EVERESTING MOUNT EVEREST

  • The concept of attempting an Everesting upon the newly sealed roads of Everest itself seemed completely crazy, especially considering the brutal headwinds, fiercely cold temperatures, and high altitude we'd be facing.
    Oddly, that's where both the adventure, and the appeal lay for our riders.
    Join us as we take you on our incredible journey through Tibet to Everest Base Camp, made possible in partnership with Specialized Bicycles, Gore Bike Wear, and and Serk Cycling.
    See the all the amazing photos, scenery, and read more about what went on behind the scenes here: cyclingtips.co...

    Very impressive. I trekked all over that area when I was younger. I bumped into two Italians on road bikes. Father and son, they had decided to ride from Milan to Hong Kong. They had got to Darjeeling! But that means they had acclimatised for three weeks ...... which is what you need!

    Such an awesome adventure guys. It doesn't matter that you didn't get to 8848m as Everesting is a very personal challenge and for each of you every vertical metre should be a victory. You have the option to go back, the mountain isn't going anywhere.

    There's missing info for this video. Is the route you took the same as the JJ Zhou, who just became the first person to do it? He said there was a 50m difference in height of a 1.2km route, so that's 177 laps = 212.4km at 5000m above sea level. Took him 40h total, 26h on the bike.

    For what it's worth my altitude breathing tip is Exhale completely every breath as in a yoga breathing exercise so as to be able to fill lungs 100%

      This will sound strange but I've learned to pause after breathing in and breathing out each time. Letting the oxygen to be adsorbed better in a sense. I've noticed a 10-15% increase in power/ease/speed doing this.

    I have driven up that pass. Like Matilda I puked after having gone back down. What hit me was a double whammy of a vicious diarrhea bug that my wife had during the train trip there, (not fun), and altitude sickness. The head pounding was out of this world. Anyway. Nope I would never even attempt to ride it.

  • @matthewlovoy5944
    @matthewlovoy5944 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think if guys were elite cyclists. They would not as much problem as you guys did plus you cant go there in 2 days and think you would not get Altitude sickness . You would have to be there for weeks to be able to complete that attempt. Why do think it takes so long for mountaineers to climb Mt Everest. You have to respect the Mountain .

  • @mcvrs1223

    Fantastic to make the effort ..to witness the voice of the mountains.. Me and my son on on the PJAMM list.. he at 12 yrs old has climbed back to back days of Pikes Peak and Mt Evans.. so perhaps the same vertical climb...it certainly was very challenging. as a Dad I was worried about him.. in retrospect he climbed faster than me..each of us with just two small 1 " stops to regain balance.. and fluids.. the Everest challenge is on our list as well. now that I see the roads..I think we can accomplish this..
