Hey buckin I'm Robert . Been climbing now for about 30 years and have been in the iceage the whole time ...I love my saws and now that im older have time to slow down and start playing with them ..thank you so much for your channel..I use what I learn daily ..and couldn't have got some of the info anywhere else thank you .
Glad to see 450K Buckin been here a long time ! Since 10k 😊 1 Buckinstock and still the kindest place on earth ! In a world where you can be anything, BE KIND ! Have a day !
Great saw!!! I ran a 2100 in 1978, but bought a 380 CD. I liked Husqvarnas so much that I became a dealer for eight and a half years. I still think they are the best saws on the planet. I just added a 592 XP to my collection. Thanks for all the great videos. Shalom/gw P.S. My old 380 CD still runs like the day I bought it. ;-))
The first high powered saw I owned was a Husky 1100 CD. It was about 1976. What a wild cat. At that time there was nothing that would cut with it. Eventually Husky upgraded to the 2100. It was about the same 100cc saw. I ran these through the 1980, using around 2 gallons of gas a day. These saws were awsum for the times. But they were heavy and vibrated more than todays top dogs. At night my hands/arms would feel numb. But I loved those big Huskys.
I knew it was over for the Stihl 500i when I saw the video saying the 4 stroking issue was solved when it clearly was still doing the blahh sound even after calibration. My calibrated ear heard it every time you hit the trigger on the 500i😊 Glad you got the saw you really wanted Buckin!

I know this video has nothing to do with it but I’m really excited I ordered a seized up Mac Pro 10-10 I’ve been wanting one for a while now Have everything to rebuild it. I just wanted to share it with you Buckin! I really appreciate your videos whenever I’m stressed or down I say a prayer and watch your video and your positivity definitely helps me out. Love you man God Bless!
I’ve learned a tremendous amount on how to hand file from your videos, and have more to go. Two huge mistakes I made in the past. I felt every tooth had to be treated the same and I never filed the rakers and I’m just getting started. I’ve only been working against my self for about 35 years. It got to the point that I was having my dealer sharpen my chain for me. Thank you for the education.
Interesting to hear you mention the 500i air filter issues, I’ve experienced the same thing. I now put a smear of grease around the inside of the sealing surfaces where the filter sits over the intake to catch the dust, and on the hole where it sits over the quarter turn pole. I’d love to see you elaborate more about this in another video, as personally I really think they need to sort it and address it officially. A bit more exposure would help give Stihl the hurry-up please! 😁 Just following your point of older guys needing easier kit - I now almost exclusively use the Husqvarna 540iXP (with either 200X or 300 battery) 16” saw for ALL my processing of grounded timber! It’s so light, has plenty of power, and no vibration, no fumes and less noise! You can even fell with it easily as long as you don’t try and go nuts with the little dogs. Once the log gets to nearer full bar length or if I’m cross cutting big crotches I usually switch to the 500i. The 540i is a great saw for anyone who wants to give their hands and back an easier time! 🤙
Awesome 2100, owned 2 of the in late 80's and early 90's falling amoung other models like the 266 and 272. Always made me smile to hear the 2100 working hard.
When all you run are huskies it's kind of a shock when you run a Stihl and you don't have that air injection. Just a few cuts and the filters are packed.
Every Stihl I have gets a foam oiled filter first thing then it's much better Still stupid having to upgrade a saw just to not suck fines when's it's brand new I cut a lot of dead pine in the high desert and you absolutely have to or you'll be sucking dust within a couple hours
I have one of them there CD2100's, got it for cutting some big firewood logs, stuff that would not make it to the mill for lumber. I love it. its a beast. also got an extra "new bar" and chain 52" bar with chain.
That's the nicest 2100CD I've ever seen. It's interesting that it has the XP on the air cleaner also. Congrats on being the new owner. Also, congrats on +450k!

Very Nice!!! I have an excellent condition 2100 here in Wisconsin! Damn right that compression is something else! I liken the 2100 to a dirt bike engine with a handle.
