Just had my annual haul from local walnut tree 💚🇬🇧🌱 delicious... Found some hen of the woods local too, but I was too late as it had gone over, next year though...
I didn't know walnuts grew in the UK until I found a few on the ground and realized they were coming off the tree 😂 I did know that they grew on trees, just never seen them before 👍 Spotted them while on holiday in Stoke Gabriel, very tasty.

Your videos are fantastic. Foraging for mushrooms has always been something I'd really love to do, but always been a bit fearful to take the first step. You videos are really, really clear and with sound advice that is really easy to take on board. I feel like I can cautiously take the first step now. On the other hand, if I die, it's your fault.
We love your videos, you have really inspired us to get well into foraging this year, especially with the food prices going up and up it is incredible what you can find and its so nice being able to get outside more because of it. Searching for mushrooms is almost like pokemon for us, you never know what you will find!

I recommend Edible Mushrooms by Geoff Dan for an at home read - not a field guide, but really great for showing all the kinds of edible mushrooms we can find in the UK, Ireland and Europe, and gives lookalikes and common poisonous mushrooms. Geoff also recommends a few good field guides - I’m yet to get one myself, but assume if you can get your hands on any one of these, it will serve you well… Buczaki, S. (2012). Collins Fungi Guide: the most complete field guide to mushrooms and toadstools of Britain & Ireland. Jordan, M. (2004). The Encyclopedia of Fungi of Britain and Europe. Philips, R. (2006). Mushrooms. Sterry, P. and Hughes, B. (2009). Collins Complete Guide to British Mushrooms and Toadstools.
i seen that walnut tree was suffering from walnut blight, iknow this effects nuts and the leaves, is it safe to wat nuts from trees that are infected or have a disease?
I have a huge walnut tree in my garden (well my neighbours actually but I get plenty on my side). But they are so hard to take out! Their shell is thicker than what I see in all the TH-cam videos. Even with cutting pliers I lose most of the nut. No chance to get large pieces out. Any advice? They are very tasty 😋

When I was young I made a “cigar” out of a dry puffball that made spores, I did just blow through it and didn’t inhale.

Are Earth Balls more or a beige colour when young? There are some growing in woods nearby.

Are you allowing them to dry out for a few days. This will help them to shrink back a bit from the shell.
