I disagree 100% with the gradient statement. Gradient schemes do work if you have two colors that work well together ex orange and blue. Don't do black to a color gradient scheme because it dosen't work. Color to color gradients work better since they pop on the car.

The silence after revealing number 1 killed me. The only thing I like about that Byron scheme is the white hood/nose. It shows the rubber marks a lot better. But that’s it.
Honestly, almost every scheme from JTG this year should be on the top 10, they did this thing that had other companies sponsor the back-half of their cars...and it usually doesn't look good at ALL.
Thr 41 schemes have looked bad since Kurt left SHR. Amazing how much better Monster Energy schemes looked and the cool red and black Hass schemes were when he was there

The Truex scheme looked much much better in real life. It was easily identifiable, and it actually looked like a nice picnic, with the ski being gray and rainy.
I’ve been designing custom NASCAR paint schemes for my friends with their choice of number and sponsors. Someone asked for a Ben & Jerry’s paint scheme and it ended up looking an awful lot like the Reser’s scheme we got this year. I now think my designs need work after seeing that scheme in this video.
Personally I love that 18 light green scheme, feels like a “soft friendly” Kyle Busch candy ride. And I literally just picked up the 1/64 diecast of it 😂
I agree! I really like that scheme. I thought it was clean and flowed together really well. Plus the pastel blue (or green) is the brands “color.” Look at 90% of their packaging, they use that color. So naturally they are going to want to use that color. Also, I think it stands out in a sea of cars basically using all the same colors.
i honestly really liked that Kyle Busch's paint scheme. the mint bluish color contrasts well with the rest of the car and the text font looks fancy and kinda what I'd expect from a food company. i think one of the most original schemes I've seen. very well done
The 47 schemes sucked almost every week. Theyd look so much better if they didn't force another sponsor on the back. The Precept and Allmendinger Kroger schemes were million times better though

I am actually fine with the Cromax scheme, personally, the Oscar Meyer one or the Stenhouse throwback attempt should be first. I am also fine with the Columbia and the Kyle Busch schemes. The reason that I'm ok with the Byron one is because the color is unique with me and the scheme is clean, i like the geometric shapes and lines. But I loved the way you offended it, it made me laugh lol.
Totally agree! Tide ride is by far the worst. And I also like Kyle’s Ethel M’s car and really like all of the Columbia schemes! I love how they always integrate a different fish scale pattern faintly into the paint schemes.

I actually like the Byron car. The white hood and nose with black rear end pop even more with the baby food green. I think the white 24 is nice change and reminds me of the old white Budweiser 25 and shines off the green. The green could be a different shade but I overall like this car.
Numbers 9, 3, and 1 are my top least favorites out of the ones shown. 9 because the different yellow just bother me a lot, 3 because the lack of anything on the side makes it so bland, and for 1 I won’t wind it at all if they made the front white area black to mach the rest of the car and that would go good with the green, but I very much agree that the white and green don’t go together well.
This is going to be my attempt at defending William Byron’s paint scheme. 1. I’m color blind so that yellow doesn’t look that bad 2. Those lines going up the side of the car actually look cool. 3. That’s pretty much it nothing else.
I think the Pennzoil paint scheme could've been better off with Yellow as primary color, black stripes on the bottom, then put the white part on the back as well as the Menards branding+logo on the back as well. Kinda "plagiarize" the Pennzoil Zexel JGTC Skyline paint scheme, but it was a bit better off to me.
I'm biased for Black-White-Green color combos so I can't really hate #1. I WILL say that it could definitely be improved. The Axalta logo on the hood could've used an outline or some kind of black streak in order for it to stand out, and they could've gotten more creative with the color patterns and streaks on the side panels, but it's not too bad overall.. And yeah nothing could help that Cromax XP logo aside from a complete font-change. This all coming from someone who really isn't a Byron fan either. I think #3 and #2 are definitively worse, but hey, that's all opinions.
See Cutster's 41 scheme is related. The AutoDesk software is what they design to use the CNC machines. I agree could have been integrated better but definitely related.
The Tide ride was miles away the worst one. The Bryon one was bad, but you said it yourself, different colors on those strips would make that scheme good. There is no color combination that would make that Kroger/ tide work with all the empty space on it. It is terrible

