'Apache' is a head written by Barry Harris on the changes to 'Cherokee'.
Love how Peter keeps his musicality and rich ideas even at this tempo, and that drum solo just amazing. Please upload more of this combo!
Dude the bass players solo holy moly
Thank you for so much fun, the difference between the guitarists's style is amazing.
Grasso pianistic, classical. Bernstein horn-like, idiosyncratic
Exactly - the pairing is what makes it so fun and rich.
I watched all four sets and could have listened to them for a year straight. What a great weekend! Thank you Chris’ Jazz Cafe!
Pasquale is a force of nature.
Wow!
Amazing jazz sound
Yeah!!!!
PB is the man
extremadamente muchisima agilidad en los dedos de Pasquale
Had to check to make sure my playback speed wasn’t set to 2x
This is so brilliant
In Awe 😮
Keep em comin!
Pasquale burning down he house!
🔥
Awesome!!!!! Wanted to go on the 18th but a stomach virus said No! lol Thanks for posting!!!!!
Che spettacolo ❤
Please, please, post a full set! 😊
Long live Barry! Long Live Grasso!
👍
Per me attualmente Grasso è il migliore chitarrista al mondo,
Ótimo. Obrigado. Gênero batido mas vocês são grande.
good gracious me... :D :D
"Peter and the Wolf" at 2:51 for the call-out win!
nice catch!
Now that’s a great catch !
I could listen to Peter keeping it rich and interests for hours. The others, not so much, brillant, but how long before the awe wears off and it gets repetitive?
He really does say twice as much with half the notes.
For a second I thought they might play a surf guitar song
I rather naively thought they were going to be playing the shadows song....
casio digital
The difference between the 2 guitarist can be compared to how to pilot a plane.: "In front" of the plane, you have plenty of time, your piloting is relax, that's Pasquale, "behind" the plane, all happens too fast, you struggle, that's Peter. For really high up tempo, no technical compromise is possible, independantly of the quality of your ideas.
Lmao 😂
Is this sped up?
No. They can play fast.
🤣
I think Grasso could use some reverb 🤷🏽♂️
Nope!
@@leoosiku Yep!
@@tonywallens217 I’ll let him know next time I see him.
Why?
@@arataka57 to put him in the room. Otherwise the sound goes straight from the amp to the mic to the ear with no room simulation. Too dry
Pasquale is far superior on this "Cherokee" clip though not as clearly as on "The Song is You". Bernstein is visibly struggling with the changes and his instrument. Maybe it's not his night, another day maybe?
Certainly not the way I heard it. They are both great players at the highest level with different vocabulary. Didn’t feel like Peter was struggling and appreciated that he left space and played in an interactive way. Peter pretty much nailed the changes too! Just not as much in a bebop way which Pasquale does at such a high level.
Strongly disagree with @vova47's comment - Yes Pasquale is able to play ridiculously difficult bebop language at a really fast tempo and it is truly amazing, but I found Bernstein's solo way more interesting to listen to, felt more spontaneous, nailed the changes, and every phrase felt fresh and surprising. Kinda like listening to Monk in lots of ways. Such a big fan of both of these masters and comparisons are pointless, but neither solo was "superior" imho
haha wtf? to be honest i kinda liked PBs solo better
pb cuts every day, that's just how he plays lol. check him out some more
