actual emote menu. I also keybound my 6 most used jobs to 1-6 numpad with a snazzy macro and a hidden kb/m hotbar. So now, if i want to change jobs, I just reach up and hit 1: bard, 2: pally, etc. It's super nice and quick. I feel like im living the hybrid kb/m/c life, and it's awesome.

I've used the contextual hotbar setup for a long time now, and while I really love it, it IS clunky to set up on new characters, and gets a bit awkward when I don't have those classes/jobs unlocked on a character and so can't edit them. I'm using... 2 hotbars for my menu system + an additional one on the right side of the screen with commonly used emotes (which I could remove and build into my menu system if I need more hotbars some day).
    1 "hidden" for keybind for a few custom macros and actions (sprint, mount, toggle weapon, ...) as well as a macro to show/hide the menu. Then I've got 1 hotbar for the menu system. I'm copying the hotbar contends from an unused hotbar on an old 1.0 class (no crystal equipped), I've got a main menu with buttons for different job categories (tank, healer, melee dps, ranged dps, magical dps + crafting/gathering. The first slot on each one of the menus and submenus is dedicated for a cancel/back button.
    Each macro has a wait and a hide hotbar at the end, so that if I don't do anything and just leave the menu open, it will automatically close and hide itself again after about 5-10 sec or so. Selecting a job instantly hides the menu however. With plenty of 1.0 classes available for use as mules for the menu system and with plenty of space available on the main menu for more sub menus, there's plenty of room for expansion.
    The only downside with the menu system, is that I can't get it to work with the pvphotbars, it simply won't copy the pvphotbars used for the menu for some reason.
    On my "hidden" hotbar I've got my Peloton/Island/Normal Sprint macro (C), mount roulette (Alt+C), gysahl greens (Ctrl+C), a Fancy toggle weapon macro using /bstance and a few other emotes (Z), Show/Hide menu system (Alt+Z), Limit Break (Ctrl+Z), as well as a few other useful things.. I'm thinking about maybe a 2:nd menu system macro reusing the 1 hotbar I'm already using to create maybe a menu with emotes?
    Also, the "hidden" hotbar is actually not "hidden" but rather moved half off-screen with all the hidden slots off screen, leaving me half a hotbar on-screen, that I use for food & potions, so I don't need an additional hotbar for those, putting even the hidden hotbar to maximum use :)
    As for my skills, I've got 2x hotbars that are 4 wide 3 tall, one to the left and one to the right, with the compass in-between,the left one has 1-4, Alt+1-4, Ctrl+1-4. The Right one has QERF, Alt+QERF, Ctrl+QERF. That gives me 24 slots for my skills. How do I fit them into 24 slots? That's a secret :P
    And finally to make Alt & Ctrl a bit faster, I've mapped the Alt & Ctrl key modifiers to the thumb buttons on my G603 mouse.

    • @prinniapuff
      @prinniapuff ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jemm113 search for "FFXIV making adaptive hotbars with macros" and you'll get a pretty thorough tutorial. The basic gist of it is that you create macros to swap out the content of your hotbars and show/hide bars as necessary to create an interactive menu. Essentially you use hotbars you don't need (like, for example, the hotbars for Lancer when you've already unlocked Dragoon) to "store" loadouts to swap between. It's really useful if you want a clean layout but also like to have shortcuts for a lot of different things on hand.

    What do you mean collapsable hotbars chew through your hotbars? I use 2 hotbars and can fit all my jobs, mounts, minions, master and bgm volume, 7 pages of emotes, foods, configuration menus like housing, hud, macros, I even had dedicated menus to activities like treasure hunts.
    Considering I use another 4 hotbars for skills, there's a total of 4 normal hotbars that I don't even know what to do with.
    On the other hand, this is indeed easier to setup, I just love the way my menus are set too much, and have too much free space still that I don't need this.

I do not know if there is a damage meter like recount on wow but I try to maximize my uptime on targets as much as possible while following what I believe to be the correct priority's and I hope the monks stats are crit being the secondary because that is what I am always going for due to the crit = chakra thing.

