    Just recently found out your channel and absolutely love your videos.
    I am from Canada and just finished my 3rd year of accounting undergrad.
    I am also leaning towards tax and want to work in tax after graduating so this video was really helpful in giving an insight of what a tax accountant does so thank you for that
    Keep up the good work and stay safe please

      Sure! Before I do, I recommend using OneNote to keep track of every single Client. It helps me take notes and create To Do lists for each engagement. In one year I probably have about 100 different engagements I'm involved with so it definitely helps to stay organized :)

    Hi Jen! Thanks for your videos. As a junior studying accounting, I find them super helpful and motivating. I have a quick question. I aspire to become a tax associate once I graduate and I’m currently seeking for internships to gain more experience in this field. Do you think working as an Accounting clerk will also make my resume look good? I’ve seen many people trying to get internships which is my ultimate goal but before working as an intern, working as an Accounting Clerk also came across my mind. What do you think?

    • @FinancialMatter
      @FinancialMatter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Yoonah! Glad you find the videos helpful. I think working in the accounting field will definitely look good on your resume (that includes a position as an accounting clerk). Before I got into tax, I had 2 book keeping internships (one was for a fashion company and the other one was for a korean packaging firm). Definitely recommend going for what best interests you when the opportunities comes.

    • @FinancialMatter
      @FinancialMatter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Yes and tax accountants sign their client's tax return as a "tax preparer" and most can e-file/paperfile on the client's behalf with the client's authorization!

    As a junior hopefully going into public accounting, there are a lot of internships out there and with all the prereq classes, I haven't gotten to covering tax yet. For something like a research and development tax internship, would the fundamentals of accounting and exposure to the intermediate financial and managerial levels be enough?

      I posted a video on how you can search your salary range based on your level of experience and where you live: th-cam.com/video/41jvt5qMEDQ/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Jen! I'm so glad to have found your channel - your videos are great. Quick question: Since most of your day is spent on returns, do you still work on anything related to the actual accounting of your clients, or is most of your work more tax law-specific? I'm curious about the tax side of PA. :)

    • @FinancialMatter
      @FinancialMatter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey JP! Mostly deal with tax accounting. I would say 98% of my time is doing tax accounting and 2% book accounting. This is because mostly the audit team would take care of the book accounting when creating the client's financials!

    Hey what is the hiring and selection process of a Tax Manager?I have an assignment and I'm not able to find my answers anywhere online.

    • @FinancialMatter
      @FinancialMatter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey!! Hiring & Selection for me it took 3 rounds of interview for my private accounting tax manager position. After I applied, I had an interview first with the tax team, then with the accounting or legal, and then one last final round with tax again. It really depends on the company you are working for. It was a mix of both technical and behavioral questions.

I want to work with the government and IRS AS WELl . Please what major do you think I should do in a graduate school? Masters in accounting or masters in Taxation?

    • @FinancialMatter

      If I had to choose for myself I would go to school for MBA with concentration in accounting and not a Masters in Accounting. However, if you're 100% sure you want to do tax then an MST (Master in Taxation) would be great!

    Hi, I’m struggling in Intermediate Accounting I as a transfer student right now. I’ve been seriously considering switching majors, but do you think if I can finish out this class, that it will get somewhat easier as I go along in college? I noticed you said in another comment that classes get more specific as you go in college. Was Intermediate Accounting I a challenge for you? It’s just a 3 exam class

    • @FinancialMatter
      @FinancialMatter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What major were you planning on switching to? I thought that Advance Accounting was easier than Intermediate Accounting.
      When I was taking Advance Accounting, I would try to keep up with all of the material rather than cramming at the last minute. When I had in person class, I also tried to sit in the front so that I could pay attention more.