Great work on the chanel growing mate! Been great to see it grow! I've ran the 500 3 years hard in Australian hard woods and dusty old red gums and stringy barks. Stock filter fully stock saw and it's worked day in day out from 1-35 degree weather rain including and it just keeps cutting hard. Being in the repair business, for 44 years now Bucky, I like new technology but I'm stuck with my old Husqvarna and a few old stihl,s , my choice to run with the Stihl ms500i would be a nice warmed up modified Husqvarna XP 390, as a certified repair technician, the new breed of chainsaws are short-lived even if you're really take care of them most of our tippers in this area and get four years out of a two or three thousand dollars saw
Wow, I LOVE the gas and oil fill next to each other, Reminds me of the 360 pro Homelite I bought back in the 80s. I loved that saw. Large gas and oil fills right on TOP of the saw! And the gas and oil tanks were almost the same size. It was the first auto oiler I ever owned.
That thing is absolutely beautiful. I know there are smoother faster saws today, but IMO the 2100 was the best production Timber Falling saw ever built. They spared no expense building them, and the design way ahead of its time. That Cannon bard is the icing on the cake. I still use my 2101 on most my tree jobs. It's wearing a 50 inch Cannon these days. Awhile back on Craigslist there was a 2100 in the box, with all the manuals etc for 1,000 us. Either never fired or one test run .of I would have had the cash I would have bought it. Nice score Billy Ray!

Buckin you should have our friend Bjarne Buttler guest star one of your old Macs in the bush in one of his vids. For fun or have him round the stove on chain sharping on the block. Love your stuff the old fords are islanders classics keep the chips flowing.
404 skiptooth on my husky 298xp was standard on the landing, bucking poplar decks. Thats a good bucking saw, the weight isn’t an issue when you’re cutting down into wood all day. I’d hate to lug that around falling in steep terrain…but if you’re in big wood, then its a go to! Good trade Buckin! Who’s gonna start it for you?😜 Let your shoulder heal up good before you start yarding on the pullcord! cheers from northern BC
Hi Billy. Greetings from Poland in Europe! Your Husqvarna looks almost identically to Polish Dolpima PS180 and Dolpima PS280. As I remember correctly Dolpima made these chainsaws (or as You call them powersaws) in cooperation with Husqvarna. Pistons and cylinders were made by Mahle. Generally speaking these powersaws were awesome. My father has been using his PS180 for 30 years and it is still working with a new piston.
Hey buckin! I love the bark box personally but I’ve seen much the same, I’m the only guy on our crew who will run the 462 with the bark box and wcs 3-point dogs. Doesn’t bother me none I love that saw almost as much as my dog. Find what works for ya and stick to it. Much love from the socal mountains.
You know you got a vintage saw when it’s pre-chain brake! I’ve got a 1972 Husky 65 that I’ve owned over thirty years now and it still comes out to play a couple of times a year, without an issue! 👍❤️
I cut timber in the floodwood state forest back in the early 2000's with a 2100 with a front exit 285 muffler and a thin ring 2101xp piston. Deleted the carb governor and she ran at 11,500 rpm. Was my favorite big timber saw for years, actually I preferred it over my 084 and 3120
Love the video and the saw. Right now I have my 2100 in pieces as I'm sorting out a bar oil leak. While it's apart I'm putting in new crank seals as leaky one can torch a saw fast. Very tricky getting parts and info on these old beauties. Mine makes 170 psi compression and is original inside and has been worked hard, mostly milling by me. Mine aint anywhere as pretty as yours.
Max flow and west coast filters are best ..at keeping fines out .I'm old-school and can't go back they just work.500i Gordy sells a stack, for good price comes with a machined carb flue, velocity stack and filter ..love them ..bark box is great ..but it's a must to have ear plugs .I never wore them until I started using bark box.but there great..helps saw wake up and cool off.
