Because frankly, my doctor doesn't listen to me unless I'm practically doing an essay and presentation for her and then I'll suggest it's one of three possibilities and she'll either deny them all or pick one. Someone has to look into this and apparently that's me.

I work at a pharmacy and I was trying to think what it could be but there's SO MANY medications that all look so similar to one another, especially with how many manufacturers and generics there are. Side note, azithromycin 500mg is often prescribed for certain STIs. Normally you see it prescribed as taking 1000mg once for one dose.

Oooh could you react to some episodes of Holby City? They have some excellent ones they did regarding staff mental health and burnout. The episodes with the character Dr Jac Nalor particularly was incredible the way they showed her was very spot-on in terms of how someone can unravel if they aren't taking care of themselves or addressing issues and just going on 'work work work' mode.
SEASON 21 EPISODE 46 episode is called Sandra's Choice' gives some context and the end of S21 Ep 49 shows Jac's burnout and paranoia in the hospital getting worse. Its very well done, particularly in terms of her colleagues trying to get her to see occupational health and her ignoring them.

The way my doctor and i describe vitamin d supplementstion in the winter is that ive tested low in the past (and my insurance doesnt like to pay for it) so its worth it to take a supplement in the winter

People who don’t experience it often trivialize it via jokes, but it’s actually super disruptive and can set people on edge for upwards of 30 minutes in the worst cases, along with potentially messing with sleep schedules at a fundamental level.

Hello. Someone who struggles to swallow pills here. Can say that hand trick didn't work, and left my hypermobility syndrome in my hand screaming so THIS HURTS TO TYPE LMAO Maybe it has a placebo effect on some people? My struggle happens if I think about swallowing food/pills (even fluids) too much, so maybe it's such a distraction for some people that that's why it works?
Dear Doctor Elliot Carthy, What can I do about chronic anxiety dreams/nightmares? They are not nightmares per say in the sense that I'm scared or am really upset, but I keep having anxiety attack dreams where I'm back in school and failing, I'm naked and desperately trying to cover up and find my clothes and everything is going wrong etc. It's getting really disruptive because it'll case me to toss and turn so much in my sleep that all the sheets get completely tangled around me, I'll wake up completely drenched in sweat and my whole body will be so clenched through the night that I'm sore and exhausted when I wake up. I've wondered a few times if I've had a seizure in my sleep I'll be so sore and exhausted. It'll also make it 20x harder to wake up and I'll often oversleep. It's exhausting and really frustrating because even though I have diagnosed generalized anxiety, my life currently has very little stress or drama. I'm told the few times I'm with family and we're staying/sharing together in a hotel that I sleep talk and none of my friends or siblings can share a bed with me on trips or sleepovers because I toss and turn so much. If I manage to get myself a husband someday I'm convinced we'll need to put two king sized mattresses together so that we can have space when sleeping because there's no way he'll sleep through being steamrolled

Me? Shade? I wouldn't dare..... honestly I'm being flippant. DBT can be really helpful for lots of people. I'm more despairing at the all too common advice given out to "do some yoga" or "have a bath" for people in crisis

I'm pretty sure I have ADHD (I'm 23) but it's proving really difficult to get a diagnosis on the NHS and I don't know what to do. Do you have any advice? My GP did a quick assessment and agreed it was likely I have it so she referred me. Then I was asked to fill out the Weiss Functional Impairment Rating Scale Self-Report, which came with a guide on how to scored it. I filled it in and then checked my scores and I had some degree of impairment in 5 of the 7 areas. I sent back the paperwork and waited a couple of weeks before asking my GP receptionist about the status of my referral and she told me it had been rejected because I didn't experience any symptoms before age 13. I find this really confusing because no one had asked me anything about my childhood. if I had been asked I would have mentioned various childhood symptoms. Is this a thing you're heard of happening?
Ideally a questionnaire should also be given to a parent to try and corroborate whether issues were present from before 12 years old. That's a diagnostic criteria but most people can't remember what life was like as a kid.

