- Join us for a TH-cam Live event as we tour through our new Enksail Orion 49 aluminium sailboat currently in build in the Netherlands. We will be interviewing some of the crafts-people who have been working on the interior as well as general manager Ronald van Enkhuizen.
Check out Enksail Website at enksail.gebroe...
Thanks to Ronald van Enkhuizen for permitting and hosting the tour of the Orion 49. I appreciate the craftsmanship of your vessels. 👏
The builders are quite accommodating because these videos are excellent advertisement for the company!
My wife and I are enjoying your build project. We are have a HR44 in production in Ellös and wish we could go to watch the build. Delivery May 30th, 2024 at 10:00am!!
Good workmanship at that factory.
Beautiful I can't wait until your adventures start.
I very often find that TH-cam live streams have such bad audio that I wind up leaving almost as soon as they start. I stayed to the end with this one. Good job.
I am Really impressed with the efficiency of this manufacturing setup! The Gebr. van Enkhuizen yard seems to be a very good choice. I did speak with Ronald about some small work on my 43 years old 41ft steel ketch. Small beer, but he was just patience and easy going as in your new build project.
Hi Cheryll and Paul, we came to Makkum today to pick up our sails at UK-Sails and had a look at Distant Shores 4. It would have been lovely to meet you on the occasion… maybe some other time.
Thank you for the update on out new adopted boat! She is coming along nicely.
Wow, great to see such craftsmanship! Beautiful.
Hybrid with Regen is huge. Just think when you are up north above 66 degrees in summer. 18-24 hours of sun. Solar will play a huge part. Put as much on as you can. I am so excited for you both. Cant wait till it's ready.
Thank you for keeping me in the loop, nice to see you both and wow boat on TH-cam.
Looking forward to seeing her finished 😁
This will be a fantastic vessel. Nice update!
I think so too!
oops, missed the live part. Nice weather here in New Hampshire and a busy day. Supposed to be a very hot day so now I'm inside sitting with my "early lunch/breakfast after an early morning couple of hours outside. Timing is everything. I guess I would call this "modular" construction. I don't agree with the term "moc up." This is the actual interior furniture. There is that couple in Sweden and their "hull" looks great. I continue to be actively promoting this construction method to them. This modular technique could work well for speeding up their quest to get back on the water. Whew. This is of course amazing. So happy to see you guys agian. Best wishes always! ✨🌸❤🌸✨
I wonder
How will you be addressing anti fouling & bottom paint and the aluminum hull? Ultrasound? no cuprous oxide?
Wow! She is moving along. You are going to be in the water before you know it.
Having 48V run your main items is huge. It takes less amps when using 48V so smaller wires needed. Awesome just awesome.
Great Episode thanks for sharing this with us 🌸🐬🐳
We are getting a caravan built soon and i Love the way you have done all your homework to build your wonderful yacht, we have done the same to our new caravan and modified it ,like bigger windows more solar panels and a bigger battery pack titanium batteries, but you both made us think out side of the box.thank you for that. Cheers to you both 🍹🦋🌸🍷🍷🐬🐳
Our pleasure! Good luck with your build!! Please keep us up to date 😍
I’m not a huge sail boat person motor yacht is more my style but if I was a sailor this would be my choice . I cannot wait to see her sail ❤
Great video ! What happened to your TV show ? Really miss it !
She is looking so very beautiful already! Cant wait to see the Distant Shores 4 adventures to come! How does this build compare to the southerly builds beyond the obvious differences?
Great walkthrough and tour. One critique though, the audio could be so much better. You've been doing this for a long time and choosing the right mic for interviews makes a big difference. Directional shotgun on the camera, we'd be able to hear so much more than the condenser mics.
There certainly is a lot to be excited about.😀👍⛵️
This build is epic. Perfect build. Thanks for sharing
Great boat! By the way, what is the displacement of the boat, and what is the weight of the swing part of the keel? And why your way to aluminium boat was so long?
Great show. Thank you 4 sharing 🙂
what insulation is being used for cold weather sailing?
Beautiful looking boat, amazing craftsmanship and looks like a very fast boat that you can also get into shallow waters which I really like a lot. How do you protect the back side of the woodwork from the condensation and your wood from getting rot and mold? My plan is to build a Cyber 48. The same boat that Sailing Life on Jupiter has. It would be nice to see your boat in person in a calm anchorage some day.
Love the timber work, the simplicity & beauty of those handles, cut a hole, shape, coat. With everything mass produced, off the self these days, it's becoming a lost art. Curious how the inside of the hull will be treated to avoid condensation>mould. What antifoul is being used? I can imagine your anticipation.
I loved the tour of your new build of distant shores IV. I especially love that you were staying with a monocle and not switching over to a catamaran as a lot of cruisers are. You will definitely love your new space. Thank you for sharing us. The building process and customization is pretty cool to see. What is the length of the boat?
It's in the title, Orion 49. It's 49 feet. 😉
@@nooneanybodyknows7912 ah jeez, of course it is! Sorry about that but thank you for the answer.
Will you be installing a centralized heating and cooling system for your boat?
Hi! Great video! I have a question. Will the rudders be built on aluminium as well. How it handles Orca's attacks?
Its a wonderfull boat watt you get.
Thanks very much
Interesting thru hull; the outside looks below the water line while the inside looks above. I believe it’s another advantage of aluminum
Really interesting to see that a mock-up saves them time and money in this custom build. I suspect they can reuse the mock up. It’s common Practice when setting up a new fiberglass design but for a semi-custom , clever , so much easier than workings thru the compainion way!
Will the rest of the interior get epoxy painted or just the bilge area?
Cheers Warren
I think I met you in the Swedish arpalagilo this summer. Can that really be true ? The boat looked like yours, and even the two persons onboard =)
Great tour. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it😍
How many months between order and launch?
It’s going to be beautiful. Can’t wait for the completion and sea trials. Does it look like it’s coming in at the budget? Have you guys opted for any additional modifications?
Hi, can I ask what's the special coating for the water and fuel tanks? Thanks.
Nice boat
I am impressed.
thanks for sharing
God Bless Matthias
Is there/are there/will there be: Plans for a stern thruster?
Bow thruster only but there is a third central rudder for steering under power
Nice yacht
with all that wood you don't want a fire in there.... at least the hull will survive !!
I would like you to walk with the the design of the interior on a computer You never showed us the interior plans
Swing keel!
Nice channel . But youre missing the fun by building it by ur self
We spent 3 years building our first boat from a bare hull and deck, Two-Step, a Classic 37. It was a great experience but once was enough. 😉
aluminium - al-u-min-i-um
Someone needs to teach the difference between a boat tour and a shipyard tour.
Ga eens wat doen ,al die klanten die te koop lopen met alles en nog wat.
I have a 2kw verticle wind generator on my yacht. Even at higher latitudes around d Alaska I still generate power.
Beautiful boat. Thanks for sharing.