Hey buckin I enjoy your videos have to tell you I bought a 2100 back in the 80 s is a brute in 1988 a hurricane came inland across the piedmont of North Carolina and blew down timber everywhere a friend asked me to log out his blow down which happened to be big prime red oak 30 plus inches tall and straight but it was all blown down hill with huge root balls ready to crush you so I measured off my log lengths cut from the top down and leave one log on the stump then I would stand it back up with my big articulated loader and cut it down like a tree. I thought I was pretty tough I was in my early thirties but I quit cutting at lunchtime on Friday bucking with the big 2100 wore me out. Also I had the starter handle pulled through my fingers many times compression. Still have the saw. Looking forward to seeing you run that one.a clarification I finished the job just to wore out by Friday afternoon to keep working made good money on that one but definitely earned it
Hey Buckin, I can't lie. Just a little bummed to see the 500 hit the road. I thought for a hot minute we had a chance of converting ya to a Sthil man "LOL". That"s ok still love ya brother. I've been here since the beginning so I'm not going anywhere. A matter of fact, Just wanted to share with ya my 17 month old grandson can't get enough of your videos. I got him a Sthil 500I toy saw for Christmas and he carries it everywhere with him, takes it to the woods and he knows what to do with it. When he hears the woodman song he starts dancing, he loves ya too. You have an effect on people of all ages it seems. Now quit trying to pull on that 2100 before you jack that shoulder up some more. My little man is ready to see his buddy back at full steam. Have a good one.
I love my little ms362 powersaw, I get excited watching buckin so I'll grab my pro Mac 55 and go cut only to revert back to my 362, however it's more about the Oregon chain than the saw
I always put a schmear of heavy grease under and inside my air filter. The grease will catch any dust that might sneak through the filter and be an indicator of trouble. As far as 500i vs whatever, I'll take tope of the line technology over just about anything when comparing machines of "equal" caliber. Great video.
I am truly honoured to receive a reply from yourself, love all your videos and people like you, Donnie, Tinman, Ironhorse and many more to wich I apologise for not mentioning them are really an inspiration and true characters. All the best from UK and if you have time I have couple of short videos with vintage saws.
Hello buckin. I run a bark box on my 661,500,and 462. I work for the forest service and only cut trees on fires and hazard trees on the forest. Not for logging so all my cuts are at belly button level so the exhaust fumes aren’t blowing in my face. If I was low stumping I might have a different opinion.
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith no it’s a full wrap. I cut from both sides of the tree. What ever side is safer. I cut a lot of hazard trees so I’m looking up 95% of the time.
Good morning! What a nice surprise! Got up to stoke the fire and here’s a bucking video staring me in the face 🤩 wow what a nice score ya got there brother!! Minty!!!
i started climbing and felling in 79’ 80’ and i have 10 saws , i saw your collection of saws and i am beyond impressed lol , i did switch from stihl and jonse’ halfway through my career and by far huskies have treated me so much better than the others , i have nerve damage from jonse’ and stihl , husky was the leader and still is on dampening technology, wish they had it when i was younger, i might be able to feel my hands now 😂
picked up one from an ol faller for fixing his 372, tossed some ccrank seals in it and a carb kit got it running smooth lol no decomp and a broken knuckle didnt deter me , but now i need to fix the horrendous fuel leak in it. very nice old saws though
Good morning Chief. Great to see that big boy 2100. Can't believe I sold my nice 3120 about 10 years ago for $400 what an idiot . They shoulda came with a Kickstarter instead of a pull cord. It's a dirt bike engine. Same cc.
She is a beauty! I have never cut with one yrs back in the national forest I was cutting within a hundred yards of a guy running one and I have seen them sitting but never ran one. lol kinda crazy I have had just about every other production falling Husqvarna in my hands. She is mint buckin enjoy her as I know you will and she couldn't be in better hands. Everyone who watches your videos can enjoy seeing the 2100CD!
That is crazy clean 2100. Wow. Them old gals had some compression. Had a 2 ring 2100 and you could hang it by the start handle all day, alllll day and it wouldn’t budge. Tons of compression. Still want a 500i lol. Got a 361 for a deal and so far I’m impressed. Little 60cc but my goodness it screams.
Yeah you either run it out the side and be smart enough to move your face or run it out the front and catch the tree your cutting on fire. Easier for me to move my face than put out a forest fire 😁👍🏼
I can help!!! Heres some good advice!! Buy a small saw. 261 50cc 10lbs would be awesome. Buy a falling saw 462 would be the best choice. IF you need bigger then that 661 would be awesome. Unfortunately STIHL makes 20 saws in the 13lb area and only 1 would be my top choice. 462. I just think its that good and man it screams. You can run a 20 inch bar on a 462 or a 32. There is not many saws that can do that. 72cc and 6hp at 13lbs... Thats a saw.... To give you a comparison. The 391 is heavier and has much Less power. I guess if you only have 500 600 to spend then I understand.
