- Some video of Dad's 056 AVE chainsaw. Startup, Idle, Running, Revving, and Cutting.
The current 28" Bar and Chain are old and could probably use replacing, we will see how many miles we can get out of the old bar and chain setup.

Twice the size of Dad's 028... we will put it to use cutting up the "big" stuff.
We do not own rights to the brands shown in the film, however they are our belongings and can be used as we please.
STIHL 056: one of the best ever built. Fantastic memories...
Generally when the saw is cutting crooked like that it is because the chain has been hand-filed. There's a natural side and an unnatural side and normally we file one side down more than the other when the teeth are longer on one side and shorter on the other it makes the cut curved.
It was a well-used bar and chain so that is a good possibility. We did some tuning of the bar and chain to make it mill straight; we had been fighting it wanting to climb in the mill setup. That will probably be in a future video!
Good work 🍻
Thanks, there will be more of this Saw to come in future videos...
hand filing doesn't make a chainsaw cut crooked, not knowing how to "hand file" a chainsaw chain is the issue, I've been hand filing my chains for 35 years and my saws cut straight
The bar was the issue. It was very worn in the groove that the chain runs through, plus the bar was bent to one side like it was hung up in a tree or two. We tuned the bar and now it cuts straight. I thought we recorded us tuning the bar however that footage may have been lost.
Connected no plz spear parts
Plz this meshing pishten one .
I have 045
Very similar to this saw. The base 056 is almost identical to the 045 Super, however the 056 has a sideport exhaust.
Chain too tight
We did adjust the Chain...
After looking at the Bar, it appears to have "seen some s#!t..."
The Bar had a pretty good warp to the Right, as if it had been hung up in a tree, with the weight of the user pushing downward... however it happened...
Used Saw with Used Bar and Chain, bound to be some tuning that needs to happen...
