Max your limits on the transmitter for the sail servo and boom connection point, to try and get the boom nearer right angles to the hull when 'all out'. All in can be looser - the boom points to the corner of the transom. Create a 'slot' between the jib and main by having the jib a little looser than the main. Trim the rig by moving the mast head so that the yacht tends to point slightly into the wind direction by it self. Launch into wind like a glider, so it will tend to come back to you if it all goes wrong. Best of luck and joy in the sailing.
Thanks for the info, I took to whole family to the park with a pond. They have a rc sailing club at this park although no one was out when we were there. The thing is perfect for beginners like us,,,, my 7 year old had a lot of fun tacking into the wind. I've learned a few things. - loosening the sails as you mentioned, I had the sails taught, after I loosened them up it was a lot faster. I will loosen the sails at full down throttle. and I have my rates at 150% on up throttle, I'll adjust a few more things- this thing is a blast!! Video to come...
@Wayne Russel , what a helpful comment, thank you! Your advice is wellcome big time. I am struggling to install a sail winch on my first, diy project - a one meter. I wish I had gone for an arm servo... edit: just became the second follower of your channel, lol! One more and we are a crowd!!! :D
Since bringing in the sails makes the sailboat go faster, and letting them out makes it slower, maybe your transmitter was correct in thinking you were crazy in reversing the throttle, since 'up' is usually 'faster'. Did you decide to un-reverse it? Lol. Cool video, this has helped me in ordering off of Amazon. 👍
Sailing is challenging at times. I've only sailed a small 2 person type mono hull a few times. I was always a power boat person and still would be if I could afford it. Tried the small sail boat because it was available and was totally surprised at how enjoyable it was. You can use the model sailboat and kites for reverse psychology. Take them out and then when the wind gods shut you down, fly your planes. LOL
hey, I have a problem with my Orion 22, 2 green LEDs are flashing on the remote control and the model doesn't respond, it doesn't move, do you know what to do?
Did you change the receiver? Wondering what kind would fit to get rid of that joysway radio. I have a JumperT12 Pro with multiprotocol. Also wondering if there's a way to get battery voltage telemetry. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
@@7demo7review Yes great, thanks. Any idea which receiver would fit the boat with my Jumper radio with multiprotocol? There's not too much space. Not sure if it'll work out with telemetry and an additional sensor, though. Or which one did you use?
Hey 7demo7, thank for the video and for the "absolute beginner's" approach - very helpful. If I understood you well, you need to have your own receiver and transmitter - the kit does not include them. How hard is it to rig all those winch lines INSIDE the hull? Or do those come factory pre-installed? I dread having to tie reliable knots (and in the right tension) inside the hull... :\
Thanks for the answer. This seems attractive. Do you know how the yarn used to do the rigging is called? I am in Israel, and things are hard to get by here - perhaps due to the language barrier or lack of contact with other model boaters here. Is there a specific name or a good description? perhaps a brand name I could order via internet?

I used my own rx as my boat came without one. You would want a Taranis radio or Jumper to get telemetry info back to the radio

Could you make a tutorial on how to build it?
Sorry, no, I sold it years ago
@@7demo7review ah its ok. Thanks for responding

most everthing is pre installed,,, all the rigging is pre tied

It would have helped if you showed how you rigged the sails.
Still good model or want something else?
