HOW TO CUT TRAIL // innowayfamous

I have wanted to put this one together for awhile now. I love trail cutting and honestly, the more people who love it, the better for all of us! In this video I break down the tools I use to cut, the ways I plan out my trails and then obviously some of the techniques and things I think about while cutting.

Great vid! I relate hard to the distance misjudgment part! I cut some switchbacks thinking I had put in more than enough space between pivot turns to regain composure when in reality they make me feel like I have to pivot back to back all the way up.

Awesome video🤘The first trail I built was on my own land, I spent days and days setting up the perfect lines through granite bluffs and up root steps with little kickers and berms. Turned out I built a very detailed scale model of a hard enduro trail.

Great video! I'm from northern Italy and it seems like woods and terrain here are very different from yours. There's a local old guy who's like a legendary dirt bike trail cutter and It's amazing to watch him figure stuff out! 👌

Nice video, there are not many like this that Ive seen. Its harder then most people think, especially in terrain like yours! Its quite dense. In kamloops there are areas that are dense, but many that are not, and you can freeride without much trouble. Then simply flag what you want, clean up later. Still takes many hours but whips you into shape!

great info, generally when I am making a fresh trail, I'll walk it with a hand saw or survey axe then go back with a gas-powered brush saw (looks like a weed Wacker with a saw blade) then finish it up with the chain saw. I know it seems to be redundant, but I find on every pass ill want change something or find a new feature to add. Generally ill try pass with the bike in-between tools to check what is working or what isn't. it's not easy to design new trails but very rewarding

@@JasonHamborg also good point on the time of the year some of my best trails are made in the fall when the leaves and under brush start drying. Last spring / summer is brutal

Hey there. Great video. My name is Peter. I build trail here in Grande Prairie, AB. I liked what you had to say about your process and the things to include in your planning. Ive built about 15 km of trail in the last 4 years or so. The tool that i find is kind of a game changer is the thinning saw.; the gas powered, steel bladed weed eater. We have areas here that can be extremely thick in the undergrowth dept. and these saws make trail so much easier to build. So much faster and so much less sweat. We have Devils club here too and it makes dealing with that so much nicer.
Our club is actually working on a project too that will label the trails with km markers and we will be installing some helicopter evacuation points that are centrally located for medical emergencies. Stars sites. Not sure if you guys have Stars in BC? This last summer we posted trail name signs so when we are done it will be super easy for people to figure out which way they are going and where they are.