I agree with alot of your choices accept the Bubba Wallace one. The point of the scheme is that the two colors represent the scales and color of the fish, similar to how cotton candy is blue and pink. The logo I mean is in black so maybe change it to white, but I still feel like it would be a but of a blur speeding around the track.
I was at Pocono where he ran that scheme and it wasn’t that bad in person. I will say the tenders before the race made it look awful. Funny enough I was also at Daytona where they had that scheme on the old Chevy body it looked way worse on that thing haha

don't flame me for this, but I'd argue byron's color of the year scheme should be number 3 on this list. I don't think the color is that bad, and it at least has some sort of pattern or design on the car unlike the tide throwback and oscar meyer car.
I actually kind of liked the color of the year. I thought it was tame and chill, and for the colors they had to work with I think they did a pretty good job. I had it as an honorable mention in my willy b paint scheme video.

In my opinion the Ricky Stenhouse Jr Kroger/Nature Valley paint scheme was the worse. The blue and white with the yellow and green made me want to vomit.
8:26 it's such a shame because the design of the scheme itself is great, in fact I prefer the stripe pattern of this scheme to Byron's primary Axalta scheme. It's just that color though man. Literally puke green. This scheme would be amazing if it used teal or turquoise instead of that green.
On the Custer Haas Tooling/AutoDesk Fusion scheme, the ironic part is that they are kinda related sponsors, with AutoDesk offering platforms to design parts that can be CNC machined on Haas equipment. But totally agree on the Byron scheme.

Damn I actually thought Byron's car was really clean. Maybe the green is worse in person but I do love the simple design. That design in red, black, and blue would be a banger too. I'm not a Kyle Busch fan either but something about that pastel green really felt like a throwback to when a majority of production cars rolled out of the factory in some sort of pastel color. I'm surprised you didn't put Truex's really really reallyyy plain matte black with teal accented car on the list. Someone wanted to give the design team a week off I guess. Great video!
I like the hot dog in a bun scheme, but I can understand why it’s in the silver medal spot. Very bland, & boring. More condiments, & maybe it would’ve worked.
Overall, reasonable list of your least favorite NASCAR Cup Series paint schemes for 2021. When I was waiting for this video to come out, the paint schemes I figured that we’re gonna be on this list are the Kroger/Tide “throwback” scheme, the Oscar Mayer Atlanta scheme, the SpeedyCash scheme, and the Pennzoil/Menards scheme. The ones I agree with you on this list are the SpeedyCash scheme, the Childress Vineyards/Food City scheme, Ethel’s Chocolates scheme, the Kroger/Tide “throwback” scheme, the Oscar Mayer Atlanta scheme, and the Cromax XP Axalta scheme. As for the others, they look ok, but can be better if they’re improved.
All they had to do on the Cromax was make the base all black and it would've been way better, at least farther up in the list if not off of it. Change the white to black. Who decided to transition to white. Ghastly. (Edit: typo)
That willy b paint job wasnt that bad there are some good qualities(and bad). The things that work for me -a new color for the 24, the diagonal lines and the logo. I dont think it was presented well tho. I think if that was the main color to the car and had black and white accents it wouldn’t have been on this list. As far as it looking the way it looks now, id say it isnt that bad I would have made the lines smaller and add more of them going all the way through the back of the car or to the hood.
Haha I wouldnt say Byron's was the worst on the list design wise but true that color was terrible. It could have been worse though if that color was used on some of those designs I think. Great video though.
I honestly do really like the Byron scheme. Electrolyte green is a cool color. I especially like how it contrasts against the black and white. I don’t have a very “in depth” explanation as to why I like it..but I just do. I can see hating the scheme though if you hate the color to begin with. I agree with you on most the other ones. As a fisherman myself, I love the Columbia paint schemes! Not a Bubba fan but I love how they incorporate different species of fish scales on each scheme!
Hot Take: I personally love the ElectroLight color, mainly cause I tend to gravitate towards bright green and yellowy-green and greeny-blues especially, i dunno something about those colors just work for me. I have no excuse, I'm just weird.

