Welcome back to another online store review! Today I’m trying on dresses, tops, skirts, matching sets, jeans and more. Boohoo clothing is pretty hit and miss. So many of the bigger TH-camrs that review Boohoo (like Zoella & Patricia Bright) don’t seem to talk about the tricks that Boohoo uses to lure people in to a false sense of urgency. The only reason I spent so much money on the site was because I was under the impression I was nabbing a once in a lifetime opportunity, that I’d never see again, with the “70% OFF SALE”.

nancy lopez A couple years ago when I first discovered this channel it bugged me that she would pause every 2 seconds due to Archie messing with her. I think it was a pet peeve at the time---I couldn't handle anyone being interrupted when they talked, especially multiple times in a sentence. I've just recently rediscovered it...I can't believe I left because of Archie 😭😭 He's my favorite part now, especially when he interrupts! 😭

I work retail, and our return policy with a receipt is 90 days. You could have worn the hell out of that item, washed it, whatever. You have a receipt we’ll (unfortunately at times) take it back. AND STILL, some people can’t make that three month mark. Like WTF PEOPLE. THREE MONTHS. THREE WHOLE MONTHS. WHY ARE YOU BRINGING THIS IN SIX MONTHS LATER, TAGS STILL ON WITH YOUR RECIPT?! NO!! GO AWAY OH MY GOD
I used to work retail, so I understand the struggle. But, I also have been one of those people who "puts it off". I have Bipolar 1, paranoia disorder, and an anxiety disorder. For me, just bringing it back to the store isn't as simple as just taking it back. My anxiety tells me they're going to yell at me for bringing it back. that they won't take it back. etc. I know it's silly, but anxiety and paranoia does that.
so sometimes, when they bring it back, it might be something unseen as to why it took them so long, or maybe they were out of town, or maybe they didn't have the money for the gas to get out there to return it.
Now, there is no excuse for people who take it back worn (besides a simple try on) or anything like that. c:

I missed a return deadline when my dad died. I know it was my fault for not remembering despite having other things going on, but I still wasn't keeping $200 boots with a broken zipper. Luckily the people who worked there understood and had a better attitude than most people.

This video was my very first introduction to Alex and her content, i was 16 years old and in high school at the hight of my pastel, japanese, feminine fashion "phase" (i'm 22 now and i still dress in pastel colours & in a feminine style). I adored her personality and how she reviewed each item, it felt like an older sister giving me advice on what to wear, how to wear it & if something was worth buying. She was the first australian youtuber i was ever subscribed to, living in the UK it felt so refreshing watching content from someone who lived on the other side of the world, i really wanted to visit australia all those years ago and i still do. i used to have a fear of parrots growing up but watching archie in her videos gave me positive reinforcement in ascociating something that i liked with someting that i had previously feared so much.
It breaks my heart rewatching this after hearing the heartbreaking news a week ago, may she rest peacefully in her pastel kingdom. R.I.P. Alex 🕊

I've actually bought quite a lot of stuff and been happy with it from Boo Hoo, but that's probably because I have some rules about what to try and what to avoid. Anything with an extreme neckline is out. If a V neck looks deep on the model, its just going to be worse in reality (they will use tape to fix it in place for the photos). Off the shoulder stuff is going to be awkward if cheap because whilst there are fashion size guidelines people work to, there isn't a measurement for around the entire body including arms at an off the shoulder height. So the manufacturer will use a fit model local to them. Which is usually somewhere where most people are shorter and more petite/thin in general (especially when you consider that they're models). So there is just too much margin for error. Same deal with anything "out there" stylistically. Heavily embellished? How were they attached? At this price point they'll fall off. I tried buying shorts. Never again. lol
So what I buy are stretchy fabric skater dresses and some bodycon dresses (95% viscose, 5% elastane) as they are so stretchy that they just work really well. Even though I have a large bust I can get away with shopping by my waist size as there's enough stretch to fit my boobs. Basically the plainest styles work really well. And because I'm boring, I buy the same style in every colour I like that they sell the style in. And if it comes in black then I buy multiple because I don't care. Comfort is everything. :D

FYI I think the "pastle/pastell" thing might be relative for the area - I was raised to say the opposite. "Pastell goth vs Oil Pastles".
It might be similar to how people in or somehow connected to regional victoria will often pornounce Castle as "Cassle" versus "Car-sle".
This is all irrelavent, I've just noticed people in different states say things differently sometimes and I find it interesting!

If you look at American language, it's from European influences. Which means we are clearly saying a lot wrong. I found an article that stated a man changed the spelling to many words. So.. in conclusion, say "Pastel" the way you have learned. I may just follow your lead. :)
Even as an American, I say pah-stil instead of pah-stehl. It just makes more phonetic sense with the single "L". However, both are perfectly valid and no one should be criticized for how they pronounce something!

