Kate Powell here -- I am amazed at how sure you are of what you are doing, and the buildup of color was instructive. I have drawn this house as an architect but never painted it -- Yours is looser and so lovely!
Watching you paint makes my soul smile!
Lydia, this is so wonderful to read. You made my day. Thank you.
Loved your video. Beautiful painting.
Thanks for the video! I'm trying to H2Ocolor old buildings where I live. This was much needed. I'm not too enamered with the music, seems to distract, but that is just me.
I hope you find some good old buildings where you live too, Jim. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely stunning painting!!! I love how the pencil lines show through the watercolours. It gives a pen and wash impression. Frank Lloyd wright was definitely ahead of his time. As an architect I have studied his work but have never been able to travel to see it in real life except the school Taliesin in Arizona.
Love your painting style! Beautiful as always. Love the way you painted the stone prow adding the patina from the copper roof. Your painting is more interesting to look at than the photo!
@Coco-ne5ix Thanks very much. I loved painting this one, despite the cool weather and not so comfortable seat on the rocks.
The title of this video is “. A seaside masterpiece in watercolor”- your painting definitely is that!
Well, as you know, I was referring to the house, but I will take the kind words. Much appreciated!
Beautiful
Beautiful! Love your style and use of color.
@mickeya9848 Thank you!
I'm fascinated by your strokes! They are so clean and deliberate and the end result is just so beautiful!
Thanks so much! I appreciate that. It was cold out there on the beach so I painted pretty quickly!
I'm fascinated by how you make things come to life with paint. My rock walls look so flat - I'm excited to try your layering technique! Beautiful scene - thanks for sharing your process!
I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
Une autre magnifique aquarelle. Merci d'avoir partager ce moment avec nous!

Suzanne, thank you so much!
Shari- I hope u know I am a huge fan..stunning work- as always..I would be in heaven if I could paint like you! thanks so much.. and I am so glad u are doing you tube demo's in real time again...they help so much with learning to paint esp in plein air...I noticed you did this on your lap..Do u prefer that to a tripod? Maybe it just depends if u have a place to sit!
HI Deborah, Thanks so much for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed this!! IN answer to your question about a tripod, I often work that way but sometimes it’s just not possible to carry one so I find ways to work on my lap. I have to admit that it was not that comfortable to sit on a rock but I managed just fine for a short time.
We were visiting Carmel a few months ago. I found a map of the “Fairy Tale a€Cottqges “ and sketched a few of them. Very adorable.. great sketch btw! Will I see you in Buenos Aires?
Thanks for watching Eileen. I will be teaching in the UK so unfortunately I can't make it to Argentina. I'm sure it will be a wonderful event.
Wonderful 😊 thank you