    How did you use the mount a minion roulette icons as macro icons?

    • @Emarrel
      @Emarrel  ปีที่แล้ว

      /micon "Mount Roulette" general
      /micon "Minion Roulette" general
      The suffix "general" is the important part here. For any icons that aren't a regular job action you need to define what category it belongs in. For instance, you could have an icon that's a Hyper-Potion with /micon "Hyper-Potion" item, provided you actually have a Hyper-Potion in your inventory. Armoury Chest items are also fine, so you can use equipment as an icon too, like: /micon "Omnilex Ultima" item.
      Other suffixes include:
      general (for anything in the "General" section in your Actions & Traits menu)
      blueaction (for BLU abilities, ex: /micon "Eruption" blueaction)
      pvpaction (for PvP abilities, ex: /micon Blota pvpaction)
      emote (for emotes, ex: /micon "Battle Stance" emote)
      pet (pet actions, largely deprecated since it only applies for things on the pet hotbar, ex: /micon Place pet)
      companion (Chocobo actions, ex: /micon "Choco Drop" companion)
      minion (you can use any minion you own as an icon, ex: /micon "Onion Prince" minion)
      mount (you can use any mount you own as an icon, ex: /micon "Demi-Ozma" mount)
      waymark (ex: /micon "Waymark A" waymark)
      enemysign (Overhead marker icons, ex: /micon "Target to Attack 1" enemysign)
      gearset (copies the icon of the respective gearset, ex: /micon "Gearset 1" gearset)
      classjob (job icons ex: /micon SCH classjob)
      quickchat (pvp quickchat icons ex: /micon "Hello" quickchat)

    The only problem with this is that the cross-hotbar is fuck ugly.

    Me: smug that i knew about having your X-bar accessable
    Me feeling dumb: didnt realize i could use it this way
    I set it to be usable in combat for low level dungeon roulletes. :b

    Can you give us some more details on some of the emote macros? I was only able to list 1-8 but I see your hotbar has one for emotes, the checkmark, and the bulb.

    • @Emarrel
      @Emarrel  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Those are some system level macros that aren't relevant to this video. The "Battle Stance Emote" there just adjust the audio levels to what I like while raiding (to ensure comms are clear), the checkmark sorts the party list and lightbulb sorts the armoury chest.
      All the ones on the bottom right are a bunch of other quick setting macros for things like "full audio", "quiet audio" (basically just system sounds being audible), hiding and displaying other player's spell effects and other misc stuff.

    Just a quick question unrelated to the subject of the video, when you switched to fisher, the glasses on your cap are in front of your cap but everytime I switch to that headpiece glam, the glasses are in front of my eyes and I need to use /visor to put it back in front of the cap so how did you make it to always have the glasses in front of the cap when switching to that class without using a macro?

    • @Emarrel
      @Emarrel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Resave the gearset when you change the visor settings.

    • @Emarrel

      Those were just the items themselves dragged onto the hotbar. They'd just dim out without being removed entirely if I had killed off my elite marks for that week.

    Is there a way to hide the unused crossbar slots? I have the unused slots option enabled, but it only works for the regular 1-10 bars. I only want to use like one or two of the slots on the crossbar, and having all the other squares there is very distracting.
    Thanks for the video!

    • @Emarrel
      @Emarrel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, no.

    • @pinstripedbarbarian

      @@Emarrel Thanks for the response. I managed to make something work by using one of the standard hotbars (with invisible blank slots) and moving what used to be there onto the crossbar. When WXHB and XHB are separated, they're small enough to not bloat the screen realestate.
      The only downside is the regular crossbar has to be visible for shorter ones to be as well, so it's awkwardly hiding at 60% size behind my menu bar and inventory. Still, it lets me have the one or two buttons I want where I want them without losing all the other spaces, so all's good. Thanks for the video revealing this untapped source of button-age!

    I hate when I don’t have enough space on my 3 hotbars for all my skills. But I also hate the fact they remove certain skills for accessibility. Kiten, I mourn you.