"Well obviously I'm not important enough to pay attention too, I shouldn't have bothered, No one is ever going to care, I should have just stayed home, how did they get hired, that's such bullshit, I would make a better doctor then they are, I should be a psychiatrist, as if, I can't even help myself, how the fuck could I help anyone else, I'll never be good at anything, I'm fucking stupid and useless, I should kill myself, I forgot to wash the dishes, I'll wash the dishes THEN kill myself, the laundry needs cleaning too, TH-cam notification, who posted, I don't want to know, I want to know, did I eat today, what was I doing, not important any more I have to start my mindfulness meditation, there are clothes on the floor, I need to clean up first, it's dinner time, I can't eat that, I can eat that, don't ask me how it went, leave me alone, I love my family, what was the notification, I'm still hungry, the bed is made and I showered but I'm still alert, I should do something, I can't do this, nothing is good, everything is wrong, I hate myself, I should call the psychiatrist back, they were an asshole, I'm tired now, I didn't do anything after I got home... did I? ... lazy shit.

I used to be a fan of Dr. Mike. Then he was reckless with covid and downplayed an expose about racism and sexism in the medical field. So disappointing.
I also don't really care for how he's looked at autism in the past. I don't want to speak to a specific because I could be wrong but I seem to recall him being an advocate of ABA therapy and supporting autism speaks. I appreciate his knowledge as a physician and putting some good information out there but as an autistic person I really can't accept that

I've had a psychiatrist zone out on me then yawn.
I flipped out and left without saying anything, my thought process (as I remember it) was along the lines of...
"Well obviously I'm not important enough to pay attention too, I shouldn't have bothered, No one is ever going to care, I should have just stayed home, how did they get hired, that's such bullshit, I would make a better doctor then they are, I should be a psychiatrist, as if, I can't even help myself, how the fuck could I help anyone else, I'll never be good at anything, I'm fucking stupid and useless, I should kill myself, I forgot to wash the dishes, I'll wash the dishes THEN kill myself, the laundry needs cleaning too, TH-cam notification, who posted, I don't want to know, I want to know, did I eat today, what was I doing, not important any more I have to start my mindfulness meditation, there are clothes on the floor, I need to clean up first, it's dinner time, I can't eat that, I can eat that, don't ask me how it went, leave me alone, I love my family, what was the notification, I'm still hungry, the bed is made and I showered but I'm still alert, I should do something, I can't do this, nothing is good, everything is wrong, I hate myself, I should call the psychiatrist back, they were an asshole, I'm tired now, I didn't do anything after I got home... did I? ... lazy shit.

@@DoctorElliottCarthy There's Ethan's PTSD storyline which the main episodes are series 34 episode 1, 2, and 13. There's also David's bipolar storyline and Dylan's OCD storyline but I can't think which are the main episodes of those off the top of my head.
And I just got told to try DBT.... coooooooool
I was being flippant on the vid. DBT can be really helpful for lots of people so of it's been suggested, give it a shot 🙂

I used to be a fan of Dr. Mike. Then he was reckless with covid and downplayed an expose about racism and sexism in the medical field. So disappointing.
I also don't really care for how he's looked at autism in the past. I don't want to speak to a specific because I could be wrong but I seem to recall him being an advocate of ABA therapy and supporting autism speaks. I appreciate his knowledge as a physician and putting some good information out there but as an autistic person I really can't accept that
@@WatashiMachineFullCycle Totally! It's unfortunate how often medical professionals perpetuate misinformation and harmful treatments. It's totally antithetical to everything doctors are taught during their education.
He reacted pretty negatively when accused of fatphobia as well instead of researching what fatphobia is or trying to understand where the person was coming from
@@GrapheneTransistors That's exactly what I was referring to when I said he was reckless during covid. It was such a shame to see what a hypocrite he was.
@@Harrison_J_T Unfortunately, fatphobia is so common among medical professionals. There really needs to be more education around health and size and how big does not necessarily mean unhealthy.