On my 500i I use every day cutting very large hard maple , I have no problem with oem filter if don’t blow it out one day I make sure the next day 3 yrs now no miss steps from the saw
Found one of these guys in the house i bought but it has a 285 pullcord on it, i posted it on a facebook group and they said it looks like a 2100, cleaned some oil and found the tag. she needs lots of work, been worked hard.
Just the other day, I was watching a fellow test 2 different aftermarket mufflers on a Stihl 661, one was a bark box, the other looked the same, but was a little more aggressive, and he also used the stock muffler. The saw cut fastest with the stock muffler in 18" softwood, and slowest with the stock muffler in hardwood. Needless to say, I was a little confused by the results.
Just bought me a chainsaw and some climbing gear and I’m gonna dive in…I’m as green as the leaves on the trees and these videos are the best source of good information I’ve found so far much appreciated!!!!!!

“If you or a loved one have suffered from hot air in the face due to a bark box, you may be entitled to compensation” 😂🤣. Great video
@BuckinBillyRaySmith_-this is is a fake account. do not engage. notice the extra punctuation
Love it✊🏼. Looks like your new saw has some compression.
thx for the footage looks great , let us know in the wood
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith will do!
Buckin, nothing wrong with running huskies! Some like to tinker and work on things a lot and there's nothing wrong with that at all. 😃
Hahahaha.....
@@deniseanderson7895 😇
Hey buckin! I love the bark box personally but I’ve seen much the same, I’m the only guy on our crew who will run the 462 with the bark box and wcs 3-point dogs. Doesn’t bother me none I love that saw almost as much as my dog. Find what works for ya and stick to it. Much love from the socal mountains.
thx pal
I bought a 2101 a couple of months ago. It is heavy but the feel in the hand is what makes me like is so much.
We use to put extra gaskets under cylinder so guys could start them
You know you got a vintage saw when it’s pre-chain brake!
I’ve got a 1972 Husky 65 that I’ve owned over thirty years now and it still comes out to play a couple of times a year, without an issue! 👍❤️
great saw
Buckin just had a ice storm hit my area in Buffalo NY a tree cleanup everywhere time for some axe of kindness
What a great opportunity ❤ Stay safe in them twisty trees!! And have fun!!
look up
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith yes sir
We got the same deal in the Midwest...the trees here are still covered in ice. A lot of them came down, either just snapped or uprooted. It's a mess
@@AnarchAngel1 same here ice is just beginning to melt of I did two free cleanup gonna wait till more melts off
2100 where it all started for me. I can still feel my hands vibrating.😂 that’s a beauty👌
I cut timber in the floodwood state forest back in the early 2000's with a 2100 with a front exit 285 muffler and a thin ring 2101xp piston. Deleted the carb governor and she ran at 11,500 rpm. Was my favorite big timber saw for years, actually I preferred it over my 084 and 3120
I come in Just after on the 94 still got er . how are ya ol' boy?
Looking forward to seeing you run that one.a clarification I finished the job just to wore out by Friday afternoon to keep working made good money on that one but definitely earned it
I had a 2100 just like that for buckin in the woodpile! Not nearly as nice as yours but they are legendary!
Have a good one.
great stuff ,, but you didnt really think that wood happen did ya? lolololool
love ya buddy
I love my little ms362 powersaw, I get excited watching buckin so I'll grab my pro Mac 55 and go cut only to revert back to my 362, however it's more about the Oregon chain than the saw
I always put a schmear of heavy grease under and inside my air filter. The grease will catch any dust that might sneak through the filter and be an indicator of trouble. As far as 500i vs whatever, I'll take tope of the line technology over just about anything when comparing machines of "equal" caliber. Great video.
Wow you made out good on that trade Buckin that 2100CD is a sweet looking machine
a dandy
Congratulations man! That’s a pristine machine!
Thwts one lovely saw definitely worth the swap. I would love to have a 2100, one day I'll have 1 in my collection
Lovely husqvarna 2100,I have some myself 2100,298,285, I enjoy running them, loads of power and torque, love your videos.
thx
I am truly honoured to receive a reply from yourself, love all your videos and people like you, Donnie, Tinman, Ironhorse and many more to wich I apologise for not mentioning them are really an inspiration and true characters. All the best from UK and if you have time I have couple of short videos with vintage saws.
