The moody blues was playing when i was young , middle aged,as when i flew my hang gliders, now when i fly my trikes, as i get old, and they will be playing when i pass
Why because they enspire my spirituality with what created me and my will to Fly like a bird.

Thank you so much! I've never seen this and it's wonderful. I have listened to them ever since "Days of Future Passed", but I became a full-fledged, dyed in the wool, other bands don't exist Moody Mama the first time I heard "Question ". I ended up loving the whole album, but the 2nd verse of "Question" reminded me of my mother.
"And when you stop and think about it,
    You won't believe it's true,
That all the love you've been giving,
Has all been meant for you ..."
She became a fan, and at 86, she was probably the oldest fan at the concerts. What was her favorite song? "Question", of course!

    A little trivia:
(Please correct me if I'm wrong, sometimes I forget)
    1. Mike Pinder made so many modifications to his Mellotron, that the company came up with the Pindertron model.
    2. The reason "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band" was written is people were always ambushing them, wanting to know the meaning of life. They thought since their music was so esoteric, that the Moodys were aliens and had all the answers.
    3. The poem which was the lead in and closure on DOFP was written by Graeme Edge, and recited by Mike Pinder.
    4. Where did they come up with the name Moody Blues?
When the original members first started, they played in a blue collar establishment called the M&B Alehouse. It was customary to honor the place where you were playing, so they called themselves the M&B Five. It somehow evolved into the name we know and love.
    5. When they reunited in 1977, Mike Pinder left the band because he didn't want to tour anymore. Patrick Moraz joined and played keyboards.
    6. The producers at Decca wanted and expected a rock version of Dvorak's New World Symphony. They agreed, and asked to not be disturbed for a week, and they would do it. The London Festival Orchestra was actually a group of individual musicians practically dragged in off the streets to play. At the end of the alloted time allowed, the producers hated it and were furious that orders were not followed. Except one. The owner of Decca. He loved it. And so was born- Days of Future Passed.
    7. When Denny Laine left, the guys were looking for another singer/guitar player. Eric Burden had just advertised for a guitar player, and after hiring one, had a mailbag full of applications, so he gave it to our guys.
This is the way Ray Thomas told it:
"We were going to reach in the bag, pull out an envelope, and that's who we were going to hire. So,, we did, called the chap in to audition, and hired him on the spot. His name was Justin Hayward. Could you imagine if he had been hired by Eric?"
Ray passed away in 2018, and (I'm crying here because I just this minute found out) Graeme passed away on 2021.
If there IS a rock & roll heaven, they got the beginnings of a hell of a band. But, lets hope it's a very long time before they re-hire John and Justin.

And...as a songwriter/musician...JUSTIN'S LYRICS & PLEAFUL VOCALS THT HE SINGS ALONG WITH THE VERY MELODIC OR UPBEAT COMPOSITIONS FOR EA OF HIS ORCHESTRATED MYSTIC ROMANTIC LYRICS AS WELL AS HE & THE MOODYZ COLLECTIVELY HAVE MADE A HUGE IMPACT ON MY WRITINGS..in fact..I just had some friends tell me that my lyrics mirror Justins & svrl other Moody songs...Justin is to me what BUDDY HOLLEY IS TO HIM...MY MAJOR INFLUENCE☆

    • @musictofeelby1
      @musictofeelby1 10 ปีที่แล้ว

Floyd is an jnfluence..you know this..as was JACKSON BROWN...Floyd being your ONLY preference...a moot communicae...You rock out with your loud..meaningless preferences that I cannot relate to with exception of the last 2 Floyd releases WITHOUT ROGER WATERS...MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON & DIVISION BELL. Waters & rest focused too much on what became of SID BARRET..whom DAVID GILMOUR replaced. WISH YOU WERE HERE is a perfect example...the MOODYZ & JUSTIN HAYWARD, on the other hand...grabbed my ear on the 2nd measure of NEW HORIZONS...the way he expresses his feelings vocally & lyrically just sat me down and had me listening soo intently to each word and how he expressed them musically thru his acoustic or electric guitars..or even the keyboards..such as on 1 of my all time favs...live & studio off THE PRESENT cd...RUNNING WATER☆♡..soooo lovely and beautifully written..sang & played☆ But..OCTAVE is the release in 78 that spawned many songs I wrote. I credit Justin for each of those songs as DRIFTWOOD..THE DAY WE MEET AGAIN & HAD TO FALL... ALLL played a part in each lyric I wrote from 78-80.
I have listened to EVERY LYRIC..OR READ..OR BOTH...and it's easy for me to see his focus in his words and how he expresses them through his compositions, which he channels through his vocal inflections sooo skillfully & with precision timing. Very captivating...very easy to get lost in the song as it defines or tells the story..or secret..or feelings..sooo much can be revealed in his lyrics! His adoration for his wife of coming up on or thier 50 yrs of a happy marriage, with a beautiful daughter, Dorime. Now married with a family of her own. Which brings to mind the Moodyz song with Justin singing it...THIS IS THE MOMENT. Another lovely and very pleaful..heartfelt..sang with such conviction about..I believe to be his undying. love for his wife & daughter and...as he phrases it in 1 of the verses, "...EVERY ENDEAVOR...THAT I'VE MADE EVER...", is him expressing how much effort it took him...& all the years of working to make ALLLL his dreams come true! But...that's just my interpretation! And just 1 of everything he has written that I have listened to the lyrics intently..or looked them up...which is at least 80% of EVERY song he has written. Ironically...I just happen to have a tremendous love for the ocean..sounds of the sea...an undying love for all God's creatures
...especially birds, as I started bringing home baby birds when I was 7. I would feed them cornmeal mixed with water from a dropper. Mostly sparrows. All eventually flew away. I would go to the encyclopedia and read up on all I could about which ever species, and teach em what they were meant to eat. If I had to catch worms or bugs to feed them as it came time...I would.
And Justin makes much mention of biirds in many songs...as well as my love for sunets that I used to chase to snap that 1 pic that completely takes your breath away. AND...HORSES..as I grew up from 7-12 yrs old in LOUISEVILLE, KY...BLUEGRASS, HORSE COUNTRY. I was thrown on a 161/2 Palomino at 7 and hung on...ended up riding everyday until we moved back to Atlanta 5 years later. So...I can relate to his lyrics just based on that.
I admire his commitment to his marriage and his ability to represent himself in a very professional, yet personable way in his interviews and has no problem saying he has a huge ego! Ahhh...I really chuckle everytime he says that to his interviewers. How honest is that👍AND THEN PLAY ON, JUSTIN...AND THEN PLAY ON☆

Great band but don't try to elevate them to Bee Gee's popularity, talent and success levels.

Bee Gees? They didn't last too long and They're music is pop and dance but not that meaningful.

@@joemachunda They started in 1959 in Australia. Progressive rock top ten songs in 68-70. Try "Red Chair Fade Away" or "new york mining disaster 1941" A whole decade before the disco stuff.

kingdom777866 I don't know what concerts YOU'RE going to, but you're way off in your opinions. The fact that they are now in the Hall of Fame knocks it out of the park.
They're doing what they love and we're listening.
One of the things I respect the most, is that they've never changed just to fit in. They are what you see and the fact that they're playing in sold out concerts speaks for itself, and puts you in the minority. That's your choice, but all I would say is that you don't know what you're missing...

I woke up to the moody blues. Lived life with that message of obe and soul travel. We live forever.

I have always loved their music; the irony of the rock scene is: despite the so-called alternative vibe, fortune and fame show how Capitali$m subsumes everything under its mercenary mantle!
