Brianna Corral this guys clearly a fuckin idiot hahahah. A 4 year degree for what I do with 0 years of college. This guys an idiot the job is very easy
@@tommymc7535 ik this comment was like years ago but do keep in mind that this video was even more years ago and the APTA has changed a lot of school demands on these type of jobs and maybe back then you needed 4 years for a PT Aide
@@alexcolin949 No, it’s never been required to go to school for 4 years to be a damn aide lol. This guy is just being super picky about it. An aide doesn’t even need a degree.
@Madden PT It seems like you're crossing PT Aide with PT Assistant. What you're looking for is a PT Asssistant. There is no degree for Aides. Assistants go to college for 2 years for an Associate degree.
I spoke with the director of physical therapy at the hospital I work at and she told me to apply .all I needed was my BLS Certificate and high school diploma. Also to show that I am going to school for Physical Therapy. ( I am applying for transfer soon to a 4 year university) and that was it . I have an interview this Thursday so fingers crossed. Not sure what this guy is thinking
@@mexicanakinskywalker6762 unfortunately no. The director of physical therapy told me that she could have hired me but she would only have 10 hours a week to offer me . She said she that wasnt enough so she asked me if I'm willing to wait till one of the three aides quits so I can take their position and get guaranteed 30 hours . So I told her sure . And now I just have to be patient.. lol and congratulations on getting your degree soon :)
@@emc1192 oh nice! at least she liked you and told you that you have a spot there! just be patient and you will get it. So what you need a masters degree to be a physical therapy assistant now? I thought about studying physical therapy assistant degree with 41% growth, but these PT's hire physical therapy aides to save money, so is it worth it? I have a physical therapy aide certification, which I guess is worthless.
Certification is worthless. Not every degree and every certificate is worth it. It also depends what state you live in. Some states want college only student or degree for PT tech. PT Assistant needs a associates degree which is much more useful than a PT tech certificate. It may just be a associates degree for PTA but it is a tough program to get in, you need certain classes and volunteer hours before even applying. My advice as a future PT, is get a good bachelors degree that’s worth the loans, and then apply at a school that has DPT.
@@CapDrew I'm not sure what you're saying. PT Aide positions are not regulated by any states and has no educational requirements. PT Assistants are regulated by a number of states. PT Aides are subordinate to PT Assistants in a PT clinic.
Ik this is an old video but honestly I don't care about the pay. As long as I am able to help others in any way I can, be in the field, and making others smile I'll be happy!
Lol! It’s not worth it, My advice to ppl interested in pt school is to do observation hours on the side but not work full time or even part time (only if you have straight As in the classes to get in). If you got fired you’re not missing out on much.
what if someone doesnt want to go in that exact direction long term. like for me I want experience in physical therapy but my long term goal is nursing
+chantiaunique afaik you can save up and later get the classes you have taken transferred to your nursing degree. don't know why you would prefer nursing as IMO it is much more difficult specially due to the night shifts and all that, where your bosses will require you extremely long hours etc.. but i guess if thats your passion... i prefer the stable morning shifts :) As far as job experience goes, it is still within the medical field and encountering different clients with different conditions may indeed help (although not by much).. but the anatomy knowledge a PT degree has transfers really well to nursing. (anyway i don't speak for this company, I'm just some random guy)
Rodolfo Aguinaldo Jr well nursing is very diverse. You dnt necessarily have to work in the hospital. I Understand the long hour shifts. I Just enjoy knowing and learning about the body as a whole and being in a more busy setting, dealing with different problems. I love mornings also but this is my passion. Im planning to move uo as high as I could. its funny because its like the higher your title in the medical field, the less you do as a job (sometimes) lol but im almost done with my prerequisites to take nursing classes. its not easy at all. its a challenge and many people and professors have warned me. But I love it and my grades are good.
Are ptt allowed to write the date, number of reps and wt done on the patients progress charts to keep track or are they only able to doing only checks for the exercise done....
+Socrates Nietzsche It seems like PT aide is pretty much PT work without the examining the patient and handling the massive amounts of documentation. I wish PTAide paid closer to PT, then i wouldn't have to take my PT license since i really loathe paperwork. Alas, I need to pay my student loans.. I would have been quite content doing the grunt work. I just hate paper.
can I work as an aide and get some PTA "assistant" schooling at the same time. in other words I'm wanting to obtain my physical therapy assistant degree in California but some hands on work experience would be cool. as I get formal schooling
I'll be damned if I go to school for 4 years to be paid minimum wage or even close to that.
