Very informative video, thanks. Our radiator valves look like taps and the flow and return are different on each rad. Does it matter what side I 'choose' to be the 'customer' side? Ie, can I fiddle with all the left side ones and set the right side ones? Thanks

Yes. It restricts the flow either side.
What size allan key was needed to open the valve?
It depends on the valve, you won't always use an Allen key as some valves will have a pin.
