    What a wonderful, metallic, melodious sound that old Baldwin makes. Delightful. Thanks for the video.

    I love the freight car weathering! Especially the patch-outs on the blue CNW boxcar. Excellent work! Your backdrops are awesome too

      Thank you! I'll only take partial credit for the blue box car, it was already patched, I just did a basic 'dirty' weathering job on it! :-)

    Having a "hands-on" railroad where you manually throw turnouts and uncouple cars always seemed to be a more immersive and richer experience. . . and a lot more fun, especially with a small home layout like this which is all I ever had. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks.

      Thanks.. I've always preferred it. We used hand-thrown turnouts and manual uncoupling on our BIG modular railroads too.

      After all, there are no massive magnets etc. on a real railroad. (Although at a young age, I was convinced the yellow AWS ramps in the middle of the track, here in the UK, were un-coupling things).

    Love the track plan, simple and effective, and whats not to like about Baldwin switchers! 😁

    This video showed the best editing of small switching layout videos. Time lapse through some of the more mundane or repetitive ops and focus on the core switching moves. Nicely done! 👍

    Really like the weathering on the wagons - well done.

    Was there a reason you didn’t leave the outbound cars connected to the locomotive before placing the loaded grain car on the team track to be unloaded?

    • @moghobbystuff
      @moghobbystuff  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      nope. It's very unlikely that I'll make the best moves when switching, depends how awake I am :-)..

    Great little layout although i model in UK OO. The level of detail and weathering isn’t lost on me. Looks really good 👍

    • @moghobbystuff
      @moghobbystuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers! I have done a couple of UK light railway layouts (OO and 3mm) and keep meaning to do something LMS.. but the US HO stuff ticks a lot of boxes from a playability perspective :-)

    Cool switching operations. 👌 I see through the scenic break there is a shed, a Thrall all door car and hopper car. Is there another scenic board beyond Greenwood ?
    Cheers, Gary.

    • @moghobbystuff
      @moghobbystuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gary - nope.. that's just a 'fiddle' board. I placed the shed there for that very reason :-)

    • @Gaz3801
      @Gaz3801 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@moghobbystuff Well there you go ! Great idea indeed. On my layout, I didn't have anywhere to stage trains so I decided to replace one industry with a three road fiddle yard which is all sceniced. 😉
      Cheers, Gary.

    • @moghobbystuff
      @moghobbystuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was my plan for Greenville before I dismantled it - a scenic 'yard'.. makes a lot of sense.. this layout was originally intended to be to take to a show, hence the offscene fiddle.. next one (!) will no doubt keep the staging 'on scene'

    Nice layout. What DCC system do you use?

    • @moghobbystuff
      @moghobbystuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks.. I use the NCE powercab.. I used to hook it up to my mac and run JMRI/WiThrottle on my last layout, but at the moment just using the powercab controller

    Hi Mog. Really nice Layout and wonderful switching Session. One question about backdrop..Is it painted or a photo? It looks great in combination with the trees in the Front,

      Thanks Frank.. it's a commercial product by "ID backscenes" - I mentioned it in an earlier video :-)

    I’ve just started a switching layout myself and just looking for some ideas. Not really good on videography so not sure about how to film!!!! Mine will be a total length of 21’ X 24”, L shape…….

    • @moghobbystuff
      @moghobbystuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good luck- hope to see you sharing ? My 'ideas' will usually be about going smaller! Have a go.. I think using a tripod or something to keep the camera steady is important.. spending time editing cannot be underestimated, and I'm still wrestling with the audio, getting a decent microphone and working out how to use it :-)

    I noticed the latch on the front, is this a modular layout? Do you display it at meets?

    • @moghobbystuff
      @moghobbystuff  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there.. I built it originally as a layout for an exhibition, that then got cancelled! That's why it was built in three 3 ft sections (2 scenic, 1 fiddle)

      @@moghobbystuff don’t get me wrong,I do switching all the time, matter of fact my entire layout is a switching layout, my issue was only the guy riding the engine back and forth,back and forth……

    • @moghobbystuff
      @moghobbystuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Gotcha.. thanks. He is a lazy bugger! (and I couldn't film him getting off and throwing the switches or coupling the cars, which is what I imagined). Look forward to seeing your switching layout sometime :-)
