    Woody i don't dive and probably never will. I just love watching you talk about what you love. Your passion for diving is awesome to see. I also love your emphasis on safety. I'm a heavy diesel mechanic and always wondered about all the failure points on your systems with the o rings and lines wearing out eventually or breaking. Was awesome to see you inspect and lube all the o rings and go through the entire system so meticulously. Can tell you really care about safety and don't cut corners. Keep up the good work.

      You should try it! You don't have to go technical or cave and there are plenty of low stress recreational dives with many cool fish friends of ours.

    I would love to have one of those shirts but also without the tech diving team written on it as I don't dive ( yet ). Wouldn't want people to think I am a tech diver but would love to rock the shirt as i really like the design of it.

    I love your reaction videos, I learn a lot from them.
    I’m saving money to get open water certified and then rescue diving (and if I’m good enough at some point in the future, cave diving) and can’t wait to learn rebreathers at some point so these technical videos are great to see what I’d have in store. Thank you for freely sharing this. Great video

    Interesting. This setup is quite different from the way I had it set up on my xDeep Stealth Tec during a tryout dive at Protec recently. Nothing over the shoulders, but MAV and inflator come under the arms like a regular sidemount setup. Counterlung is mounted other side up. Scrubbers are also attached a bit differently to the wing. Interesting to see the differences. Thanks.

    For what reason don't you use a short hp hose extension, bungee’d to the O2 hose, on the transmitter to prevent impact damage on the unit and O2 first stage when the transmitter gets a hit?

    Question about prebreathing - do rebreathers not monitor CO2? Also, does the LPI ever get in the way of your drysuit inflator?

    First off love this channel, second, I am not a diver, lol I have a question that idk if u have ever mentioned it, on another scuba channel I watch they mentioned chest mounted rebreathers and I was just wondering if there was any advantages/disadvantages to a chest mounted rebreather? I love the ocean but I stick to kneeboarding and snorkeling , I was just curious.

    Hi Woody, hi Gus. Like Your videos a lot. They are great. I dive Rebreathers on deep Wracks and Caves (homebuilds Backmount and Sidemount) since Years now and my next project will be a Sidewinder Kind Homebuild-Rebreather. Can you give me some information about the Counterlungs. How big is the counterlungs on the Kiss Sidewinder? (height, width). The shape is clearly visible in your videos. Thank you very much and look forward to many more videos with Woody and Gus. Dive safely. Greetings from Italy Oswald

  • @sanderhamel7424

    I never used a rebreather or anything that is O2 cleaned. I noticed you are using crystal lube which is what is generally used for components that need to be O2 cleaned. Doesnt that also mean you should be wearing gloves when applying the lube and probably better to do it inside avoid any contamination?

    Woody, what happens when a Diver breaks the "seal" of his mouth and the mouthpiece, allowing saltwater to enter the rebreather?

    • @DIVETALK
      @DIVETALK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The river can potentially flood the rebreather, but a temporary quick break of seal will not flood it, the rebreather can handle some moisture and water, just not a lot.

    Why is the bcd sitting so low on you?

    • @DiveBC
      @DiveBC 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sidemount wings typically sit lower on the body than traditional bcd's or BPW setups. this is because your cylinders are lower down your body than Backmount.

    • @savage5764
      @savage5764 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DiveBC Actually wrong the main points of the bcd should include bungee inline directly under armpits, which these arent, and his shoulder d-rings are the way to low on his right side and too high on his left side. You will also notice that the waist band is not fitted correctly and his setup will make it so he can not trim the tanks without having the need of 2 sliding d rings..... you also see that the shoulder straps push up the waist band which will cause the waist band tank to constantly dangle outside not under the arm inline with the body. You will also notice his bcd hose is too short for how he wants to dive it. Also double bolt snap clipped to keep the wing down? Better off with a loop and bolt snap 2 is just overkill. Sidemount wings dont typically sit lower on your body they fit your body if you ever dove one properly you will know it literally cuffs to your back and feels like one.

    I just woke up. Some issue with design. OK, at 10:09 you show the connection "locking" mechanism. If these were to rub against rocks in restrictions, it would be possible for the ring to turn as it's not turned that far to "lock" it. Now it's just a matter of time... Ask Gus, how long it takes. Second, at 10:28 there is a good image of the KISS DSV. There is a lever which, I believe, opens and closes access to air. Again, in a restriction you're rubbing your face along the bottom as you go forward. It's a very tight restriction so arm movement is very limited. All of a sudden, you find that you've lost air. There is a nice example of this with Ed going through a restriction and the lever gets buried in the sand. OK, those were two free ones. The rest will cost you😀.
