I have two 1508 stacks of 3. Everyone who hears them notices the tightness and speed of the drivers. I love them.

REL Subs have always been intriguing however for even THX levels the minimum low frequency is 20hz. Will REL make a H.T. Sub that can extend to at least 18hz at 85db ? Of course while still being competitive at $1500.00 range?

I still want to know what the subsonic filter is doing I didn't catch that.
My dual 1508s I read 85db at 15hz so to me a subsonic filter will stop frequencies below the 21 hz capability the 1510s have.
Is that true or will the 1510s now give me like 91 db at 15hz?
So 3db gain on the new 1510s? Not bad but not great also if that's true.

Hi Shane, I didn’t get the subsonic part explained by John Hunter. Could you tell us a little bit more about what he meant by this.
Because in your review I remember these still don’t go that low.
    Many thanks.

So is it safe to say that 1003 mk2 is gonna be a little stick of dynamite compared to the mk1?

I always cringe when I hear the idea of stacking subs ontop of eachother. Like yeah you'll gain 6db or so of extra output but it's not going to do anything to fix the grand canyon of missing output due to room acoustics that no amount of DSP or fancy sub parts are going to fix. Although if I had 9 subs I might consider starting to stack them but anything less than that and it's going in a corner or at a midpoint on a wall, but even just randomly scattered throughout the room would work pretty well I'd wager.

I don't understand why people do stacks of three. Isn't a pair enough for just about any room? I see two channel listening set ups using 2 stacks of three, why are they doing this?

I'll tell you the difference without all the jargon. LOL The 1510 is slightly quicker, it's punchier, it has slightly more output down low 1-3db from 20-30hz and significantly more midbass from 60hz on up.