The 24 car green is fine, but the design is awful. And the 47 is terrible with the lack of door space and for them trying to pass it as a throwback

I was at Pocono where he ran that scheme and it wasn’t that bad in person. I will say the tenders before the race made it look awful. Funny enough I was also at Daytona where they had that scheme on the old Chevy body it looked way worse on that thing haha

Number 6 and 5 don't have a spot on this list lol. They i think suffer from being too artistic which may not translate great to the track, but up close I think they're beautiful.

don't flame me for this, but I'd argue byron's color of the year scheme should be number 3 on this list. I don't think the color is that bad, and it at least has some sort of pattern or design on the car unlike the tide throwback and oscar meyer car.

I actually kind of liked the color of the year. I thought it was tame and chill, and for the colors they had to work with I think they did a pretty good job. I had it as an honorable mention in my willy b paint scheme video.

Second Atlanta race
In my opinion the Ricky Stenhouse Jr Kroger/Nature Valley paint scheme was the worse. The blue and white with the yellow and green made me want to vomit.
Most of the 47 schemes were bad honestly
8:26 it's such a shame because the design of the scheme itself is great, in fact I prefer the stripe pattern of this scheme to Byron's primary Axalta scheme. It's just that color though man. Literally puke green. This scheme would be amazing if it used teal or turquoise instead of that green.
On the Custer Haas Tooling/AutoDesk Fusion scheme, the ironic part is that they are kinda related sponsors, with AutoDesk offering platforms to design parts that can be CNC machined on Haas equipment.
But totally agree on the Byron scheme.
I always look forward to this video, because know 2 of my favorite paint schemes, Blaney's Pennzoil/Menards and the 38 speedy cash is always on the list 😂
Damn I actually thought Byron's car was really clean. Maybe the green is worse in person but I do love the simple design. That design in red, black, and blue would be a banger too. I'm not a Kyle Busch fan either but something about that pastel green really felt like a throwback to when a majority of production cars rolled out of the factory in some sort of pastel color. I'm surprised you didn't put Truex's really really reallyyy plain matte black with teal accented car on the list. Someone wanted to give the design team a week off I guess. Great video!

Overall, reasonable list of your least favorite NASCAR Cup Series paint schemes for 2021. When I was waiting for this video to come out, the paint schemes I figured that we’re gonna be on this list are the Kroger/Tide “throwback” scheme, the Oscar Mayer Atlanta scheme, the SpeedyCash scheme, and the Pennzoil/Menards scheme. The ones I agree with you on this list are the SpeedyCash scheme, the Childress Vineyards/Food City scheme, Ethel’s Chocolates scheme, the Kroger/Tide “throwback” scheme, the Oscar Mayer Atlanta scheme, and the Cromax XP Axalta scheme. As for the others, they look ok, but can be better if they’re improved.
All they had to do on the Cromax was make the base all black and it would've been way better, at least farther up in the list if not off of it. Change the white to black. Who decided to transition to white. Ghastly.

That willy b paint job wasnt that bad there are some good qualities(and bad). The things that work for me -a new color for the 24, the diagonal lines and the logo. I dont think it was presented well tho. I think if that was the main color to the car and had black and white accents it wouldn’t have been on this list. As far as it looking the way it looks now, id say it isnt that bad I would have made the lines smaller and add more of them going all the way through the back of the car or to the hood.
Haha I wouldnt say Byron's was the worst on the list design wise but true that color was terrible. It could have been worse though if that color was used on some of those designs I think. Great video though.

I honestly do really like the Byron scheme.
Electrolyte green is a cool color. I especially like how it contrasts against the black and white. I don’t have a very “in depth” explanation as to why I like it..but I just do. I can see hating the scheme though if you hate the color to begin with.

Hot Take: I personally love the ElectroLight color, mainly cause I tend to gravitate towards bright green and yellowy-green and greeny-blues especially, i dunno something about those colors just work for me. I have no excuse, I'm just weird.