Is it just me or does it sound like buckin saying Fart Box n thaking hot air in the face the hole episode 😄
Hello buckin. I run a bark box on my 661,500,and 462. I work for the forest service and only cut trees on fires and hazard trees on the forest. Not for logging so all my cuts are at belly button level so the exhaust fumes aren’t blowing in my face. If I was low stumping I might have a different opinion.
good stuff.. are cutting mainly on the right side as well? thx pal
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith no it’s a full wrap. I cut from both sides of the tree. What ever side is safer. I cut a lot of hazard trees so I’m looking up 95% of the time.
I have a barkbox on my 046 , I like it ... when I am felling my posture is stretched out so I have not had a problem with the exhaust .
That was a good trade
Good morning! What a nice surprise! Got up to stoke the fire and here’s a bucking video staring me in the face 🤩 wow what a nice score ya got there brother!! Minty!!!
Just a beautiful old saw. Looks like a good trade.
beautiful saw Bucking keep up the good work
you bet
Sizemore tree service is as you said a first class Operation. I meet him as well just another blessing from the Bunyan
That old school saw with the manual oiler is sweet
i started climbing and felling in 79’ 80’ and i have 10 saws , i saw your collection of saws and i am beyond impressed lol , i did switch from stihl and jonse’ halfway through my career and by far huskies have treated me so much better than the others , i have nerve damage from jonse’ and stihl , husky was the leader and still is on dampening technology, wish they had it when i was younger, i might be able to feel my hands now 😂
picked up one from an ol faller for fixing his 372, tossed some ccrank seals in it and a carb kit got it running smooth lol no decomp and a broken knuckle didnt deter me , but now i need to fix the horrendous fuel leak in it. very nice old saws though
Good morning Chief. Great to see that big boy 2100. Can't believe I sold my nice 3120 about 10 years ago for $400 what an idiot . They shoulda came with a Kickstarter instead of a pull cord. It's a dirt bike engine. Same cc.
never like the 3120, but then again its big hahaha . good ta see ya Bobby
Holy cow!! Talk about a unicorn! Brand new 2100. I can't believe it. What a find.
Glad to see you got the better deal. 1 you looked happier, 2 those Huskies will drop some tree's now... Good deal Buckin...
I've been running the bark box for about a year and I've never even noticed the blowback in the face, maybe my beard is catching it all or something🤣
Yeah you either run it out the side and be smart enough to move your face or run it out the front and catch the tree your cutting on fire. Easier for me to move my face than put out a forest fire 😁👍🏼
He did clearly state that the thing is awesome and he knows a FEW people that have complained abt it. He wasn’t hatin fellas.
lol good stuff😁
@@jimmylarge1148 I know he wasn't hatin', neither am I, I've just never really noticed this particular saw phenomenon is all
The company replaced the Sthils with the Husqvarna 2100s back in 77 or 78 , been a Husky man ever since ! 👍🇨🇦
Sporty Rick here from WOODS LOGGING SUPPLY....... 500i is a good saw! and even better pumped up.... But a 2100 in brand new condition is a no brainer
I have a 285cd I can't wait to get running
Wow! What a beautiful example of a 2100 cd!
Congratulations on 450,000 subscribers, Buckin! I've watched you grow from 15,000 subscribers. Sweet 2100! Love what you do for this community. - Glen
Cool story.
Needless to say, I was a little confused by the results.
hahhaaha right on. could have been the operator

absolutely beautiful 2100. Ive had a few cross my hands but nothing like that one nice trade brother
I have to same issue with the bark box. Took it off after a couple days. Back to stock..
buckins excited, like a kid on christmas!
Just bought me a chainsaw and some climbing gear and I’m gonna dive in…I’m as green as the leaves on the trees and these videos are the best source of good information I’ve found so far much appreciated!!!!!!
That is a beautiful 2100. I've got a L77 that's like new and still hunting for a mint 2100
Husqvarna 2100 CD? I‘m in Love!
Only the 3120 XP is bigger, but the 2100 CD is awesome!!!
Beautiful saw! In such great shape!
Beautiful saw Buckin! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
