Thanks for sharing this. The whole run through was really concise but informative. In particular the "split toning through a colour range selection" was a new and mind-blowing technique to me, really interesting!
Great processing video Luke, as always you do these so well. Over a year ago I was close to giving up trying to process in pix insight and then discovered your channel and never looked back. Great practical approach. Thanks so much.
Excellent tutorial! Lots of useful techniques and will come in very handy as I learn to process monochrome data. I especially like the color masks, brilliant! Thanks and clear skies!
Thank you for sharing the data with us, which I especially appreciate since we don't get this target down in New Zealand. Had a good time putting my own spin on it before watching how you processed it, and we came out pretty close!
Glad you enjoyed it mate!! it's really cool to hear that perspective, I'd actually not really thought about that to be honest! Thank you for joining in, it's appreciated :-) Clear skies!
Masterful tutorial! As the never ending techniques and tools evolve in Pixinsight, it’s a luxury to know that you’re going to explain the way for us to digest. Your processing skills are simply amazing and, as in all your tutorials, you take the complex and with your clear step-by-step instructions, make it look simple. I’m an avid follower of your tutorials and I must say, this one today demonstrates the best intergration of your arsenal of tools. Keep up the grueling work it takes to produce these-they are so worthwhile. One quick question, should the linear fit be done before stretching?
Ah mate as always, I'm flattered!! It's awesome to hear you enjoy my work so thoroughly Joe, thank you :-) RE: linear fit, that's indeed correct mate! before any stretching takes place :-) Clear skies!!
Do you mind if i watc this video a couple more times? I didn't quite get everything in the single viewing...You put out some tremendous information. Bravo!
Excelent video. I also cannot avoid laughing when using RC tools. They have completely changed the workflow. By the way, why don't you remove the stars before playing with colors with star xterm? Cheers
Hey mate! Haha, I'm glad it's not just me then! :-D they are so much fun to use!! Re: removing stars before playing with the colour, I 100% would usually do that 👍👍 just skipped it to save time! Cheers mate! :-D
Hi Luke. Just another question about your rig. Which flavor of filter wheel are you using in connection with the Ares-M Pro camera? Filter dimensions? Thanks.
Hi mate thanks for sharing your data. Ive had a go at it and my first time processing monochrome i have to say i am slightly considering moving towards shooting monochrome 😂. I have a Rasa 8 but mainly shoot with my Zwo 183mc pro and Idas Nbz/Astronomik L2 Uv/Ir Blocking Filter. I always watch your tutorials and i have learned a lot from you. Which size filters did you use ?
Awesome to hear you've been enjoying having a look at the data mate, that's really cool!! I use 1.25" filters on the Ares mono cam (533) - everything else I use 2" filters 👍
Maybe OSC vs OSC was the best match. I have both sensors and in Bortle 8 in Algarve Faro, I was delighted with the 533MC Pro, my 533MM Pro does not give a chance in terms of channels. Mono is Mono. It was great that PO released the Mono version of the 585 as well. Since I have the IDAS GNB filters and the DTD is on the way. I already want to go in a while to buy the 585 Uranus C Pro
Hey Rigo! :-D Congratulations on the camera, glad to hear it's safely with you! I believe you're fine to use the default gain/offset settings now mate, rather than having to pump it up to 1000 - but there's no harm either way as long as you aren't clipping data! All the best, Luke
Hey there Rigo my friend! :-D I've luckily not had issues with BXT, if there's an issue going on then I'm sure Russ will have it fixed ASAP - you can always switch back to the earlier AI version within the tool btw if it's giving you unacceptable results 👍👍 hope that helps mate!
Luke nice video, one thing that drives me nuts that you do, (please I dont mean it in a nasty way) , when you go back and forth on a window to show how the images looks before and after I guess you right click the image and then click the back and forth arrows. Why dont you just go to the upper left and use the arrows under the file and edit buttons. See it was not meant to be mean just my pet peeve .... Like watching you , keep sending the videos. BTW if you dont remember I was the one who was in England a few months ago and then got COVID,, Cheers Mate
Hey mate! :-D ah of course I remember aye! Hope everyone is all back to full health now by the way! Re: the back/forwards buttons - I'll try to remember to use 'em haha, old habits die hard though hey 😂👍👍 Clear skies mate!
Still one of the best producer of tutorials for Pixinsight. Excellent video matey. Clear skies.
Crikey Jim mate, you're too kind! :-) hope you and Joan have been keeping well mate!!

Thank you for watching mate!! - And that's great to know RE: GIMP! :-D
Hi Luke, just received the 533MM, great camera but "what is now the best GAIN and OFFSET" is it really Gain 200 and Offset 1000 ????
Hey Rigo! :-D Congratulations on the camera, glad to hear it's safely with you!
