The state is low-balling capacity to get more donors and lower their liability. I see it as, the state has funds for a 35k facility and donors better cover the rest. The is a great opportunity to sell naming rights and other sponsorships. I think this is much more complex than funding a local little league baseball field. We may see design concepts, but it will not get settled nor funded this year.

Actually, Mississippi State and Ole Miss used to play in Jackson . . . then the state gave them enough money to improve their own "On-Campus" stadiums, so that they would not have to bring their big games back to Jackson. The state gave Alcorn money to build its own stadium, and they "almost" gave Valley money to improve their stadium.. JSU has never gotten its stadium money. Come on IHL . . . ( and I attended Alcorn) Let's push for Valley's improvements as well.

JSU based on the revenue the football program generates for the city of Jackson needs/ deserves a new on campus stadium. The stadium should have a minimum seating capacity of 50,000 seats plus luxury boxes. Limiting JSU to a 35 thousand seat off campus stadium is simply an attempt to limit the financial growth, the energy and the nation wide HBCU cultural explosion from continuing to happen.

But being realistic, Jackson doesn't need a 60k Stadium on campus when they're averaging 33k per game. I think they want it to be 35k so it will guarantee sell outcevery game for an X amount of years stretch to gain a more premier fan base. Plus they can make the stadium as luxurious as they want. That's what happened with UABs new stadium here in B'ham and why we didn't get the Dome instead. Same with ASU getting a new 27k stadium built instead of the Cramton Bowl getting expanded in Montgomery.

With the pro trend going to enclosed stadium and climate change, why would JSU not consider a new stadium or renovations that makes the facility climate sustainable (e.g., solar power) with surrounding area for economic development (live, work, and play concept). I do not believe many Southern colleges have sustainability as part of their facility, but it JSU could raise the standards. If JSU is going to do this, we should go with a 50-60K seat dome on campus. I would never agree with a downgrade in seating just to have a stadium on campus.

As an alumni myself this is one of the main reasons I left MS...politics and how they reuined many things including the city as a whole. But as for JSU ...they have been talking about this since 2012-2013 with the dome concept. I see how having it downtown or at the metro mall site or off campus could help in that would be money for the school depending on how that business contract is written. As for the current site it's not bad either and u can kind of see it from I-55. Barely lol. But I just hope they go ahead and let them have or ooooooor just give all rights to the Vet and money 🤑 and stop playing with JSU. The other PWIs don't have to put up with this as in MSU Ole Miss or USM.... Why JSU? Yeah that part. Until next time...here's to THEE I LOVE all the way from DUUUUUVAAAAAAAL 🙏😎👍

Im not really impressed with the design of this stadium. It looks REALLY basic. This is the design that the consultants came up with for the feasibility study. I'm sure JSU will come up with a design that looks a little better than this one. I think that the stadium should be no less than 50,000 seats. The school already has 24 acres of land, that's more than enough to put the stadium on. I think the Bengals stadium sits on 22 acres of land. I looked at the site across from WLBT and I think that the location at the school looks better anyway.

Some of the nfls greatest played there and called that stadium home. Everyone talking about how old it is not realizing msu and ole miss stadiums are older. Two other things that made me laugh was the fact they took the high school championships from their saying they wanted to play on college fields. But what made me say leave it their is when I saw the governor say "I love the urban folks downtown, but we need to find a way for them to stay in their place".