I think the reason why the clothes fit so bad because the company wants to push out new products as fast as they can. Fitting clothes takes a long time so they don't bother try fitting more often. The price is so low due to that and the cheap fabric (and labor too).

If you hate ironing buy a steamer. Kmart has cheap ones. It's a life changer 😍 I have lots of clothes I avoided wearing until I got my clothes steamer it makes all the wrinkles drop out its magic.

I love mine too. A tip (as someone who has had to steam hundreds of garments per show as a wardrobe stagehand in a theater) steam from the inside of the garment. It cuts your time spent de wrinkling down even further

If you put that knit sweater in a warm wash cycle then lay it flat to dry. The tussling around in the machine, and the soap, with the warm water will felt the material, then you should be able to cut it. However, you could always just sew it up underneath.

When I am confused about what to do with an item, I tell myself if I haven't worn it or used it within two months, it is donation time. Let's me keep it, but it also helps make letting it go easier.
For the second white blouse you could use wig tape (it's like strong double stick tape) and just tape the shirt to your shoulders!

Turn the coral and gray top to the two piece set into a skirt. The white jacket add some Hello Kitty,unicorn etc. patches to it, you'll like it better.
I think we can all relate to the whole "i've got plenty of time, i can worry about it later." thing. We've all been there. And on the pastel thing, I've heard it pronounced both ways for both items. Not sure which one is right for which. We'd have to ask a native French speaker, I suppose. On the blouse/button up topic, It depends on how dressy the top is...and if there are buttons. Because a button up can be a blouse, but not all blouses have buttons. A blouse just needs to be drapey & slightly voluminous.

When it's pronunced past-e-l it's an American way. The way that you pronunce it the way that you do its how the mojority says it
Blouse is silkier and more "feminine", a button up is usually a cotton or cotton blend and more "masculine". I tend to just say dress shirt lol.
As for the pastel rainbow set, it could be worn in public if you switch up pieces, but not as the full set because it does look a bit pajama like.
The white denim distressed jacket could probably be dyed to better fit your aesthetic in terms of color pallet, and if you still don't like it there's no rule against still selling it.

Pretty Pastel Please They're little pocket sized, rainbow chicken hellions! 😂 but they're so much fun! I've had them for about 5 months and they're both nearly a year old now.
The one thing Boohoo does consistently well is bodysuits. They get the fit just right. But you do have to size up. Also their slim fit basic v neck t shirts and plain basic jersey camis. They are cheap and they fit great. They put ASOS to shame in both departments.
And that’s about it.

Regarding the rainbow set:The trend of “joggers”-what they’re called in the US, at least (and those pants would be considered “joggers”)-and just a plain tee is REALLY on trend, in the US, at least. I’ve definitely dressed up joggers with ankle boots and a faux leather jacket with an oversized white tee, I lounge around in them, and I’ve gone to the grocery store with joggers, slide on sandals, an oversized tee and a denim jacket. Joggers are so versatile. 😊😊😊

Are you shopping at their tall range? From what I remember boohoo's Tall start at 5'7'', so that might be why all the skirts and dresses are too short for you? And a thing about the tight dresses - no one really looks non-lumpy under those, not without shapewear, or a powermesh lining (which cheap dresses won't have) - and especially very slim people like you, your hipbones/ribs/other bony parts will always poke the fabric, because the fabric is really quite thin.
at the time, I had no idea that there was a tall range! I know now though, so i'm sure that would make a big difference :D
Yeah, hope it will help :) I'm 5'7'' with a long torso and any jumpsuits/dresses I buy in the Tall section usually fit a lot better. (Even though I wouldn't ever consider 5'7'' tall).
I think one of the only reasons (besides your bubbly attitude) that I watch is for your bird. My bunny does the same thing, he tends to annoy me whenever I'm doing something and tries to make as much noise as possible.

Say pastel however you're comfortable. People are stupid and don't understand that other countries have different dialects. Technically your pronunciation is proper because it is the original pronunciation. The American one (that they want you to say) really isn't.

I feel like boohoo greatly misrepresented the majority of the clothing you bought. It Really seems like the clothes shown on the model are not the same exact designs or especially the colors are not the intended color at all. The ones on boohoo are lovely bright pastels and the ones u actually received were faded or just off coloured. Very unfair!
It's hard to know if they altered the image colours in photoshop, or if the clothes they showed on the models were actually different! I reckon anything under $10 is worth it, but anything over that is a rip off considering how different the items look. Thank you for watching!
