There is something truly magical about this experience of wading waist-deep into the ocean, facing all this expanse of water and among it being lucky enough to come across the beautiful and mysterious Dicentrarchus Labrax.
One take is all it takes to turn a poor fishing session into a very memorable one, especially when there is an angry and big Sea Bass at the end of your fishing line. Anything better than that? Well, yes, it's the Sea Bass fishing with surface lures! You can see some of that action here using the The Whiplash Factory Spittin’ Wire lure. @@MarcinKantor unfortunately many people take them for eating in here..even those under 1 kilos..so fish population very low..rarely we catch big fishes..but you are lucky..i think in your country people are more respectful for fishing..briefly thats it.. 'rastgele'!

Great vid as always along with some awesome bass. I've kinda over looked bass as I'm more of a Freshwater lure angler. As and when this lockdown ends I'm gonna have a proper go for them this summer. If you could post some of the lures you used thatd be great
Thank you, it's a whole different ball game, the salt. Do try it. SPs: rais spotters, red gills, Seaducer, Slug-go. Surface lures patchinko, spittin wire. Crankbaits megabass zonk mainly.

How do you get on in regards to seeing the white braid above water. Wondering as I'm thinking of getting some stealth smooth translucent but wanna be able to see it if you know what I mean.
That's exactly the one I am using and the white is the best colour for visibility! Better than any yellow, pink etc

Hey, it's usually between 1 and 2/0 depending on the lure. the rule of thumb is to match the single size to the overall size of the treble - so you want the single the same actual size as the entire treble if that makes sense
Yes that does make sence have ordered 2/0 circle hooks they seem to fit most of the lures i use.Where when using weedless have gone for a 4/0 . Many thanks PJS

My go-to set up at the moment is an awesome Favorite Skyline TZ 7'6'' 10-35gr, Shimano TwinPower XD 4,000, braid in about 20lbs Sufix or Spiderwire, 16lbs leader from YGK. Would it be helpful to do a review of that setup?

cheers Aleks, sorry can't help, never fished there for bass. Any shallow reefs with a bit of structure underwater will hold bass there. plenty good fish down that way

Where along the east coast of Ireland is good for Bass and what type of area or condition should I look out for.
Anywhere around South East where you can see rocks next to beaches or shallow reefs. Google satelite is your best friend there. Ideal conditions are clear water and some wind to push it around. Spring tides usually better than slacks
Did you notice the big sea trout jumping a second after your fish came off?

It all depends on the mark, but generally spring tides are the best around new moon and full moon. Rising tide often good but again depending on the mark any stage can fish well

@@MarcinKantor me too although I don't use the fluorocarbon I just use an abrasion resistant clear mono. I think braid has revolutionised fishing like nothing else. Back in the day the boat anglers on the East coast would use an uncoated steel wire to hold bottom in the strong current. Would cut your fingers if not careful and makes shite of the eyes on the rods if they were not rollers. God I love braid 😂

Is there sea bass around the donegal coast? iv only ever caught pollack wrasse and mackeral.
Never fished there lad but I know it's not the best place for them. You'd be much better down in kerry, or better again south Cork

I might do a vid at some point. I'd get Slug-go 7.5in, rais spotter, albie Snax / pirate Lures Seaducer and red gill. That will cover your soft plastics. Plenty good hard lures but they cost as much as 3 packets of softies and can not often out fish them. Daiwa shoreline Shiner r50+ will cover shallow option and megabass 120 zonk gataride hi pitch for deeper water
