  • Plato: Intro to Political Philosophy LUMS 5/9/2019
A brief lecture on the vast writing of the man who kick started a revolution in human understanding. Plato's influence has not only shaped and formed the entire cannon of the philosophical tradition but has been equally influential over religion. His theory of forms began the debate between idealism and materialism that has persisted for 2000 years. Without studying Plato, it is impossible to make sense of our collective intellectual heritage.

45:00 most of the times we do bad things despite knowing that it’s bad for us. We cheat, lie and do things to gain profit today but also simultaneously knowing that’s its gonna prove a disadvantage for us in the long run. Any explanation for that (other than we want instant profit and the future seems far away and we think we will deal with it later) and how to avoid it? 😅

theory is something not the LAW, 0!=0, nothing in this world is like anything in this world. So this man shouldn't be the PM of Pakistan.
to make him PM we must have all the persons required to exist in these three categories (BRAIN,BODY,CELL) and this person should have the majority support of CELLS, TEAM FROM BODIES AND STRATEGY OF BRAINS. Which is impossible for this person to have according to HEISENBERGS UNCERTAINITY PRINICPLE. Suppose if he has this, It means he isn't the human.
      Note:
Majority of the population lies in the CELL region so democracy is a good option.

As you said that plato said "to access the parmenidium thought realm our soul existed before we existed and it was in contact with those essential forms, and when we come to being we recall those essential forms and categorize things according to those"
If so, then are our souls also infinite?,
And in that case how can we consider that we are a part of heraclitus thought of reality?, Because I do agree that our physical being does changes it's form, but the soul still exists as it existed before and if the soul can recall those essential forms than it can also surely recall the experiences it had in this life.
Is plato referring to transition, that Socrates mentioned while he was taking poison.
